her and I driving down the canyon I'm smoking she leans over softly sings strawberry wine in my ear it's funny how some songs can really take u there and some love never fades I really miss that girl
Ok, I'm crying! Agree - genius. Can't believe more people don't appreciate RA but I think they're starting to come around again. Hoping he wins a Grammy, even if he doesn't, I'll be coming back and back.
back here 10 years after I found this song and fell in love. listened to it on repeat for days. Brilliant. Best description of heartbreak I've encountered.
Amazing performance and song. Mr. Adams is in the top 10 greatest singer/songwriters of all time. In my opinion hes just below Dylan and right there with John Prine, Neil Young etc... Thanks for this!
MLW 4-10-86....11-27-08 best fan of Ryan. This song is truley meant for those that have the hardship of acceptance and the misery of reality.... Her life gone too soon.
Catherine Popper is in Grace Potter's band The Nocturnals as of early 2009. Her harmonies with Ryan gave them a bit of a Emmylou/Gram sound, but her exit ended up giving us harmonies with Neal Casal over the next 3 years.
i didn't like it at first either tho i love it now. most songs of his/theirs that i disliked initially, i ended up liking or even loving after a few listens.
It blows my mind when i see 28million gobshites have viewed and listened to basshunters song on the top right but only 377K people have listened to real music by listening to Ryan Adams! Incredible song from an even more incredible man!
Great song, but thumbs up if you are a bit offended by OP's comment that "Catherine Popper is so nice to look at." What about her amazing musical talents?
Anybody know of more video from this session? Looks like Austin City Limits. The only ones I have found are this one and "Call Me on Your Way Back Home". Both are among my favorite live performances. I'd like to see the whole show or at least more from it. Please post if there are more. Thanks
I agree, the Cardinals needed those higher female harmonies that Catherine Popper provided. I mean it would've been great for her to sing the higher harmonies on "Two" or "Everybody Knows".
@stina20a yeah, i admire all that stuff too, his passion for his art, overcoming his demons (anyone who can write a song like "i taught myself how to grow old" has looked at them squarely...). i want him to be happy and not die at an early age as he almost did. i just hope he can continue to make great art/grow as an artist with his demons in check so we can all continue to love the music along with his denim legs that stand there so distractingly.
I didn't know that song by William Bell but I just listened to it, and you're right...is it a coincidence or was it a deliberate lift? Who's to know...Like you said, Ryan Adam's song is still great, "Now that you're gone" contains some of the best lyrics he's ever written, really heartbreaking.
UlrichUlrich right about what ? no one said that only musical geniuses could post here but these two niggas is lost in space Not even remotely similar in melodical composition or storyline geniuses pos
@tailesill4 Yeah - there is something about the hair. The shaggier the better on him. It's not the legs I'm looking at in the jeans though... :P I admire the man for every demon he's laid to rest in his life. He's a brilliant songwriter and poet. One correction though... definitely all man that one! : )
@stina20a yup. and the mussed up hair, and his legs in his jeans, his amazing creativity, his badass ways which are slightly immature but i understand--it all conspires to drive me crazy. but yes, we can start with his mouth.
This song is my Ryan song for my husband. he died seventeen months ago. I sit in our house and think of these words.
💙💙💙💙💙
God bless.
I can't even put into words how good this song is. Wow.
He’s an unbelievable songwriter. Time and history will remember him as overlooked.

I'm back 5 months later and I still love this song. Waiting for my Carnegie Hall CD.
Amazing performance and song. Mr. Adams is in the top 10 greatest singer/songwriters of all time. In my opinion hes just below Dylan and right there with John Prine, Neil Young etc... Thanks for this!

One of the greatest artists of all time, to be sure. Catherine Popper had the greatest job in the world. Wonder what happened.
Casals and Popper on the wings. Sweet. Love to see that again someday.

