I'm Portuguese, born in the 70s. I went through my adolescence and youth consuming British music, literature, comedy, cinema and television. Monty Python, Alexei Sayle, The Smiths, The Cure, Depeche Mode, Blake's 7, Oscar Wilde, Aldous Huxley, George Orwell... the list goes on and on and on... I wished to go live in England one day because I loved your culture so much. Now, I wouldn't live there for a million pounds... England has faded away and it's such a shame.

I'm a Polish living in Britain and I cannot stand it how natives are giving up on their country, identity, heritage and all what makes English different. Stand up for yourself.
Only some natives beat themselves up about this and expect other people to be like them . We are, in the main, tolerant, which some people (including some of our own countrymen) take advantage of, but don't push us too far.
It's our leaders and media, not us. The BBC is the worst. I used to teach in Poland and always told my students to be proud of being Polish, by the way. Every European country has an identity and heritage that makes it unique. The woman in this video speaks with a forked tongue. If she doesn't like the English and the way they do things, nobody is forcing her to stay. I have no interest in her version of the British Empire.

I agree England improved most places. Ironically, I think they did more harm in South Africa with the boer wars. Although, they also helped by weakening the conquering Zulu, so it's not clear cut. But I think on balance the Dutch boers without the British invasion would have been better overall. But it would have depended on the outcome of a boer/Zulu war.
@@petenell5807 the boer war was never meant to be won just by shear numbers alone. We did teach them modern tactics. Say you were conquering britian, you'd also go to war. This isn't difficult, you win or you die. Britain was the best at it and had the tables turned no doubt you'd do the same if not worse.
