@@ScruffyLookinRGB it’s a great console! I’ve been buying some Wonderswan games from Japan using Buyee! Should be turning up in a few days, working on a follow up to my history video! Can’t wait to talk more about it :D
Im glad to hear it i think the WonderSwan is a really neat design and it comes in so many colors. An ips screen really makes it stand out and beckons to be played.
Really enjoyed seeing the Wonderswan hunting. Such a neat system that we didn't get to see here in NA. Looking forward to seeing you out in backlit screen.
Thanks for the video, I used it on my trip. I came back last week and sadly the prices have shot up since you recorded this. I did score around 25 games and a system though, I absolutely love it and can't wait to head back to Japan again and try to find some more!
@ScruffyLookinRGB I was planning to but then I got the Final Fantasy 1 console boxed and I would feel bad messing with that one! Hopefully I can get another next time I'm in Japan!
I recently picked up a monochrome Neo Geo pocket and I legit don’t remember how we played these systems back in the day without a backlight or front light XD
I feel your puzzled memories man. Id say its because thats all that we had back then. I have a real hard time playing one unless im in direct sunlight.😉👍
Awesome Wonderswan Hunting Scruffy., made my day! There are a lot of complete boxed games with pretty great prices here. That Digimon Link Adapter is a steal, sells for 6X the price normally. This is an incredible handheld which has so much potential. Once you drop the IPS mod and try the English Patched games, the reply value is out of this world.
Im glad you liked it. It wasnt really on my radar until recently. Its a really amazing handheld not many folks know about. The more i look at them the more it intriguing they become. That adapter sounds like a good deal then😉
@@ScruffyLookinRGB This may just be a coincidence but I ended up finding a lot of junk Wonderswan/Color/Crystal(s) right when you dropped this video. For a couple years now I've been on a mission to get all special editions of these handhelds. Still looking for a good deal on the yellow Chocobo and one of the Special Digimon version.
I do miss the days of your live hunts, chatting with you in the middle of the night/early morning here. UA-cam did not give me the notification of this premiere till almost an hour after it ran. About Pocket Fighter, it is a Capcom product, so no Neo Geo for it. PS1 and Saturn saw ports, and the arcade game would end up on Street Fighter Alpha Anthology on the PS2. We also got a glimpse of the man himself, reflecting nicely off the glass those Wonderswan Crystals are in.
@@ScruffyLookinRGB Nope, no WS, though I'd be reaaaaalllll picky if I had one, with the Magical Drop and Puyo Puyo Tsuu (naturally)for it as the games I'd desire for it. Not too much for the thing I would actually want, much prefer Gunpei Yokoi's first invention, the Game Boy better. As for the heat, I feel you, I'm from the same home state as Jim, summer here got started early this year, it has been a sweltering humid as hell June after a sweltering humid as hell May (it'll be hot here till at least late October). All I can say is stay hydrated, that summer heat is no joke.
Another great video 🔥🔥 the ninja game with hearts on the cover is a fun puzzle type game. I never knew they made backlight kits for OG WS i may have to mod mine when i change the polarizer
15:50 Fun Fact: Wonderswan Riviera was introduce in 2002, until Wonderswan discontinued in 2003 and was later introduced GBA in 2004 and remake PSP in 2006.
Would really love to add the Wonderswan and Neo Geo pocket to collection. I have seen the ips display mods and they look great. Not sure if Wonderswan has an everdrive like cart like the Neo Geo pocket does.
Yes the ips screens these days look stunning! Shoots the replay value of these old handhelds through the roof! Id also like to pick up a neo geo pocket. To answer your question im pretty sure there is a flash cart for the WonderSwan too! Apparently @ferrtek is also working on an hdmi output mod too👀👀👀 very cool time for handhelds
The adapter wonder is for the n64. It bypasses the region lock so you can play Japanese games on a North American console or north American games on a Japanese console
Presentation is really good. I dont think the WS is the best platform to cover because few games are English friendly. Keep the presentation the same though for other videos. I notice sometimes I see something really interesting but you skip it (heart sinks lol).
Glad you enjoyed it. Ive also found many games are not english friendly but its definitely worth exploring the console itself is really cool to me so compact and lightweight. I need to pick up some more games to test out
@@ScruffyLookinRGB I might buy a cheap one when I'm there. Never seen one before except when I was last there in Japan. I'll read up on them I don't belive you did a video on breaking down backwards compatibility with color vs b/w, if it takes batteries or charger, battery life in hours, what English friendly games are available etc.

I wonder too 🤔 hmm hopefully some top tier titles! And a nice back lit screen. 👌

I remember looking for an ips solution about 8months ago and there were none but they are here now and looking great highly recommend them
@@ScruffyLookinRGB there is ips kits for the black and white screen?? I thought it was only the WS color

@@ScruffyLookinRGB And it was Developed by Sting's Entertainment.

At 7:30 I see you're just inches away from Super Cassette Vision games if you wanted to finally know what those are.
I'll have to add them in another video here soon 👀👀👀 thanks for pointing them out
Thanks for the vlog ! Gonna be there in a few days ! Can i ask you if i buy a wonder swan crystal can i play all wonder swan games on it ?
Certainly you can play all wonderswan games on a crystal 🔮 😉
does anyone know what the "Adapter wonder" at 00:15:31 is?
The adapter wonder is for the n64. It bypasses the region lock so you can play Japanese games on a North American console or north American games on a Japanese console
Are you planning to swap in an IPS screen?
That is the plan👍👍👍
