When i saw that picture i right away realized that this was never seen before. Because both of them are wearing beards. If you are a Beatles Nerd as i am, you will know that they sort of alternate themselves with who had beards and who does not, i do not know if they did it deliberately but on the Get Back sessions Paul was the one who had Beard and John and George does not (George had a Moustache), then on Abbey Road John and George had beards but Paul Does not. But this one, this one is unseen because Both Paul and George had Beards.

I agree. The Beatles, and I mean that in the business sense of the word, never let an opportunity for a little bit of subliminal self-promotion go by. I'm sure more photos from the session exist, no photographer worth their salt goes in, takes one photo and leaves, and these photos I'm sure will turn up in the Let it Be release. Perhaps we might even see RIngo in one or two of the photos as well? x

Great, intimate photo. I seen this on George Harrison's fb page...it is stunning, so intimate working on the Let it Be sessions which produced some of their finest compositions to date with Let it Be, the Long and Winding Road, Dig a Pony, Across the Universe seems to suit this perfect with Get Back and Don't Let Me Down, the One after 909, I Me Mine and of course George's brilliant For You Blue, this monster single was played a lot in Canada radio, too bad not an A-side because the radio play was terrific. This photo shown and nicely explained shows the intimacy like the early days, the Hamburg days with their guitars in a dark alley finding chords...a remarkable photo.

Hi Andrew, you will have seen the new 'Get back' book mentioned on The Beatles website, available in 345 days time or so,, no rush then..... What I do like is how The Beatles have followed the logic their official biographer, Hunter Davies. When asked what he regretted/missed most in the biography he said that he wished he had included more of The Beatles in the studio in the biography-now-or rather in a years time we will have a whole lot more studio chat from the lads themselves.......

Agreed it is a sweet sensational photo and it will be from the I Me Mine sessions. Just to think that some 12-15 years earlier these tired celebrities were young boys that met on a bus to school.
This photo rivals that photograph that turned up a few years ago of John and Paul brotherly recording Ballad of John and Yoko together, with Yoko’s feet in the foreground, when Paul and John were supposedly at odds with each other.

  • @MrDirtybear
    @MrDirtybear 4 роки тому

Hi Andrew. A simple question. It is now widely accepted that the whole 'Get Back'/'Let It Be' project, the new film and the old film remastered and whatever audio and book equivalents follow, has been left to go out in Sept 2021 rather than Sept 2020 because of Covid 19. But where does that leave the copyright issues on all the material they have striven to create for the project? If the material in the project is being put out to stop the rights on a great mass of material lapsing into the public domain, via copyright controlled new improved versions etc then surely put the material out a year late is letting a lot of material go out of copyright, which reduces the point of the exercise? Your thoughts on this would be welcome.

Hi, great question! I talked about this very thing at various points in my live stream last week, there's a few ways it could go, essentially it may boil down to "Apple can probably afford much better lawyers than anyone who tries to release any of this stuff" even if it's technically legal! Anyway, if you get chance , discussed at various points here: ua-cam.com/video/TroSRmnvGVo/v-deo.html 🙂👍

Cool down my friend, Paul and George made Abby Road together John was off with Yoko, this was their album. When you listen to 'Something', and 'Here Comes the Sun', you can hear McCartney all over those two songs. Plus it was Gorge's synth what they all used what gave Abby Road, it's modern sounds. Gorge always said and he told Lennon to his face " I done everything you asked me to do and you abandoned me', this was after he(Gorge) ripped off Lennon's sunglasses and threw them on the floor, telling John, " I want to see your fucking eyes', this incident happened after Abbey Road it was when John let him down, by backing out of the show for Bangladesh charity concert. But the ill feelings was building up from the Let it be, to the Abby Road sessions, Lennon isn't on none of Harrison songs on the Abbey Road Album. John, however, did make sure Gorge got his first Beatles A side with 'Something", it was the best song on Abby Road, but it was Gorge and Paul worked on it and as the story goes Gorge felt Lennon had
Abandoned him and he was very upset about losing his boss, brother and mentor to Yoko, it was because Gorge told John, he didn't want him bringing Yoko to perform at the Bangladesh concert why Lennon didn't show up. And let us not forget, it was McCartney who brought Harrison into the Beatles in the first place, they were childhood friends long before McCartney even met Lennon and there is many Pictures of the two of them together, why would you get so excited about this one, I'm not sure but didn't Harrison die in one of McCarthy's houses in America, I know they made up before he died and Gorge said " I always looked up to Paul, he was my Hero', I myself have always wanted to know what happened between the two of them, but as far as I know it has never been fully explained, but brothers sometimes fall out their falling out seemed to be Gorge feeling McCartney was holding him back, but remember this for every 1 Harrison song Lennon and McCartney would have to do 2 to earn as much as Harrison. The only Album there was an equal split between the three writers was on "Revolver " where Gorge got 3 songs placed. He only got 1 on their next Album. Some one was keeping him in his place. Anyway got to say goodbye and good luck!

