- As they say in NE Ohio, "if you don't like the weather just wait - it will change". That has certainly been true of the bicycle rides this Spring. We have been on the gravel bikes in the snow, in the rain, in the sunshine and at almost every temperature imaginable. After a few beautiful days the St. Paddy's Day ride was a mix of everything! The weekend of cycling this video covers shows that exactly. Wandrer - wandrer.earth/

Tim I live in Buffalo NY and have a cabin and 50 acres of woods about 10 miles from Jake's Rocks where you go mountain biking occasionally. I shut it down every year between Thanksgiving and the second week in April for the Winter. Believe me when I tell you I know all about seasonal depression. I think about that cabin and riding my bike around that area every single day it's closed and I am stuck in the City all Winter. Thank God it's March 21st and in less than a month I'll be back at it. Here's to PLENTY of warm beautiful riding days ahead!
I believe that. I might be heading to Jake's depending on work and weather sometime in April. Hopefully we do get some nice Spring weather! Cheers!
Growing up in Michigan and living in Toledo for 7+ years. Seasonal depression is a thing. I have lived in Wyoming and now NC and the amount of sun those places get vs Ohio is a game changer. Good news is you made through for this year and spring is the best!
Yeah - almost trough. I really think I need to make some travel plans next year.
Hey Tim. Thanks for this. I’ve been feeling the same lately and I thought something was wrong with me. My wife even asked me just today “have you given up on the bike hobby?” because she noticed my lack of riding/ motivation. I don’t know what it is… just know that you’re not alone. And it’s good to know that I’m not alone either. Keep up the good work. Take care.
Thanks brother.🙂
Not particularly cold this winter where I am but the rain has been absolutely relentless. For months every time we were supposed to have a dry day it didn't materialise. Winter sucks and defo gets worse as I get a bit older. The thing that has kept me riding every day has been the Paul Components Ride to work challenge and the fact that every day I colour in another day on the calender gives me the bit of motivation to try and get my numbers up. Worst moment this winter, over the handlebars into a hidden ditch riding through freezing flood water 🥶
Cold rain is the worst thing to me. I'd rather have the snow or the cold. a good challenge is a nice way to stay motivated. I hope you were ok after the accident!
Another fantastic video.
Hope Spring gets to you sooner than later.
❤🚲❤🚲❤🚲
Thanks! Yes - here's to a nice Spring!
Living in Illinois I can totally relate! hopefully Spring will be looking up soon enough 😁
I really hope we get a good Spring. Never know though - it could rain for two months! 😳
Another great production, as per the norm!
Thanks!
The bad weather makes you appreciate the good weather that much more.
For sure - I'm glad I grew up in a 4 season region.
Yes, but the opposite is true too. The good weather makes you not appreciate the bad weather that much more.

