  • In this video, I talk about the things that I've learned from observing 'Naturally Skinny' people's eating habits and their lifestyles. How do they stay so thin and never gain weight? How do they eat junk food like I do but stay so small? The truth is, anyone will put on weight if they overeat on a daily basis. Watch this video to find out what habits you can learn from skinny people.

even if a skinny person does overeat one day, they eat a lot less the next day subconsciously. because that excess energy from the overeating will carry over into the next day and they will be less hungry.

I've always joked that I eat like a snake. Large amount of food on day one and little to nothing the next tqo days. I've also always been irritated by the amount of people who tell me I need to eat 3 meals a day EVERY day. Ugh no. I'll eat when I'm hungry and won't when I'm not.

@@cicelymasden4477 I don't think that behaviour will last you long term. we all crash eventually from skipping meals. for me skipping one daily meal resulted in slight binging bc I was always feeling hungry. then for a while I used to do like one meal a day plus snacks every now and then. eventually crashed from lack of energy. consistent 3 daily meals (that are healthy and right portion) will take you further and are promoted for a reason. breakfast is already one of the lightest meals so you're actually only consuming 2.5 meals a day. your glucose levels will be more consistent and healthy too. eating 3 times a day, no snacking vs intermitting fasting but eating large portioned meals (which expands your stomach and trains you to be more hungry and consume larger portions).

@@3xitthissid3 Of all the three meals. The breakfast should be the heaviest. In terms of calories or protein intake. People usually miss this point and they eat very light during the breakfast.

    They don’t force feed themselves
    2. They are not hyper focused on food. They enjoy there meal and the event (talking to others, environment etc)
    3. You should eat when your hungry (your stomach will growl) and then stop when your hunger goes away stop eating and you don’t need to go beyond that point
    4. Skinny people don’t binge, they will have small amounts of sweets that’s all
    5. They are not interested in food once there hunger goes away they stop eating. Don’t overrating
    6. They intermittent fast
    7. Don’t diet if ur a teen or child it will stunt growth
    8. Calories in vs calories out (burn more calories consume less food). Don’t crash diet this is a lifestyle change, it’s a skinny lifestyle not diet.
    9. They eat small amounts of junk/sweets for example they have a bite of KitKat and that’s it.
    10. They aren’t emotional if they don’t get to cherish they’re cravings they realize they will get there cravings eaten later maybe in future they will have but they aren’t compulsive with food
    11. They are more active, they walk around n do stuff and do some exercise
    12. They aren’t greedy with food, food is plentiful they’re is abundance learn to share food, Don’t hold so much attachment to it.

Two things that have really blown my mind, and has opened up my mind from this video has been:
    1. Being stuffed is an unacceptable state to be in - not "uncomfortable" , not "bad", it is simply a state that should never happen, actually such a step change.
    2. The food you are craving, or want to eat now will exist and be attainable tomorrow too.

that's not a naturally skinny person that's a person who has a problem with eating. some underweight people don't have an ed per se but they are either people who are too busy for food, uninterested in eating, or picky eaters. none of it is healthy. you might not feel hunger but you need to still consume something for energy. usually people that I've mentioned over do it on coffee, energy drinks, and sodas. the over consumption of which is unhealthy. by eating a clean diet you'll be slim naturally

I agree with all of this. I dislike overeating. The only time I ever indulge a bit more is if I am at a restaurant and enjoying the food. I don't go out to eat very often. I eat slow and enjoy my food. I did gain weight during my pregnancies and menopause but lost it eventually. I walk but no longer do any other exercises because of the strain on my older body like my knees, lower back and hips. I don't eat any special foods. I eat the foods I like but eat less of the sweets. I weigh myself probably about once a week (for a long time I did not weigh myself but then found out I needed to start doing that again) to track weigh gain and weigh loss as well. I like my clothes to fit well and not have to worry about "muffin top." People so often comment to me that I can eat whatever I want and stay thin. That is not true at all. Was true when I was a young teen but those days are long over. I have to make an effort. I feel it is worth it because it makes me feel more youthful to be thin. I'm the weight I was in my mid to late twenties (some other times in my life, too.) I don't like the feeling of just letting myself go and not caring. I did that for a while; I figured I was older and what does it matter. Why fight it. Well, it is worth it to look the way you want and fit into the clothes you want to wear.

