Learn Mental Pazaak From Atton

- It took me a few play-thrus to even figure out that you can do this. :p I figured I'd add every one of the crew members' thoughts while I was at it (so yes, you normally wouldn't see Braianna in there, with a female Exile).
And yes I AM still working on my big K1 projects. I just had this footage kicking around on my computer, and thought I'd free up some more space. :D - Ігри
I like to think Atton starts thinking pornographic thoughts when he knows Kreia is snooping around as his way of giving her the middle finger 😂
Something I appreciate about this scene is that it clues us in to one of Kreia's greatest weaknesses: She lacks empathy. Despite her condemnation of Jedi and Sith for viewing all things through the Force, for not having a connection to their own humanity, Kreia's not much different. She views the universe through cause-and-effect relationships and power imbalances -- all brought about by echoes in the Force. The Exile, on the other hand, doesn't *need* the Force to forge bonds with others and have an effect on the world around her. The Exile's personal strength is only made greater by the force, not subsumed by it like Kreia.
What's great is Kreia doesn't know what to do with this exactly but as Atton reveals, he used to hunt jedi and and knows their mind tactic, being able to distract any force user trying to tap into his head. In his own way, making himself seem like a fool is why he's such a great character
Kreia does know what atton was, she uses it to manipulate him and blackmail him on the telos, she's just appears this way,
When atton confesses to the player he confronts her and claims he's no longer her slave and kriea is like "pfft bitch please"
@@Theseamus2000 Yes, but even Kreia was fooled for a time. She read his thoughts and found nothing of note, exactly as he wanted. It wasn't until she noticed his fear of Jedi at the Telos academy that she decided to dig a little deeper.
So the trick only works at the psychological surface level... 🤔

That actually has a basis in psychology. When you try to fight unwanted thoughts, they get stronger because attention is like food for thoughts (no pun intended). You need to focus on something else.

Lmfao as someone who played the TSLRCM restored content mod first, THEN played the original vanilla game, how did they screw that up?? Atton never turns around to face you while speaking in the ebon hawk cockpit, even when it explicitly says he looks at the player and frowns 😭😭
@@itwontcomeout5678 There's so many animations in the game that are just hilarious. For example, when you feed Voggas kath hounds the juma juice, they just walk back to their spot and fall to the ground in one frame 😂
I always come back and and watch this conversation, definitely one of my favorites in the game. "Because you'll be right here with me, playing pazzak, where they cant reach you." always hits hard.
This was one of the most unexpected turns of character I had seen in the game when I first played, I honestly didn't think Atton was that mentally capabale, I always thought he knew how to use a blaster and repair and hack but beyond that.... pretty impressive!
That's awesome. Like Bastila had battle meditation you can use battle pazaak against your enemies.

I learned a similar technique, whenever I don't want to think or feel something. I play a game that requires a laundry list of critical tasks. Like Stellaris or Prison Architect. Like for Stellaris, move the science ship, build a mining station, research a technology, create more district, move some populations, upgrade a star base, move a fleet, check enemy strength, expand territory. Rinse and repeat. Unfortunately it's a huge time waster but it does make me feel better
I find it interesting that Kreia seems sort of irritated that the exile can hear Bao's thoughts while she can't can't.
It was that single line that made me realize Kreia wasn't the all-knowing detached mentor she pretends to be. She's not a grandiloquent and implacable judgement the game makes on all your actions; she's a brilliant Sith Lord and a master manipulator, yes, but she's also an embittered old woman who can still feel things like pettiness and jealousy.
It's probably a part of why she hates Atton so much too (I would also assume that's Kreia's belief that nobody deserves redemption in play), and why she belittles Bao-Dur and tries to push the Exile away from Visas and the Handmaiden, and always encourages the Exile to treat her allies as disposable pawns. She doesn't like emotional ties that don't lead back to her, and the deep ones, like true servitude, like Malachor, like love? They threaten her influence.
@@Dianacat777 Yeah, I find it ironic that Kreia condemns both Jedi and Sith for viewing all relationships and life through the Force -- as bonds to be weaved by an intelligence that we can't hope to comprehend, despite the fact that she displays a startling lack of empathy and patience for other living beings, something that inevitably weakens her and makes her *less* than The Exile.

