To be totally Frank this is the one thing that i was really looking for. there are so many videos on UA-cam by people who have thousands of hours and they've kind of lost the perspective and for somebody such as yourself who just passed their instrument I think it's a pretty much the most useful information that I could find for my IFR check ride. thank you
*my instructor yelled at me about not knowing how the VSI works, I think you may as well learn as an IR pilot, because you'll need to know for CPL anyway. Great video, thank you!*
Awesome video, I’m still a few months out from my IR checkride but if I learned one thing in my ppl training it was that it’s good to study ahead to understand concepts/ memorize things easier. Hope your flying is going well!
Great advice and great video. But be careful about saying on social media about what a DPE let you get away with because that's something to keep personal. What they let you slide on, the FAA might not approve of and might question the DPE's ethics and possibly cause a loss of the DPE's certification. Other than that great info video.
Awesome content and glad I watched this a month before my test. My oral was very scenario-based, which plays into knowing the pilot’s cafe sheet. I also made my own flash cards for the acronyms. They gave me my approaches AFTER I passed my oral. Passed a couple days ago, and am so psyched! Damn, that WAS hard!
Great video man. Can you make a video of how you built your kneeboard? I love that you have it as a binder and note pad. I'd like to know how you set yours up.
Thanks Andrew. That was very informative and it validates my study method since I am doing the very same things you point out. The PilotCafe reference checklist I also found to be spot-on and use it the same fashion you have done. Great work Andrew and many successes in your future pursuits as a pilot. Aloha!
hey, Great video!! thank you! I did not know what the C means before you mentioned in this video either. I read the TPP (Terminal Procedure Procedure). In the legend section, it says that circling approaches developed after late 2012 used an expanded protection area, which has increased area with increasing altitude. these circling minimums for those approaches are marked by that C. those approaches designed with standard protection areas dont have the C in the black square. But, man, great video!!! thank you!
Great vid bud, one correction tho, 7:34 when you spoke about the negative “C” on approach plates you said it’s for “alternate circling minimums” but that answer isn’t correct,…. Before 2012 they had standard circling minimums and after 2012 some charts might use “expanded circling minimums” if the negative C is there that means it’s the Expanded Circling minimums…. You can reference the Terminal Procedures Supplement page 6 on ForeFlight to see the explanation of that negative C
VSI is easy. Air enters a diaphragm and the instrument case. The case pressure is relieved slowly via a calibrated leak and the difference between the case pressure and the diaphragm pressure gives you your reading.

Thank you very much! Very useful video.
Wonderful video Andrew! Hope am not asking for much, but could you upload your personal cheat sheet for us? It would be wonderful.
I need this cheat sheet for everyday review!
Pilot's cafe is a whole 32 page document now. Also, did you not read any of the handbooks? You only used what you brought up in this video??
So looks like that cheat sheet is no longer available. Any way to post it if you still have it?
HELL YES! Huge thanks!
How may I get the sheet you show us

Mmm i think you should know how your instruments work , is basics.. maybe have a general idea
AidAno H well, HSI deals with all those flux gate stuff too scientific to test on

Just study the ACS.
The questions you said you didn’t know I know them all so I guess I have studied good lol?