At the beginning when she speaks about thin people being force fed and that's why they gain weight, i began to realize that, that was the key factor of literally my entire weight gain. I was a natural thin person when i started puberty. I had a normal metabolism, so it took me about 1-2 years to over the time gain weight. At first there wasn't anything noticeable, but soon i realized i was bigger than i originally was. And all of it was because of My parents force feeding me. They always didn't think about it, it was always "eat more, eat more" or "you must finish everything on your plate"
You know the usual sayings. I felt guilty if i didn't finish my food so then i began to eat when i didn't feel hunger, i saw my siblings eat and i immediately resorted to food. Even when I'm not hungry. I've lost 40 pounds over the last 4 months and im still striving to lose 10 more :). So i hope this helps me, and helps anyone else out there !!! We got this budd

  • @Blueberryminty

my habbits that keep me skinny without thinking about it: having enough sleep, commuting by bike and on foot everywhere, not overeating, but mindful eating and enjoying my food, seldomly snack between meals (helps to keep my teeth healthy aswell; what I mean is that when I'm hungry I eat a meal and don't merely snack a little), I generally eat whole foods. I mostly eat 2 meals a day (true meals, not a skimpy 300-400 calories, but the 800-1000 I really need to get to my needed daily amount of energy... but I don't calorie count them, I generally just know or rather my body lets me know, when I've eaten not enough, I'll get hungry faster or I'll get cravings for more calorie dense foods the next meal) and seldomly eat after 4 o'clock, it depends on if I get hungry again, It's not set in stone. And at late night social events with eating, I just eat with them, and my body automatically seems to adjust for it the days after, as I notice I'm full faster then normally. Full for me indeed means, just enough, it's like the 80% rule from japan; I don't mean untill my stomach feels full, but untill my hunger and true appetite has gone. If there is still a craving I just reserve that for the next time I'm hungry so I already have something to look forward to.
There are more habbits and little things that build up, but those are the most important I think.
This all sounds very calculated, but it's actually unconscious, I wasn't conscious of them before I first started to pay attention to them and that only was when some bad habbits had crept in due to stress.
The only conscious thing I do about my eating habbits, is reguraly (once in a month or 2 months) assessing my habbits or changes that crept in. (identifying them and thinking about if they are a bad or a good change and how they've happened) Sometimes (definitely during stressfull periods) less healthy habbits can creep in. And it's easier to change them back when they haven't been there for too long. (eating something as chocolate or having a sweetened milk tea isn't bad, but when I notice these kinds of 'nutritionally quite empty foods' becomming more common or rather a habbit instead of something extra now and then, I might have to consciencely cut them back again)
I do this choice for my health, not to stay skinny. Being skinny is just something that happens besides being more healthy. And I mean general health, my body, mind, feelings,... Food and your relationship with food is a very important part for your whole wellbeing. So focus on health and not on the scale ;) . And take it one habbit at a time. (I vote for sleep being the first if that's not ok yet, it can be life changing to have a good nights rest every night)

not all skinny people are like that..food shouldn't be a chore. it's normal to enjoy food just look at Italians and the French. people who view food as a chore are more likely to be malnourished and underweight.
real naturally skinny people eat out or order pizza very rarely as a treat (think bout once every 2-3 months), they probably don't eat mcdonalds and fast food or if they do then very rarily. they don't snack too much, their meals are home made and some meals are on the low calorie side (think buckweet, yams, soups for dinner), and they don't drink much sodas and fizzy drinks. basically cut out the junk food and strive for healthy, keeping deserts moderate.

    Great video! Thanks!
I watched once a video (Why Are Thin People Not Fat?) on this topic. There was that experiment when 10 people who are naturally skinny had to eat I think 3000 callories a day. Yes, they did gain weight, but not all of them. Also they reported how they felt when they were eating more than their body actually needed. They felt sick, like they were about to through up. People who tend to be overweight don't feel this way when they fee full. "Another cake? Great!" LOL. The bottom line this is not just about habits, there is more to it. However, genetic predisposition is not something we can change, and that's when your video comes in very useful. We do what we can, i.e. we try to change our habits. Just have to keep in mind that the habits skinny people have are sort of supported by their genetic makeup. We can do it as well, yes, but not as naturally easy as skinny people, and this is not our fault.

    9. They eat small amounts of junk/sweets for example they have a bite of KitKat and that’s it.
    10. They aren’t emotional if they don’t get to cherish they’re cravings they realize they will get there cravings eaten later maybe in future they will have but they aren’t compulsive with food

I did gain weight during quarantine but I have always ate small portions and when I get fast food I will order from the kids menu because that is a realistic option. A regular fast food meal should be cut in half. I have 4 babies gained 50 with each pregnancy and went back to pre baby weight by literally just not eating as much and intermittent fasting.

