- Genesis RC Boat Prop Shaft Fail! Too Much Power?
Quick Video of my Genesis RC Boat. I was trying to run the boat with an upgraded power system. I added a HobbyKing XK4074-2000kv motor and a HobbyWing 180A Sea King Boat ESC. The power may be too much, it broke the prop shaft coupler right off! I repaired the boat already and hoping to get out soon to run it again.

I have a weird question with your steering rudder why won't you use the Waterpik up on the steering rudder instead of the other water pickup behind the propeller cuz when you ran the Genesis I seen water come up from the actual water pick up on the rudder
Wow, broke the shaft from too much torque. I hope you have better luck next time out. The boat Frank is building looks cool as well, good luck on your first run.
Guys that boat uses a floating shaft. the square end floats inside that part that broke on you. You might want to upgrade to a one piece welded shaft in a larger size cable. Like a .187 flex cable, but that also requires replacing the strut or drilling the strut on a mill or good drill press to get a nice straight hole for new bushings.

you need to run a gap on your flex tube at the strut.
Hi mate I just got one of theses boats with a hobbywing 120amp 2-6s ESC and an old original apparition motor 1620kv can I run 6s on this
Doubt it was too much power. More likely that it was having an over-sized prop that wasn't properly balanced that broke the shaft.
What would happen if you would of added a Leopard 4074 / 1800kv?
Did you lose the prop? Always sucks to lose a prop you have a lot of time invested in.
What flex shaft did you end up going with?
I hate when this happens 😢 this just happened to me on my ZELOS twin with a $70 prop.. i wanted to go diving for that lol one shaft stayed in tact and the other let go so i lost one prop
