A few things: 1. Claustrophobia is not a problem for I would say 99% of cats. Cats feel very comfortable and safe in tight and small spaces, so that is not a problem. 2. The bag has lots of airholes the side, it won't suffocate. 3. This is no where near animal cruelty. This bag is basically a different type of carrier for your cat, and she is seeing how the cats react to it. You can see the genuine concern she has for them when they show discomfort and she goes back immidiately. You all need to chill. I'm sure the cats like this more than getting neutered or spayed.

I think it would be an excellent carrier in times of natural disaster. The carriers I have now pull me too far to one side for me to run or climb with them. Too few people consider how difficult it is to move animals quickly if you have to, probably why so many pets get left behind in disasters like floods.

I got this backpack and it actually comes with a hard plastic mesh opening as well as the plastic dome. You can use either one. Ours likes the mesh because he does like to smell through it

A cat should be able to stand up and turn around in their carrier. If they can't do that, the carrier is too small. If you're only going to keep your cat in it for a few minutes for fun, it might be fine. But for aything else, just put looking cool aside. And don't take your cat to the vet in these things, you never know how your cat is feeling afterwards and your cat has to be able to lie down.

It is not really big, you can look up the measurements. It is smaller than a normal carrier. And just because a vet said or made something doesn't mean it's good. A lot of cats are being fed dry because there are vets who recommend it.

The clear window should stick out 6 -8 inches farther with holes in the window it so they can see AND SMELL where they are. If you watch your cat when you open the window in your house, you'll see them trying to pick up all the scents that come in.
I think it's a blonde thing lol. I have two cats, one is gold too like Congress, and he's adventurous, easy going and loves the outdoors. The other is black and white striped and he is SUPER sensitive to any kind of change and is terrified of the outdoors. I LOVE this idea though, for taking them to the vet and maybe the ones who don't like the outdoors will slowly adapt over time. I like how you took the time to walk slowly so as not to startle them. You're such a good cat mommy :) p.s. FOUR is ALOT lol....I thought two was a lot, but good for you!

I agree. She's very relatable, funny and quirky. Yet I can't help but wonder... would we still be quite as enchanted by her personality if she looked like Quasimodo? I think we'd still like her... but I don't think we'd find some of the things she does quite as cute and acceptable. Like her stalking and stuff. I've seen people leave her messages welcoming her to stalk them. I doubt that would happen so much if she was ugly.
There are other options from Amazon that i have seen...just ordered one where they can poke their head out but stay in the backpack. They go up to 10 lbs. They also have ones where they can extend their paws, like a front backpack for a baby.

Cats feel safer in smaller spaces, that's why they'll go hide somewhere cramped when they're scared. Depending on the cat, it might be a lot less traumatic to go to the vet in the backpack vs the kennel, but it's like 5 times the price, so it depends on your situation.

+Jettchick Cats have a tendency to actually want to cram themselves in tight spaces. It's "denning" behavior. Their wild counterparts look for small spaces to hide while sleeping. Now, how they feel about not having the ability to leave at will is another question.

My cat hates to walk and definitely hates his harness, but loves to go outside, though he is not outdoorsy and his main objective is just to escape and then roll on the side walk. The real world scares him unless he is being supervised in the back yard while he chases butterflies and specks of dust. He loves looking out the windows in the house and I think this would be perfect for him and for me. I can solidify for anyone who is still thinking I may be sane, that I am not- for sane people in this town do not have wheelchairs for their dogs and they most definitely do NOT have a Bubble Backpack for their AstroCat, much less both- at the same time. And Jacques P. Cat, he can see the great outdoors without moving his tubby little low energy butt. For some cats it may be cruel, but I think their owners would know their cat well enough to know it and wouldn't use it anymore. For my Cat- I think it'll be like the backpack gods dreamed this up with him in mind and it will feed his already too big kitty ego.
I feel like you need to learn common sense. It's the same for us humans too. We just can't communicate with cats. We too, can relate to this. Humans stay in cars to go from one place to another. It's the same thing. Who knows? Don't assume that the cat doesn't like it. It may love it, hate it, but it's not like it's living in it forever. She's going to let it out, sooner or later. She's not tempting the cat either.

It's good for taking your pets (it's not made for just cats) places! Like the vet, or just for transportation! In some areas it's popular to put your pet in a bag and just carry them around for an adventure lol

I feel like this backpack needs more holes... especially with such a large hard panel it's like cracking the window in a hot car??
The clear window should stick out 6 -8 inches farther with holes in the window it so they can see AND SMELL where they are. If you watch your cat when you open the window in your house, you'll see them trying to pick up all the scents that come in.

I think it's a blonde thing lol. I have two cats, one is gold too like Congress, and he's adventurous, easy going and loves the outdoors. The other is black and white striped and he is SUPER sensitive to any kind of change and is terrified of the outdoors. I LOVE this idea though, for taking them to the vet and maybe the ones who don't like the outdoors will slowly adapt over time. I like how you took the time to walk slowly so as not to startle them. You're such a good cat mommy :) p.s. FOUR is ALOT lol....I thought two was a lot, but good for you!

There are other options from Amazon that i have seen...just ordered one where they can poke their head out but stay in the backpack. They go up to 10 lbs. They also have ones where they can extend their paws, like a front backpack for a baby.

Cats feel safer in smaller spaces, that's why they'll go hide somewhere cramped when they're scared. Depending on the cat, it might be a lot less traumatic to go to the vet in the backpack vs the kennel, but it's like 5 times the price, so it depends on your situation.
