  • In this video I am taking off the old varnish off this wooden worktop, preparing and sanding it, and finally retreating it with OSMO Polyx Oil High Solid. Now this product doesn't mention use on worktops, but I know a trusty chippy or two, and they swear by it, besides, if it's good enough to use on floors, then it's good enough to use on a worktop.
I'll take you through the key stages to getting your old and worn wooden worktop looking beautiful again.

Great vid. I’m about to put 2 coats of Osmo around my garden cabin. It’s quite weathered and Osmo UV has been recommended.

Great vid ,, these are so handy for the DIY guys n gals of the world... I use the OSMO Top Oil High Solid (which is liquid) it comes out white but gives no colour so you dont get that orange look

Be keen to know if there are any ways to tackle the black water areas first. I have similar issues, probably worse on an uncared for surface.

Great video how has it lasted? Have you been ok to wipe the sides down etc? Not rubbing oil off?

Great thanks for getting back to me. I've had problems with a ronseal product. We have some osmo left over so will give that a go. Many thanks again

I can't believe you didn't remove the sink and hob. You can't seal the wood properly by leaving them in - especially the sink.
