And as CJ says, Ah shoot... here we go again! ( I like this saying so imma keep it at this point xD )
Well as the title says, i tested out the amraam a bit on the dev server, and to be honest this time I used it it got better, im guessing that it went under a couple of updates so that would explain why. About the thumbnail; the aim-120 AMRAAM is totally usable with tws however it is not advisable to do so and I show why in the video.

A lot of people probably got their expectations way too high for these especially first stage arh missiles
That is indeed true
While there certainly has been some overhype regarding the Aim-120A/B, I think there has also been some overhype in the community regarding the capabilities of R-27ER and the means of play. ER has more range and speed. Maybe even a better ballistic coefficient. But since Aim-120 is ARH, the pilot can afford to push a bit closer before shooting to offset that and then notch for safety since Aim-120 doesn't require mothership terminal guidance, and R-27ER does. Gives you first shot priority too since the ER slinger in question may be too busy defending your at that point, very dangerous Aim-120 to re-lock you without likely dying. Feel it's a worthy counter (In its final, polished form), but it must be used correctly, and you've gotta know your missiles well.
You can replicate this tactic with phoenixes in game, shooting and turning cold just straight up counters the ER
why do people forget that r77 was also in the fox 3 event ? what if the enemy fires an r27er + r77 ?
@@hemendraravi4787 R-77 is extremely close to Aim-120A/B. The argument I see being made most often by people downplaying the Aim-120 is that the ER is just better, and the AMRAAM isn't that good. Yes, R-77 exists. But if you shoot a Fox-1 at super long range and then follow it up with an R-77 from closer range, that isn't exactly the wombo-combo you think it is. Dude with the Aim-120's gets closer, shoots, and notches. ER plane then defends launch, or shoots R-77 and goes cold (He is now 2 missiles down for similar PK's). That other ER is now less useful since you can no longer leverage the range advantage and need to hold lock all the way to impact. It'd honestly just be better to take 6xR-77 since ER has more limitations and R-77 still has range competitive with the other Fox-3's. These will be the great equalizer

Well just talking about long range the AIM-54 is simply the best by ALOT and Jaek also found the same results that Silent did here.
no dude, look carefully to his video. Jaek did fire r27 and sparrow with the ARH in test. R27er is ALWAYS faster. Dude is not wrong, jaek is not wrong. you are wrong.
The thing is he can launch an AIM120 and turn away and the SU needs to retain lock
i have a gut feeling that gaijin is gonna add a better su27 that can carry r77 , so it can do both and better f15 that can carry aim120s + tws + hmd.
people really think that these fox 3's will be the most broken thing ever, well, just wait for the fox 2's like 9x, 73m, IRIS-T, these things are really scary.

Radars are bugged on every iteration of dev server, gajin should make this test on live server like they did with severe damage.

True,im forced to use HMD to radar lock people but fortunately M2K HMD has 20km range so at least I don’t suffer that much

Silent did u happen to test the aim54’s on the dev? They turn much better compared to live server and I feel like they’d be more competitive if they keep these changes once the update drops when dealing with long range foes

They aren’t even close to being finished though. Apparently they made all of them severely underperform for testing purposes.
I like their tracking strength though, i think it should stay like this. Its hard to dodge but very doable
"The games not ready for AMRAAM's they're going to be OP as fuck". Literally every person that's been talking about them since before the test server. Just like Spikes they though oh F&F missiles are goin to break the game. Everyone is going to be doing the exact same stuff as before hugging the ground and watching as the missiles dive into the ground. Possibly they might even notch whenever someone locks on.
No they are not. I will point that out that since the introduction of SARH misseles america has been stuck with a slow responding/bad G limit for almost 3 years now, not to count countries that used variantions of the sparrow they suffered the most, since America has received "upgraded" versions of it the UK and Sweden have been stuck with basically an AIM 7E-2 at top tier. So that comes to help them a lot and getting the 120 means we get
1. A faster response missele
2. Better G limit
And 3. Something to make top tier "balanced"
Since the ER was added what happened? Ppl just flew low bc what's the poont of being high if an ER is headed towards you all u can do is notch the radar? That's unbalanced and left USSR dominating top tier for almost 1 year now( mind the fact it was added back in the 1st update of 2023)
So in conclusion it's not overhyped it's a needed addition to either make USSR planes go low to or get ppl to climb again and try to do BVR kills again
R27E should just get removed entierely and Problemo solved...

@@diprosla592 that i agree with but it's more responsive than the AIM 7 i basically used it when spading the 27 as a short range IR misseles would only take shots within 5-8 KM that's about 3-5 bald eagles measuring units
from my experience on the dev server the AMRAAM is great becauze it's just a sparrow that's more reliable
I feel like I'm the only American main who doesn't see the so called Russian bias that exists in air RB, maybe ground RB at top tier is kinda imbalanced, but it all depends on the pilot in air RB
tws is kinda bad and i had a better experience hard locking with search or hmd and then break imidiently. Yes also the amraam is slower than the r27er but it can counter it cause you can defend the er and the amraam can track, thats my experience so faar. btw accpted the rules but i still cant see any voice chats on the dc or more.
Yeah that's what i said last vid but people always find an excuse to defend their already defeated ideas.

Yet he 120A wasn’t like the later variants. From the public sources and thoughts from pilots that used the 120A they said it wasnt that much better than the 7M sparrow.
Which is why they are adding the aim-120c… to Japan only
ngl the TWS thing is 100% a skill issue, Its pretty easy to tell missles apart on TWS quickly
On the dev the radar is scuffed which is why many are just hard locking for convenience.

correct but you cant deny gaijin trying to balance the aim-120. Even SIlent agrees that it had to be balanced. All in all it dont rlly matter because its js a game
If the AMRAAM isnt the best in class at top tier then there is zero reason to blame other than russian bias. The AMRAAM was inarguably the best Radar missile until maybe the advent of the PL-15 and will likely remain the case as the AMRAAM-D will be the last variant or upgrade more than likely. This is due to several long range programs scheduled to deliver a potential replacement for the ARAAM-D, The intent of the missile will be to compete if not dominate the pl-15's range using a dual prop system like the EU's Meteor but able to fit inside the weapons bays of F35/F22 as well as the NGAD. Hope Warthunder and I live long enough to see some of these planes in game.
Color me shocked that the Amraam is shit on the dev server. Doubt t it will change on live when it comes. All Russian missiles work as laid out in their design papers. 😅
