Большое вам спасибо за этот замечательный учебник! Прекрасные мелодии для обоих рук, аккомпанемент, иллюстрации… одно удовольствие!❤
Thank you so much. Really good to hear your appreciation! Hope you get on well with it
I notice you haven’t posted in a very long time. I mention it because I have a question about a song that I believe has a Melodica solo on it. If you still read any of these comments I’ll let you know what I’m talking about.
Superb work, Daren! I so love the illustrations and the extra background information in the book all looks amazing!
Thanks bro!
Bought your book and blown away. I was terrified. When I was a kid I had a desire to learn to play the piano but my parents said we cannot afford lessons or instruments... so never learnt any music and once I finished school I went to work. Never had time... now my little girl wanted to learn... It took me a while and managed to find a teacher so she only just started lessons. She's only 6. She received a gift, a melodica from a friend of mine in the US. Now I bought your book and we are learning together and it feels like a childhood dream just got picked up, dusted off and magic pixie dust is making it fly. We are playing together and loving your way of teaching. I didn't know if I could do it but you make it so easy. Thank you ❤ lots of love from Latvia 🇱🇻 from Minka & Minka's mummy ❤❤❤
We bought the ebook because we travel a lot and for anything to arrive to Latvia it takes forever. I would have to learn with my grandchildren if I was waiting for Latvijas Pasts to deliver anything 🤣 used to live in the UK, there things just get delivered. So glad the ebook version was available, we could get started immediately! We are big fans 🙏🙏🙏
+Bee Varga The Hulahooper so nice to hear from you, Minka’s mummy :-) This is what makes it all worthwhile for me! I saw you just joined the Facebook group. Please ask any questions there, when you have any, I’m happy to help. I checked out your channel too, love it, just subscribed :-)
Oh, and please leave an Amazon review if you can, it would be really helpful :-)
@@MelodicaWorld thank you 🙏 left a review already and will be leaving comments here, too - should help with the channel's visibility. Especially good before Christmas, people could be buying melodicas and the book as a present. I'm a Hungarian & that makes Minka think she will be the next Kodaly or Bartok or Peter Bence 🤣 when you're 6 it's obvious you can be anything you dream of 🤣 she's asking at what age you started learning music 🎶
@@BeeVargaTheHulahooper I hope she does become the next melodica star! I started piano lessons when I was 7. I didn't know about melodicas then :-)
Классная книга! Обязательно куплю. Спасибо за обзор!❤
a new video from this channel just when i needed it. recently got my first melodica last week and i was looking for good channels online to learn from. thank you for making these educational videos!
Glad to be of help!
Daren you're amazing. Keep up the good work. You have helped me so much in my melodica journey. You are doing a great service to this incredible instrument I appreciate the Dickens out of you!
Hi Seth, thanks so much for the feedback, really good to hear how you’ve benefited!
@@MelodicaWorld will you make videos again?
Copy duly ordered.
Wonderful news! I’m sure your book will be a great success Darren! My copy should be here in a day or two and is eagerly anticipated.
Thanks for all your hard work.
Thanks so much for ordering a book! Let me know how you get on :-)
Hi Daren, thank you so much for making this channel! I just bought my first melodica today and am having a blast with it. I'm only trained as a guitarist and singer so this instrument does not come naturally to me, which is why I am grateful to have found your channel. Do you plan to make more videos in the future? Thank you so much for all of your great work!
Great work Daren. I am new to the instrument and having fun with your new book. Thank You so much.
Great to hear this Del - good luck!
Thank you for all the lessons. There aren't many thorough lessons for melodica out there
Thanks for watching:-)
thanx alot
I like how you play irish music with the melodica. I bought your book yesterday and tomorrow, I will receive it. I'm sure I will learn a lot!
Thanks for your job!
Thanks Jérémie, let me know how you find it, any questions, I’m here!
@@MelodicaWorld Hi Daren!
I received your book. It's very well organized and progressive. I recommend it so much. The backing tracks audios and the musical examples are very well done. It's a book very complete and it's a pleasure turning the pages with these beautiful and artistic illustrations.
Just a problem. I want to buy book 2 right now, so please work on it, I'll buy it for sure.
Thanks a lot for your work, I really want to keep learning to play melodica. You could perhaps in a next book show us the potential of the instrument in diferents styles of music (classical, jazz, pop, irish music, etc.). I'm very interested.
Congratulations!
@@melodicar2287 Thanks so much, really pleased you like it! Would you be able to write an Amazon review? It would be the first one :-) And please stay in touch, your ideas are valuable to me. Any questions let me know!
@@MelodicaWorld Hi Daren!
I have just let a review in Amazon. In a few, they will publish it. I have done all the lessons of your book in the standard way (with the melodica on a table in front of me). But now, I want to improve myself doing the same with the melodica in vertical position (with the Japanese position). Do you think it's a good idea to try to get this technique? I heard you say in a video that it's the best way (tip 10).
Some musicians used the thumb in the left hand, others not (you said in this video that the thumb of the left hand hold the melodica), I'm trying to use the 5 fingers on my left hand, doing technical exercises to improve it. Do you think it's better to use the thamb on the left hand or not?
Thanks for your job!
I'm waiting for book 2!!
@@melodicar2287 thanks so much for the great review Jeremie! Really appreciate it :-) for 2 handed playing in the vertical position, I think the ideal way would be to use your thumb in the left hand. It would give you more options when playing
I'd really enjoy it if you did more melodica Reviews🙃
Dude, you gotta do a video about one of the most famous melodica players of all time, Augustus Pablo.
