The drums are the only thing that improved. The overall track is actually WORSE off. This engineer had absolutely no semblance of a clue when it came to the levels or the guitar tracks in general.
Ngl I love both versions of this song, but there's some kind of feeling the OG version had that's missing. I love the the new bass lines tho and this is definitely mixed better than the OG version
For the longest time I've thought I've been insane for not knowing lyrics song titles, artist etc but bands like you, polyphia and who ever else I may find let me know there is a unspoken musical language ❤
I feel like a good deal of bands in the last decade have ruined breakdowns in music. This songs breakdown at 3:42 is so good. I’m kind of sad this album doesn’t have a CD version. It’s one I want in my car forever. I hope cover keeps playing music for years and years to come! And hope we can see them tour again
this is super rad i got a big ares vibe when yvette called out "older songs that have too much flashy guitar, and the other instruments are boring" (or something like that) in interviews this is definitely the upgrade it needed..and it was great before
When I heard it like this on tour in Philly I was hoping for a re-recording but it usually doesn't happen. I'm glad it did. i mean i ran the original version but when i heard this one i completely lost it. It's on every playlist i can get it on. The engineering is soooooo clean.
I think I would've preferred the intro from the original because it has a weird vibe, but this version is much more fun to listen to throughout the entire rest of the song.
If I have to note something here, the original felt tighter, letting the main melody guitar take center stage, while this one feels way looser in its make. Overall, this might just be me not being quite used to this version, but I like the original a fair bit more. The original has these small pieces of near silence, almost like punctuation marks, while this one always has something going on. Almost like whoever different in the making from this version and the old version was a bit scared of letting the tune be quiet for a split second. I'll still bring this version with me, but I really do like tiny bits and pieces of silence after something "big" happened.
Ares single version: I AM ARES HEAR ME ROAR!!! ares album version: has lowercase A and is telling a story along side this companions. still roaring but not as loud, more controlled yet primal at his core
I NEED to see this live with Forrest. Anyone know if there is footage of this being played live in the Forrest era? I watched their live stream a few weeks back but unfortunately Ares was left out of that set. Was still a fantastic set, but was just a tiny sad as Ares is my favorite Covet song.
All you had to do was hit-swap the bass drum track or just improve the bass drum's eq and mixing on the original... but I genuinely I think the original sounds way better than this, *especially* the guitars
damn, this song got a serious face-lift since the last version
Because of ya boy Forrest
booda bass goes way harder in this version too
I just ran into the old music video, I hardly recognized it since I listened to the updated version first. Definitely better engineered on this album.
The drums are the only thing that improved. The overall track is actually WORSE off. This engineer had absolutely no semblance of a clue when it came to the levels or the guitar tracks in general.
This is probably their best song ever. So glad its on an album now and has great production to back it up.
Yes :)
Anon, that is a naughty pfp
Julien Genty love the bass and drums in this version
Lol the original recording is leaps and bounds better
@@DamienTheCat you think the drum machine sounds better over Forrest playing it?
This is probably their best song ever
This is a remastered version of an older song from their first album. The original is awesome :)
I'm sorry but this is not even close to Howl.
And this is really fkin great don't get me wrong
@@Bluesky35102 howl is their grimmest song. Shibuya on the other hand is lively.
Bluesky howl is also my favorite. That and nautilus
@@kazmikh342 Shibuya is also freakin awesome
The first was a boss fight now this version is a final form boss fight🔥
4:29 damn that new harmony there is too good
Honestly can’t decide if I like the 2017 single version or this version more. They both kick ass though.
Newer version sounds super clean
Ngl I love both versions of this song, but there's some kind of feeling the OG version had that's missing. I love the the new bass lines tho and this is definitely mixed better than the OG version
original version is more flowy and "oriental" like. new version is more mechanical and metal like.
Not for me man. I much prefer this version. I love the old version but always thought it felt cluttered and more shreddery than math rocky
For the longest time I've thought I've been insane for not knowing lyrics song titles, artist etc but bands like you, polyphia and who ever else I may find let me know there is a unspoken musical language ❤
This might be their most balls-to-the-wall-from-start-to-end tune, yet.
*MAKE A SONG CALLED 'ERIS', SHE IS THE SISTER OF ARES AND GODDESS OF STRIFE AND DISCORD*
THIS IS SO INCREDIBLE

this is some good stuff babey !!!
yoooo that bass tone
So thankful with this version, it's more fluid. Keep killing it

the one I liked most, so far.

And holy shit the ending of this one just hits so much harder, love it
My favorite of this album . slams out the jams
as much as I love this rendition, the previous version of the song makes me feel a lot more
Yes! 69th like. Also, this face lift made an already great song even better
Absolutely love this rendition :)
Gives me fucking chills
yes

I don't know of any live footage of Forrest on Ares, but I've seen the current lineup play this live and it's probably the best thing I've ever heard.
i love u and ur music yvette.... come to India soon...🤘
Upgraded :)
They took out all the soup from the first one.... The levels aren't even close to where they need to be
i love the part where you press 7 on your keyboard
i just press 7 over and over
wait how does she tremolo pick with her fingers
i saw on her ig that she was trying out using a pick for recording so maybe this was one of those songs
I hear that part you're talking about.
a tribute to G?G! ;)
All you had to do was hit-swap the bass drum track or just improve the bass drum's eq and mixing on the original... but I genuinely I think the original sounds way better than this, *especially* the guitars
Dislike. The original Ares is much better! 😭
Nah this is such a glow up
I love the guitar in the original, but the production on this is so good and that bass tone slaps ass.
I agree but I don't agree, the guitar is AMAZING in the original one but this one feels way more complete
You can like the other version better without disliking this video and proclaiming it to the world, you know that right?