I like how he basically plays Yugioh in his head to distract himself from his sins and form a mental shield. Atton is so cool.
Bao Durs delivery of the line "I will follow you General, as I did at Malachor" ALWYAS SENDS CHILLS UP MY SPINE. You can HEAR his conflict in his voice and especially when he speaks the name Malachor, you can hear that it was the most emotional thing he ever had to do. Amazing game. Love all your videos and watch them frequently still!
His mannerisms should be clear after learning his backstory. The way he talks is a strong hint that the man has suffered immense and overwhelming trauma comparable to what happened at Malachor. And that he's barely scraping by. I bet Malachor is constantly on his mind and it has consumed his life. The guilt of Malachor would haunt him the rest of his spine.
As broken as this game was, it's moments like that make me still love it to this day. So many excellent ideas, just thrown together in a hodge podge. It would have been great if the developers had given the game a few more months to let things fall into place before rushing a deadline, but at lest we got SOMETHING.
I really love what a job Atton does in both trying to show you enough of his skills for you to see him as useful to keep around, but at the same time hide enough of them to make you not ask about it. Like "No I'm not a specially trained sith assassin with basically indominable will, I'm just playing pazaak in my head because I like it"

Krei and Atton, my perfect archetpes i fall in love with in any story. and when Kreia and Atton were my 1st met characters in the game....that made it much more storygasmic

At 3:44 I can imagine some cutaway gag of Kreia sitting in her room alone listening to Atton's thoughts, while moaning women sounds play in the background, followed by her going "Oh my". Would make for a funny youtube video.

Exploiting your feelings is hard if you are hardly thinking about emotional stuff, throw in technical stuff merely devoted to performing a task, don´t even think about the reason you are focusing, you are just doing it, maths are amoral, force users have nothing to do in that place.

That whole video was amazing! I think it's funny how Atton kept force users from discovering his real thoughts. I love KotOR 2, it was so poetic that I was sad when the game ended. How did you get the Disciple and the Handmaiden to join your party together? I play as a male exile.
There is a mod called "Party Swap"... allows both Disciple and Handmaiden.
Oh, how I love Kreia's wisenessness. :D

KOTOR 1 & 2 are two of the greatest games I've ever played

I remember doing this the first time I played KOTOR 2, I talked with everyone constantly trying to figure out each person, it was a lot of fun when I could read there minds!! lol. However I think thats as far as you could go for that type of training right? Anyway thanks for your vids! they're always a blast!!^^

This is one of the reasons Anton became one of my Favorite Characters
i don't think he meant for it to be used offensively but more as a defensive tool when Darth Sion or Trayus battles you, their Mind Trick or Dominance cannot be as effective when they use it on you.
Why did no one ever take Atton to a blackjack table? Atton's talents would break most casinos. Also, with his Jedi and Echanni training he could easily fight off Joe Pesci.

I'm not sure why, but I PREFER Candalore (teh-heh) WITH his helmet on. That's why I don't use the mod that removes it. :D

this reminds me of an episode in a cartoon superhero show i watch with my little cousin sometimes called young justice in that episode a superhero chick and martian telepath tries to get information out of a villain's head and the villian whose name is Bane goes ah ah ah chica Bane is not that easy. and the telepath goes uh hes mentally reciting futbol scores and espanol this could take a while.

KOTOR2 may have been a flawed game, but I honestly prefer it over the first. Most of the party characters all had cool hooks and backstories to discover, and they always stuck with me more than any of first games cast, which is why I almost always slaughtered them all at the end of the game.