I just bought the book 😮
Thanks! If you need help with anything, post on this forum: melodicaworld..com
Please make new more videos. I like to watch all of them
Thanks Julianus, more coming soon :-)
Thanks Julianus, more coming soon :-)
Hi Daren, sent an email a week or so ago. via your site to register to create login to Melodica World site. I've ordered your book, just waiting for delivery to Australia, hope you're well. 🎹🎹🎹🎼😎
Hi, sorry for the delay, I think I just found your registration email. Thanks so much for buying the book, see you on the forum!
i dont even have a melodica i just like watching these types of videos, maybe ill get into some instruments
I ran off an bought a cheapo one on Amazon after finding this channel.
Hi, I really like your tutorial. I couldn't get Book 2 on Amazon. Is it already out there. Take care
Hi Christine, there is no book 2 at this time :-)
Darren, are you working on Book 2? I bought book 1 and it's a very good method to learn melodica but I want to keep learning!
Hi Jérémie, I'm not working on Book 2 yet. If you send a message via my website, I may be able to help
I miss your new video... 😇
hello , i recently got a suzuki m37c, i like the tone but i find the keys a little on the small side. i have heard that the hohner professional 36 has larger keys but this model is hard to find and pricey. knowing that you have had your hands on many a melodica, have you any suggestions on a melodica with larger keys?
I can’t remember if any had larger keys to be honest, they’re all very similar sizes
How to remove moiature after playing? I have Hohner Student 32
Press the button at the end and blow the moisture iut
This is probably a dumb question, but how far does this book take you? I've been looking for something that goes beyond the basics for a while and this may be just what I'm looking for.
Hi Luna, it takes you to key signatures and scales!
Mr. Daren, do you teach online lessons? I’m super interested in learning with you. I have experience in classical piano and cello and now I’m super interested in melodica!
Hi Philip, great to hear about your enthusiasm! I’m looking into providing online lessons at the moment
@@MelodicaWorld Hi Mr. Daren, glad to hear from you! How could I reach out to you?
Im interested in the book, but not sure whether i’ll get online resource access if I buy kindle version?
Yes, you’ll get a link in the book to the recordings
Hey, how come you haven't been uploading? Also I have a video idea, compare old melodicas to new melodicas, and then battle it out just like with the most expensive melodica vs the cheapest melodica video.
Nice idea! Thanks :-)
Hey, great video, but... i have a HOHNER melodica alto and soprano but they're bolth vintage and don't have a cord to blow on the table. How can i play them with bolth hand comfortably? Or do i need an extension to the mouth peace?
Or do i just get good xD
You can make a tube - get some food grade rubber tubing and tape it to the mouthpiece
@@MelodicaWorld thank you xD
I'll try this.
Greetings Daren, I need your help. I want to buy a melodica but I don't know which one to choose, the HOHNER Airboard Rasta 32, Yamaha (P37D), and the Honner ocean.
I need one that will hold my money and sound good.
The Yamaha P37D is the highest quality of those 3, and my personal favourite!
@@MelodicaWorld Wow, thank you very much. 🙏
Hey Daren, I hope your doing fine since you are not uploading much. Could you do a tutorial on how to clean melodicas?
Hey, I’m good thanks! Have a look at this article which I recently made - you’ll have to scroll down…
melodicaworld.com/whats-a-melodica/
@@MelodicaWorld Thanks! I saw the cleaning part. But could you also do a video if possible?
Hey Daren, I got my melodica 4 days ago and I'm practicing as much as I can. The problem I have is water getting into the pipe. I have to take out the pipe and blow it every now and then to get the water out... So I tried playing with the smaller mouthpiece you get, but the problem with that is I really cant see the notes while I'm practicing. Playing songs which I've practiced for a long time is fairly easy, but songs which I've just started practicing is hard to play with the small mouthpiece. Do you only use the small mouthpiece or also use the pipe? Thanks
It’s normal to have to blow out moisture from the pipe. It stops too much moisture getting to the reeds. So a good thing!
@@MelodicaWorld True... It was a fuss before but now I'm getting used it it. I just had another doubt, While playing long parts in a song or a piece, It's difficult to keep blowing air for too long. I've tried Circular breathing but that's way too advanced for me. Do you have any tips on how to keep blowing air for a long time?
@@memegod0166 Playing the note quietly will make it last longer! But the more you play/practice, the more air you'll have for long notes
@@MelodicaWorld I've practiced quite a bit, I think I've got the hang of this instrument... I saw your video on circular breathing where you play a reel called the "Old Red Lion" composed by you. Can you give the notes for the song? Thanks a ton!
Hello! I wanted to ask where I could get sheet music for Melodica
You can use most music for violin and flute. It’s a similar range. There’s lots of free music for these instruments online
@@MelodicaWorld I thought so, I tried and it worked for the most part but sometimes they would have notes in higher octaves especially if I go up with the difficulty of the pieces
@@nerdcartoon2544 sometimes you have to make your own arrangements/ adjustments :-)
This is probably a dumb question, but where do you find music sheets for playing melodica two-handed? Did you write your own arrangements?
Not dumb at all! Yes, I had to write my own arrangements, is no-one seems to be writing 2 handed arrangements. You could look at piano music, but you'd have to make some changes for it to work on the melodica. Especially considering that the lower notes are louder in a chord!
@@MelodicaWorld Thanks for the reply. It seems like it will be a while until I can do that. Melodica sounds so rich with two-handed playing. You could totally write a book dedicated to two-handed arrangement.
