You are adorable. Thank you for sharing. I am just getting started. I want to learn everything I can. I have some great ideas that I have been brainstorming on. I can't wait to sell my artwork. I love to paint and mostly love to sew. For a few years I have been searching out fabric that catches my eye. I never knew I could actually make my own until now. How exciting! 😅 Again, thank you for the inspiration.
Mydigitex is a better option. I love the freedom they give me and there are no fees and you can upload your design on other site too. You have full ownership of your art.

The 8" x 8" swatches are $5 a piece, not $12 (in the USA). But when you are a prolific designer, that can really add up! The printing color saturation varies fabric to fabric because of fiber content and how well each fiber absorbs the color. Its a great way to expand your art into new areas.
Hello. I have a question ...I filled in tax document, but still can not sell. Spoonflower says to get a swatch of fabric so does that mean i have to buy all swatches in my gallery? Or just one is ok? Regards :)
Hey Oksana, thank you so much for sharing! I have a few questions I'd love for you to answer if you can. 1. I noticed that in another vid or maybe it was even this one too that you mention you have several thousand patterns made. Just wondering why you have only a fraction of them up on Spoonflower? I'd think that with more, the better the chance at more commissions and exposure, right? There's another seller on there with some 6,000 patterns and I don't know how well she does on Spoonflower but she has a very large following on Instagram. Just wondering why you've chosen to do less even though you have the patterns made. 2. I went through all of your designs on Spoonflower (which I love) and noticed that the two best selling ones you mentioned in this video are actually not the designs of yours with the MOST "heart" votes. Can you explain how that works? Is that maybe because of the quantities ordered? 3. What jobs have you gotten from clients approaching you through Spoonflower? Are these usually companies and do they become repeat customers? I noticed your patterns on the baby carriers and purses and my daughter actually has a skirt with your camping pattern on it :) 4. What have you noticed when it comes to what is and isn't popular with customers? Are you ever surprised at what does and doesn't sell? I'm coming from a marketing background so when I begin designing a pattern I think, "What lifestyle themes can I dream up that'll get people geeked about it?" I think perhaps it's more about making the pattern about the customer than about making it over the top pretty or ornate. Obviously aesthetic is also important but I'm sure simple patterns people can relate to do just as well as better than fancy ones that lack that sort of connection to the customer. Can you comment on this? 5. How do you drive traffic to your Spoonflower store and is it necessary to get people viewing your work? And/or how have people found you and your store on Spoonflower and your website? 6. Are you ever looking for help? Perhaps from someone who needs a mentor in surface design? ;) Thanks for any input, I know I asked some involved questions but I do really appreciate any input you can give. I'll be following along with you on instagram (@kalirally) and catching up with your UA-cam vids now. Thank you!
Thank you for your question, dear Kali. Here are my answers: 1. I do have close to 6000 patterns made, they are all on my microstock galleries. I earn most of my living from microstock and Spoonflower is a side-store for me. I talked about the websites I sell on in my other videos. There is a very simple tool to speed up uploading to microstocks called StockSubmitter, but Spoonflower is not supported by it. As a result, it falls behind in my uploading efforts. I still like it a lot even with smaller number of patterns :) 2. The hearts come from me taking part in a contest. Contest patterns get "hearts", but not all of them sell well. 3. I got 4 or 5 repeat customers from Spoonflower. Mostly apparel and handbag designs. Have you made the skirt for your daughter with my Spoonflower fabric? :) I'd love to see it! Can you email me a picture to mail@oksancia.com, please? 4. It is always a surprise and I design primarily for microstock customers, so I don't specifically plan for Spoonflower. I think your strategic approach to design and marketing on Spoonflower is a great idea. 5. I share my Spoonflower patterns on Instagram and Facebook from time to time, but the Spoonflower itself is a marketing vehicle for me, not the destination :) 6. I like your questions. They give me ideas :) I will keep you in mind if I decide to barter services with a marketing specialist. Hope it helps! Good luck with your creative work! :)