That was a great little coffee break video, thank you. A couple of years ago I bought a picture (it's in colour, and poster format) of the early (maybe 1964 or 1965) Beatles in their blue-grey suits and ties, playing in the customary left-right line-up of Paul, George, Ringo further back, then John. They're standing (Ringo seated at drums) in front of what looks like a big screen of many little square metal panels hanging against a plain white/cream wall. I've been curious about where and when it was taken, as I've never seen any others from the same session or situation. Happy to send anybody a picture of it if they think they might be able to help. I said early July. I know the known photos from the sessions show Paul without a beard but unless there are photos of Paul in late June without a beard, the presence of the beard doesn’t prove these are from January ‘70. Looks like studio #2 at EMI (Abbey Road) because of those wood panels on the.wall behind them. I'd say it is from the 4/1/70 session because Paul had been on holiday the previous monfh at his farm in Scotland (watch the Maybe I'm Amazed vjdeo) and had grown the beard back as you see in the photos in from Maybe I'm Amazed.

There were no Sessions on 4-1-70. It was January 1970, John was already gone and the 3 others were finishing a song for the film, that is the only reason they did it- it had to be on the record for the film.

    • @michaelrosemond3984

Highly unlikely this is from 4/1/70 as Paul had the infamous row with Ringo the day before. Ringo had the misfortune of delivering the message for John/George/Apple/Klein that Paul would have to push his McCartney album release date to June, prompting Paul to throw Ringo out of his house. The only Beatle present at the 4/1 session was Ringo doing drum overdubs on Across the Universe, Long and Winding Road, and I, Me, Mine.

I think this photo was "discovered" in the research and data collection for a Let it Be Anniversary box set release. Images were most likely sent to the Beatles and their estates for approval in the book accompanying the music release. And this was among those shots. Olivia or Dhani probably didn't realize how rare this image is before posting it. Or maybe they did. Either way! I think it's an indication that some deep preparation work has been done on a Let it Be 50th book, and not just looking at images from Jan 1969, either! Hope there are a few more shots from this session.

This is probably not from January 1970, the reason being is that I remember reading something years ago about the last days of any of the Beatles going into the recording study in the beginning of 1970. The article said that only one of them, probably Paul, came into the studio one last time to put a final touch on Let it be. Only Olivia probably knows the answer to this question.

Hi David, I Me Mine didn't exist as a proper recording until January 3rd 1970, that's the day that George Paul and Ringo recorded a short minute and a half version of it, that was then extended in length by repeating a section of it for the final released version.

Did the 3 of them really convene in A.R. that day just to re-take or complete 'I Me Mine' ? and not record or complete anything else while there? Seems a wasted opportunity to just do the one number - but I don't know what mentality they were bringing with them or agenda at that delicate time...but I was just wondering if that one song of George's was enough to bring Paul down from Scotland ...perhaps they each had other business to attend to in London.

Paul McCartney is the most documented & interviewed human being ever ..and so I wonder how that affects his ( or anyone similars' ) recollections, considering there is ample documentation in archive media in literature/ picture/film/audio you name it, of what, where he did something and when he did it, and who with but at the same time our own memories are personal and not always factually accurate. Someone like Paul has far far more things to jog his memory, but does that make your memory better?

    • @AndrewDixonMusic

Andrew Dixon I think this is highlighted by the re- production of the Let It Be film. He had previously ( correct me if I am wrong ) thought of the film and the whole process of making let it be as part of a very negative stage in the Beatles career and has for decades done his best to dissociate himself from it. But now he has seen a new version he is saying it wasn’t such a negative time and it was really just the editorial choices of Michael Lyndsey-Hogg ( and im not talking here about Phil Spector though that is also relevant ) that made it appear such a drag. Do you see what i mean ? This difference in documenting has swayed his personal memories

This photo is from January 1970, almost a year after the original Let It Be/Get Back sessions. This was an additional session arranged specifically to create a full studio version of I Me Mine to include on the album, as no full version existed. They also the following day added vocal overdubs to Let It Be. These sessions were approximately 3 to 4 months after John had announced to the rest of the band that he had left The Beatles. These were the only Beatles recording sessions of the 1970s (not including Ringo's contribution to orchestral overdubs recorded by Phil Spector several weeks later).
