- The Second World War in Victoria 2. Is it better than Hearts of Iron? We're fighting as the UK, so let's REINFORCE SOME FAKKIN' BATTLES, face our darkest hour, and boldly lead the allies to victory over the axis. This is a thrilling war with lots of banter, and the greatest last stand ever at the end. Welcome to Hearts of Victoria.
Even in an unfinished and unbalanced state the mod is probably more fun than HOI4. This was edited from a Twitch stream. And by the way, the edgy version of the German flag is used in this and there are many jokes about these historical events. Hopefully that doesn't get me demonetised right guys!

i love how in real life, world war 2 military casualties was 21-25 million, and in this game it was 28.5 million. its a rarity to see it that close, as when me and my friends play games like hoi4 usually we cap around a total of 8 million
because in hoi4 you barely take any manpower casualties
although in vic2 you take far too many
As Netherlands I should have built more transports, then I may have been able to actually help more. It was a fun session this should be brought back every once in a while like the WW1 mod.
Yea I plan on having more 1-offs like this on occasion for the casuals to join in on. It takes a lot of coordination and planning so for a college student I don’t find a lot of time to do this as often.

The whole gas attack thing kind of makes sense for the invasion of france from a historical balance standpoint but makes no sense in any other way.
We wanted some realism in the mod, Pierre and I both agreed Germany was to have a large advantage from the get-go

I play hoi4 competitively and to be fair I don t know much about Victoria 2 but next time maybe don t allow players on Yugo and Greece, if the axis can t occupy them it s so easy for allied troops to get in Europe. A Japan that loses to China is obviously a huge disadvantage as well since no one is keeping the UK and US tied up in Asia, but again I don't know much about Victoria so you l need to find your own way to balance that. Otherwise great game and good luck with future games.
I honestly love how Spudgun has made this feel like a whole new episode to one of the series like American Bloodbath or Poland-Lithuania! Keep up the great work Spudgun!

Ahh HoI2, the game where you can assassinate Roosevelt on 4 July, good times.
The biggest balance breaker here, by far, is an open Bosphorus/open Baltic.
Granted, very few games model naval mines to any degree, but any serious UK force that ventures into the Baltic risks being bombed and mined to oblivion. As for the Bosphorus, violating that neutrality almost certainly means that Turkey joins the war.

Oos means you are desynced from the game litterally on a diffrent time line and the further you go the more diffrences occur somehow you usally can play awhile when oos but will eventually crash.
As the US building troops and sending them over to Europe was a real pain in the ass, so I didnt even mobilise lol
Getting the correct amount of artillery, infantry and airplanes was a real pain in the ass when you have to micro a few fronts and ship divs over

I think also having player rules that cannot be implemented in Victoria 2 is good such as if Germany invaded Either Denmark or Norway, the allies are not allowed to enter the Baltics. Similarly, I think allied ships should also not be allowed to enter the black sea due to Turkey.
Some mods do that, like making the Bosphorus a canal. On the other hand, historically, Germany was still blockaded to death despite the fact that the British couldn't enter the Baltic.
We could create a ‘straight’ connection for this but in the end it’d be useless. The main reason to acquire land in hoi4 is for the factories and resources but within Victoria your unable to possess any resources or factories whenever a province is occupied.
@@alioshax7797 My reason for the allies being blocked in entering baltic is to avoid amphibious landing from that area to support the USSR.
Playing as romania i felt like i was loosing the entire time i was in the war.

IDK if the mod does this but for WW2 I think it makes sense for tanks to be backline units that you pair with motorized infantry, the point of them was that they could drive along with the exploitation troops and give them fire support.

@@ivanthegod49 The tanks were still meant as support weapons for infantry. The problem for Germany at the end of WW1 was that they figured out how to get infantry past trenches but the artillery couldn't reach far enough to support them, so after the war they took the tanks that were designed as mobile machine gun nests and turned them into mobile direct artillery. Tanks were always support weapons for the infantry.
@@1EthanCC I know tanks always had the main quest of supporting the infantry which makes sense but as my comment says that in the blitzkrieg doctrine tank did the pushing if i remember it right.
@@ivanthegod49 German tank divisions had more personnel assigned to motorized infantry than tanks (same for other armies as time went on, but early war formations could be weird). Tactically, generally infantry went in first then the panzers would follow up, then spearhead past where the infantry had pushed to.

China has tons of troops, Japan doesnt start with enough tech nor troops to actually pull off anything besides a difficult defense. Also the China player was better.

@@TIMMEME well, I guess if both sides agreed to it, ok but crossing the straits seems highly advantageous to allies and well, it was somewhat the final blow the the axis and well, I guess the axis didn't say anything because the game was ending anyway or you did allow it for the game. Or you didn't go to detail on how the war would be which I doubt.