MLW 4-10-86....11-27-08 best fan of Ryan.
This song is truley meant for those that have the hardship of acceptance and the misery of reality.... Her life gone too soon.
Oh Ryan. That was lovely.
Beautiful song. But I miss Catherine Popper too!
not sure what's more awesome, this song or Ryan's Canadian Tuxedo
this music... wow...
Ryan kicks ass. Period.
Catherine Popper is in Grace Potter's band The Nocturnals as of early 2009.
Her harmonies with Ryan gave them a bit of a Emmylou/Gram sound, but her exit ended up giving us harmonies with Neal Casal over the next 3 years.

My Dream Is Watch This Guy Playing Live...!!!
It blows my mind when i see 28million gobshites have viewed and listened to basshunters song on the top right but only 377K people have listened to real music by listening to Ryan Adams! Incredible song from an even more incredible man!
Another fave from the great man. Anyone read his book yet?
we should make a petition to try to get catherine popper back in the band
Damn....i miss her...
This is a great live version of this song.
god i miss my girl, Mademoiselle Specialest I will love you always, wherever, whenever, whatever, etc
Disc 1 of Cold Roses... If you don't own this album, buy it. It's one of his best.
Great song, but thumbs up if you are a bit offended by OP's comment that "Catherine Popper is so nice to look at." What about her amazing musical talents?
HipsterFriend shut up with the pc police bs!
That's a Given or Ryan wouldn't have her there, so the onus falls back on you. Hes right, shes hot, we know shes good !!
Main riff lifted from William Bell's 'I Forgot To Be Your Lover.' Still a great song.
Papa Lindsey no, though we all won’t hear what you hear any rate: the storyline follows this melody and vice versa
such a great voice whenever i try to sing that song i sound like sheryl crow :( ! lol
Anybody know of more video from this session? Looks like Austin City Limits. The only ones I have found are this one and "Call Me on Your Way Back Home". Both are among my favorite live performances. I'd like to see the whole show or at least more from it. Please post if there are more. Thanks

Neal xo
those 11 dislikes had both hands of the doctor on the shoulders
Where are the rest of the ACL videos? That was such a great performance. That was the most tight I've ever seen him with the Cardinals.
Aside from what a great song this is... His hair is so fucking cool!
love and loss has broken up many musical artists
@Cationification Yes...? It's like saying, "He's miles ahead," except lightyears. It's still distance.
beautful song.... oh I shouldn't love Ryan so much he's too far from me... :S :)
it's annoying that every time i tell someone about ryan adams they ALWAYS say "bryan adams?" urg lol. ryan is brilliant

That is a song by Brian Adams, also good, but not by Ryan Adams to my knowledge, but I might be mistaken ofcourse...
well it has been 7 years.lol
still alive?
Where are you Ryan ? I'm alone

@DethByMyIbanezAxe parties at yours must be a blast
this was on one tree hill
if you like this, you should check out Dillon Campbell on itunes or cdbaby...
Yes...too many to say...
@stina20a yup. and the mussed up hair, and his legs in his jeans, his amazing creativity, his badass ways which are slightly immature but i understand--it all conspires to drive me crazy. but yes, we can start with his mouth.
They wouldn't do it because they got in a fight a while back. I think something to do with Adams calling Black a "Little Girl".
What guitar is he using?
Sorry? where you talking to me, I just stated that this wasnot Bryan but Ryan Adams, in answer of the comment above.
That would be ace if you would!
anyone who likes this should check out Dillon Campbell, as well. He's got a video on here called "Time Will Heal".
if you like this song and artist, you should check out Dillon Campbell's "Wrong and Right" and "Absence of Lies"...also on youtube and quite good!
KICKASSSSS!
@tailesill4 Good one!
So somebody made a mistake, no need to call him an idiot....
Compare to the raconteurs of recent “now that you’re gone”
One of his best?
@killdaclownz hahaha you got that right!!
Much better than those hacks Jackson and Jefferson @ mathewpauljones
I think that's 'Bumgardner.'
Ovations suck. He's playing an old Epiphone Frontier.
