the skin and the details in the face aren't as good in 18. looks more realistic in 17 but the hair and some faces looking Alot better this year.

There are some big differences between 2K17 and 2K18 that the causal player doesn't realise. One of the big points that 2K made known was how they improved the accuracy of body types in 18. They updated a lot of the player models that make it a lot more life like than last year (eg. Kevin Durant, Steph Curry, Klay Thompson). In 17 there were NBA players that were given the "High School" body type (eg. KD, Curry, Giannis, Wiggins) which gave them overly skinny body frames with lanky arms. In 2K18 they improved that a lot, they made many more body types that actually suited the players. Another example of inaccurate player models in 17 was that certain players had too much mass on them eg. Klay. Heaps of other aspects in terms of graphics has been improved on in 18.
The point of all this is that I'm trying to say that 18 is a big improvement on last year. Just about everything has been worked on and has gotten better, but to the untrained eye these things go unnoticed. Moral of the story is that we need to appreciate the "little" things like this more. Shout out to 2K

In the edit player menu in 2k18, the players looked so trash. But in actual gameplay they look pretty amazing

Just looks like they went with different shading, or a graphics engine. They both look completely different, but both look amazing in their own way.
To me, it doesn't look like they improved, or made it better, but just chose a different graphic style.

2k sports literally had to reboot they're tech and start from scratch when it came to the players faces and builds it mentioned in that dev diary. NBA 2k17 is better texture and graphics wise.