Hey Tim maybe next chat,we could all talk about our tentative bike travel plans for summer, maybe pull people outta winter funk! 🤔🏕🏜🏞🧭🌍🌄😊😊😊
Definitely want to plan a stream around that! Its always a good map forward episode!
Related to this video a lot - even though it’s been an incredibly mild winter here in Minneapolis, that warm weather a few weeks ago has made me so reluctant to ride again in the cold, especially with real bike events coming up a month or so that I’d like to have some legs for. Great video!
Sometimes I feel lame for getting down about the weather - but we feel the way we feel, right?
The sun is on the way!
Cheers!
Columbus here. I can deal with the cooler temperatures, but the wind has made riding unpleasant.
The wind has been awful here. It was absolutely brutal on the first ride in this video. I usually don't mind the cold either but I'm just over it this year.
I agree, man. Hardly any snow this year but I am sick of this weather now. It looks like it should be nice out right now but the furnace is running and it’s still in the 30s or less here in Cincinnati.
Yeah. The snow didn't slow us at all. For some reason the cold and grey got to me anyways. Also - when I hear the furnace it just feels like summer vacation money flying out the door. This is a big place!
Southeastern Massachusetts, east of Providence, RI, I can totally relate about the weather! Each year the "I'm over it" switch gets turned on quicker and quicker but hey, I love it here, otherwise I'd be a snow bird. Maybe. Probably not.
I'm definitely glad I grew up somewhere with four seasons....I've no plans to move but I could definitely handle nice weather year around now.
The cold rain gets me worse than temps or snow. I don’t mind cold if it’s not raining.
Same(usually). I hate cold rain more than anything. For some reason this year the cold and grey has been getting to me though.
Same here. Near Ottawa, on the Quebec side, we have been hit by some almost spring weather followed by a cold spill. I understand completely your lack of motivation. Mind you, I can't wait to get off the trainer and do some real riding.
It will be nice soon enough. And I'm sure I'll still have some good riding in average weather before that. Winter just seems so long sometimes - even longer for you up there I'm sure.
Cheers!
Same here, our mileage really dropped off this past winter. For us 2023 was a wet year which has continued into 2024 and I think we are both done with it for now. Cheers Tim
The rain and cold just drag after a while. We just had a super cold weekend - hoping it was the last of it.
Tim, seasonal defective disorder is a real thing especially as we age. It's what prompted me to move to Florida.
Yeah - getting out on the bike was one thing that always helped even in the gloom - just not this year. I need to travel more next winter. My parents spent 4 weeks in FL.
Probably because as we get older we actually want to get out more and it's depressing when it's cold and ugly brown etc. Take vitamin D ..or move 😅
Hey Tim. Here in Cincy Land I refer to it as spin the wheel weather, like that game show. We had one day with a 40 degree variation. Though seems to me we have had a lot more sun than last year. Last year I thought my head was going to blow up, just constant drear. Of course we aren’t close to done yet! But seems better to me. Now if my stupid back would play nice. Gee whiz. Oh whatever. How’s Edmond?
I hear you. My back is a lot better - hopefully yours gets better soon. We had sun the last few days and I can't deny it felt nice even though I didn't ride. In fact to answer your last question - I just was working on the laptop by the window while Edmund sat next to me watching the birds.
Totally knew what this video was about by the title😂 I was averaging 70-80 miles per week due to mild temps. This weekend in MN we're going to get hit with 3-5 inches of snow.....so over it.
Ha! Its been snowing here the last few days but it isn't sticking. I'm just over it anyways.
Yep,same here weather has got me down, new phenomenon! Getting older maybe?,hope to keep that attitude on a slow simmer!!😆
For me I don't think it is an age things as getting myself outside on bikes is one of the ways I started to be able to enjoy winter again after years of really disliking winter. Who knows? Spring is coming though!
nice video!.....north usa seems like north of germany or nederland ..........

Everything that you said rains true to the NW weather as well. Being from MI and people talking weather, those “sayings” are applicable to just about every state nowadays. Commuting in it every day takes its toll on you out here but March is almost over and by your videos seems like y’all been crushing the rides and still getting it during them gray days 🤘🏻
Yeah - weather gets more and more erratic and that isn't going to change. We did a channel meet up last weekend and even though it was colder than March should be it recharged my batteries! Cheers!
Feeling your pain Tim .
Just so ready for some sun and warmth!
Yeah. The weather teased us. Seems like it’s always like that in the NE like you said.
Fools Spring(s)
Thanks Tim. Great music....yeah , road music !!
Ha! I have done a St. Paddy's Day video with Irish music every year - decided to change it up....
@@TimFitzwater sir. That was perfect
The wind this week has been a motivation killer - but yesterday, I took as prep for this weekend's Otis Torment. I mean Roubaix.
Yeah - it has been brutal. The first few clips in this video we were barely moving because of it! You are right though - it is hill climb prep whether you want it or not.
The two seasons of North Carolina. Hot then Cold. No in between.
Ha! We get the real four seasons here - sometimes all in the same few days!
Tim I live east of Toronto and the last week or so it's been like winter in March. So I haven't been out for like 7 days I just don't feel like riding in the cold.🥶
I hear you. I try not to let the weather stop me - it has been stopping me lately.
Totally understand that. For sure it's going to warm up eventually I'm looking out the window right now and it's snowing😅😅
Tim, first of all, thanks for the videos! They help motivate me to get out and ride when the weather isn't perfect. Second, it's okay to cut yourself a little slack once in a while. Warmer weather is coming, hang in there!
Thanks so much! Cheers!
Then he'll complain it's hot like me 😅
I swear to god I never do that!!! I believe you can only complain about one!!😁
@@TimFitzwater 😅
I’m under it
better than in it - maybe?
Anywhere with true 4 seasons
and I am happy I've grown up with four seasons - it really makes you appreciate the good weather.
What's the app? Wandering Earth?
Woops - meant to link it in the description.
