Is the US against capitalism? Japan can buy whatever they like with their money. This is a bad precedent as other countries will now restrict similar moves from American businesses.
The problem is many countries intentionally don't buy lots of American products and keep demanding USA to buy lots of their products. The result is USA suffers debt. For example: Japan exports more to USA but imports less from USA. USA suffers debt every year. The same goes with China. China is notorious for exporting more but importing less. Both Japan and China are export-based countries. USA is an import-based country because many countries design USA to be like that. The world gets money, USA loses money.
@@vivliforia2262 Well the USA is a service economy, while China manufactures a lot more. So what’s your point? Why would China buy services it doesn’t need? Why don’t Americans buy their own products to support their own country but choose instead cheaper Chinese products? Also many countries buy American products (i.e. military products). @vivliforia2262 That's what the US has been doing to strengthen capitalist countries during the Cold War. It was to make countries like Germany, Japan, UK, and Korea to be able to fight against communism. But then, the US wasted their money on a failed attempt to beat communist Vietnam, useless investment on ICBMs, and relying too much on Keynes's ideology. If you're complaining about that, then you should complain to Truman, Eisenhower, Lindon, and Nixon.

If the current leadership at the company can't figure out how to modernize the company without subsidies, so they seek to sell our critical industries to a foreign company, then they've proven their worthlessness as leaders. If U.S. Steel goes bankrupt, the government should buy any useful working capital from it for a low price and then setup a structure where the power to decide the company's future is put into the hands of all of the workers to let them vote for new company leadership and decide how their company should be modernized. If subsidies/bailouts are given, then the current company leadership should not be allowed to remain (unless democratically elected by the workers) or profit from the intervention.
Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez did the same thing in Cuba and Venezuela....get rid of the capitalists, CEOs and put "the people" in charge..
アメリカの国民感情の気持ちも分かるから難しい
This is the problem. Japanese are "too nice". Why wonder it's in decline.

How good allies are Japan and USA?
Japan still sees the U.S. as a sort of fantasy land. The past year has brought more Japanese culture to the U.S. because of Japanese baseball player Shohei Ohtani and the L.A. Dodgers. The majority of cars in the U.S. are made by Japanese companies. The U.S. military works closely with Japans JSDF.
Of course there's more than that, but Japan and the U.S. have had a good relationship for quite some time
If this steel deal goes through, Japan would probably want to take over more American companies. What next American companies do you want to take over, Japan? Marvel? DC? Disney? Warner Bros? Take-Two? EA? McDonald's? Wallmart? Amazon? Tesla? SpaceX? Ford? General Motors? Boeing? Google? Meta? Microsoft? Apple? USA would have nothing, then. (Sarcasm 😅)

its blocked, move on!🤣
Imagine being mad at the US for protecting its steel industry.
This will literally cost the US thousands of steel workers their jobs
Imagine being this ignorant and dishonest. US Steel is a failing and not even a top steel producer in the US

And don't forget the old and outdated infrastructure.

Perhaps its why Blinken desperate travel to Japan to hope Japan honor the alliance and not kick the US military out of Japan's soil

Would Japan let US companies buy out Toyota? I think not.
US military is in Japan's soil. That is more a greater security concern for Japanese, but I guess we can ignore that.
Can Japan allow USA to buy Toyota what are u saying is Japan America, the USA is still defending a country that its most superior too in all ways; Japan is us biggest investors but the deal was at the wrong time; election season was a bad idea for them
USA can't buy Toyota because they don't have the money
Japan has not learned .. I am not sorry for them