Breakfast was "invented" as the most important meal of the day by people who woke up at the crack of dawn to then go and do physical labour all day, for which they needed energy. The way in which marketing companies use that is a different story. For each individual, a different meal will be the most important one.

How many people that eat alot are active? that's the question. Health is experimental. I noticed that when I ran and lift weights every day and still had cereal I was in shape but chubby in the face. I cut trans fat foods and used beef and fruits and it was significant. When I went raw vegan I went from 150 to 128. I'd say prioritize working out, and regularly eat clean. Although eating clean is good not just for weight control, but its good for gut health and immunity.

I feel you know what you’re talking about. I tend to eat slower than most people. One of my friends called me a squirrel “ bc I hate meals at scheduled times! FYI I don’t like breakfast though I’m older than 26, I’m also on plenty of medications, some cause dizziness. I also believe sure you can eat your fancy treat not everyday. I eat small meals often. Been vegetarian, yrs bc of anemia needed to get my red blood cells up…so included lean meat and salmon. As far as excercise, you need to find what works for you,me? Bit dance ballet bit, contemporary music dance ]
Skinny people another people try and focus solely on the food!
Off goes the internet or telly…Bc it’s distracting even let my phone go to voicemail.
My appetite goes down when I’m upset
You did a good video ❤

I know that this video is some years old but it still was super interesting for me. I developed an ed years ago so my relationship with food is really bad and disturbed. I'm currently learning to improve my eating behaviour and lose weight. I'm not really overweight, just not happy with my body + the ed really ruined a lot of stuff. Some of your tipps are what I try to learn right now. Like not being so greedy. It's so hard to say ' I will eat this, but I can wait until tomorrow' and I still don't get, why. I know all of these things but it is so easy to just... eat it. But I think I can learn and try more. So thanks for sharing, even if this video is more than 2 years old... :D

Hi Anna, I enjoy your contents. Right on. I'm one of those constantly fit people of Korean descent. I like interacting with people at dinner table. And I don't like the feeling of being stuffed. As you mentioned, I don't have high level of appetite/graving. It's really weird to hear some people say they so want to have this and that for dinner... I also end up skipping meals when I'm immersed in something. I do like coffee and chocolate/candies. Lastly, I go on bulk up diet time to time and if I stuff up on protein drink regiment, etc., I do gain, but no easily.

I know u said growing teenagers should not listen to this but...I’m still going to, i eat way to much. I still look really skinny because my arms are really small and i have a small face. I feel like if you have big arms and a big face, you tend to look bigger. I have a little bit of a gut though so I’ve been watching all of your weight videos and its been helping a lot. Also I’ve picked up hip hop dance (BTS dances) and it is so fun and it keeps you active because you are always jumping and moving so if you dont like to really exercise and stuff, you should try dance, its really fun. Your video is spot on! I want to add one more thing: naturally thin people do not stress eat, its usually the opposite: that our stomach gets tied up in knots and we cant eat.
I grew up in the 1970's in an overweight household as well as extended family and always wondered why I didn't get fat too. I was subconsciously doing ALL of these things without realizing it. My family have all asked me how I stay thin and my mom always says it's because I don't like donuts lol when in reality i was doing these things.

I’ve always been a slender person (fluctuating between skinny and just slender depending on my activity levels) and tbh one of the BIGGEST reasons is because I don't force myself to finish food. When I’m nearing full, I stop eating. When I do try to force myself to finish everything I just feel sick and horrible afterward. Food is not meant to make you feel sick. If it is, that is a sign you're abusing it. I still eat plenty of yummy foods, I just don't force myself to eat them all in one sitting. They offer to-go boxes for a reason!

i know you said dont watch if you struggle with eds, but i struggle with BED and i think these habits are very useful. i tend to eat mindlessly and turn to food when emotional or bored, and have a habit of crash dieting which fuels my binges. most of my skinny relatives hate to overeat and will stop whenever they feel the slightest full. reminding myself that food will always be there and i can buy it again if i "lose" it could really help curb what starts my binges

I believe in you, I also have been struggling with BED for as long as I can remember, so I know how difficult things can get, but yea developing thin habits is something I wanted for years, but couldnt really do it, because it was so hard to just not act on the binge urges, I wish everyone the best if they are struggling at the moment, but keep in mind, if it it possible to be naturally thin without starving yourself and being a bit healthy for some people, why not for you ? Its important to never give up as this is a change for life, not just in the moment, im sending lots of love to everyone and hope things will get easier and easier as time goes on (because it will get easier), and thank you Anna for bringing us this video, it really gave me motivation in my BED recovery
