Covet was formed in 2014 by bay Area guitarist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist Yvette Young. Young grew up playing piano and violin, eventually applying techniques from both instruments to guitar. The melodic two-handed tapping fingerstyle guitar sound that resulted from Young’s classical training is the cornerstone of Covet’s self described, “emotional nerd rock” sound. Their Far Out session at Architectural Artifacts showcase’s the trio’s symphonic post-rock sounding compositions and dexterity. Check out Covet on Audiotree Far Out!
Recorded live at Architectural Artifacts in Chicago, IL.

Love the new lineup. Been a fan for years and very glad Yvette has new bandmates who she trusts and can move forward with.
I’m out of the loop, what happened with the old members?
Yeah i’m also curious. What happened to the old member?
@@bunglebenjoyer It’s a little unclear what happened. I’d post a link directly but YT won’t allow that. So I’d say google “Covet’s Yvette Young Breaks Free” to find an article on Premier Guitar that intimates some of what was going on. I don’t want to push more gossip that has been on forums because these are real, normal people, and what we say matters. But yeah, it sounded like a bad situation for Yvette.
@@02.anggerrangas52 Both previous memebers had lots of allegation against them. The band almost fell apart so Yvette got new members
@@bunglebenjoyer wonder that too. because David just left and then Forrest abruptly left when finishing their latest album seems so weird
So glad this riff has been turned into a whole song!
This is my most listened to band of the last few years. It's so easy to just put on and repeat throughout the day. Really happy to see them around and getting recognized for their talent.
Yep and this music makes you feel GOOD 🤘🖤
Yvette's "Orange Sparkle" sparkles so hard it looks like JPEG compression lol! I'm glad to see more stuff rolling out showcasing the current band, you guys sound great and I can't wait to catch yall next time a tour comes through!
Covet getting an Audiotree session is long overdue! So glad it's finally happened. Love this band.
They actually had one for Currents, it's great.
I was about to say the same. Waaaay back in the day
Wow this performance of firebird was amazing. I love this new line-up for the band, they have a way better chemistry or ... vibe .. energy ... I am not sure. It just seems better. Great recording too.
Also that part of the solo at 4:45 is so sick I love that so much
I didn't realize Forrest wasn't playing drums for Covet anymore. This new drummer is excellent though! Covet rules so hard! Yvette is my hero!
Yvette couldn’t stand the fact that the drums and bass were “outshining” her, so she fired them and hired people who could play tamer so she wouldn’t feel threatened.
@@Ch0c0b0 I'm pretty sure Forrest left on his own volition. He left his other band too
@@Ch0c0b0 hah no, Forrest and David were kicked out for being horrible man-children. I've heard a lot of people say they've had bad experiences involving them both. It is, after all, Yvette's band. she writes the music and she should feel safe around the people she has to tour with.
@@Ch0c0b0 Who hurt you?
@@JimClements absolutely, infact in one comment I saw. Someone asked, "Why David's not in the tour"
Her reply was, "absolutely not"
she definitely did the right thing, if she really felt unsafe around them 💀
I tear up every time I hear this song. ❤MUSIC
That is legit the absolute sparkliest guitar I've ever seen
Have you seen the yellow/green one she has? Even sparklier!
I love Art Antiquities, Futurism... looks like the new band members are going to work out well what are fresh sound
ABSOLUTELY the best version ever of the tune! Her new band mates are monsters as well! Bravo!!!
The entire band is amazing.!!!!! Looks like they are having the best time ever.
What a party 🎉 sounding so tight and clean! 🙌🏻 I love this song
This is such a beautiful song!
I'm in love with this performance, awesome band I'm becoming a huge fan
Yvette the orange sparkle looks amazing in this video 🤩
Yvette makes it look so easy!
YESSS Covet + Audiotree is my favorite combo I didn’t know I needed
Tastiest band out there
soooo rockin'!!! \m/\m/ i'm glad we have this version to enjoy for years to come!
Is there going to be a complete session video?! I love these peeps!
Snare tuning be making me drool.
Amazing song and performance. See you in Tokyo! 🎉
They are killing it!
Yvette please come to México, CDMX.
Incredible. I love it so much
A HUGE INSPIRATION 🙏✨️🔥❤️
what a great song
This is beautiful/rad! 👏
YES!Covet!!!
Perfect
Great song, great performance, great musicians, 🙌🏽
I see myself pogoing in front of a stage at a festival somewhere. I'm getting a Pat Metheny meets Lotus vibe 😁
So goooooood !!!
this is an incredible watch.
All three of you are a gift. This is spectacular. 🖤💙
It's the red bull riff! Glad it became a song!
Miss forest. She’s good
Thank you!
YVETTE!!!!
Not that the old line up was bad by any means but this line up kills. Super melodic all around. I'll be interested to hear how it goes on a track with more metric modulation, but this tune is delicious!
New drummer is k i l l e r
❤
give a raise to the video production team (and the colorist!)
I recognize the drummer from Rob Scallon's videos, she killed it! Wonder what happened to their usual guy though.
Forrest left shortly after the bassist about a year ago:/ but his solo project called wølfy is actually really awesome!
@@jmay1975 I'll check it out for sure
I'm curious, does this performance utilize a backing track for extra guitar parts. I felt like I was hearing additional parts. Wonder if it's got anything to do with the pedals Yvette has.
Yep definitely a backing track
Yes
she shreds
love me Covet! if only Ibanez offered a YY model with proper, chunky metal flakes.
hi, I took this screenshot from November 18 2023, I've only been looking for it for a few months now, I took the screenshot because I was curious and I'll look for it if I have time ahahah😂😂
Inspirational
I would love to make a custom guitar based on the fit of the progressions of thier Shared loves in life.
Pleas' come to Australia.
amazing
G00!!!!!!!!
🙌🏽❤
Audiotree and Covet, name a better combo... don't worry, I'll wait...
I was born in the right generation.
mmmm....twang central 😵💫
I greatly prefer this drummer.
Art is subjective but somehow you're still wrong.
@@whatdothlife4660 No u
Same, much better feel
New drummer?
Jessica Burdeaux. She’s a spectacular drummer.
she's a regular in rob scallon's videos! @@Shwayzbox
Where does she find these drummers
Missing Forrest Rice.
Guqinator time machine?
i need tabs for this
Is it just me but the melody really remind me of some J-Jazz Funk
What happened to smiley?
Goddamn forest is gone and I miss him.
You’re not allowed to outshine Yvette!
YY10 in orange?!?
It's the YY20
@@jasg7894 its actually not! the YY20 is a tele config, I would imagine this guitar is a Talman with the specs of the YY10 that she painted her self, she is known to do that.
@@cicadasolberg1976 Oh wow! Good catch, I didn't realize. I play lefty so I've never had a chance to play either one but I've kind of been psyching myself up to maybe pull the trigger and buy one of the signatures and play it upside down because it was Yvette playing a talman on youtube like 10 years ago that inspired me to pick up the guitar a few years ago.
Audiotree and VHS? Hmm :)
Drummer plays in a way more straightforward style than the previous one. It kinda reminds me of Chad Smith tbh 😂
unreal.. just wished they played bronco
Redbull
😴
change drummer? wheres the smiling guy
This entire genre sounds like one long run on song. It's cool, but lacks dynamics.
Needed some vocals
nope its perfect :)
Respectfully disagree. Practically perfect as it stands. 🫶
lol he doesn't get it guys
No
no.
