    I know this is an old video and you might not see this Niall, but I have to thank you so very very much. A few years ago I bought a beautiful Clematis from a local garden center and planted it in my front garden bed. The next year, I had a perennial flower that volunteered itself right next to my Clematis. And for the life of me, I couldn't figure out what it was. And now I know! It's a purple Aquilegia! "Grandmother's Garden" to be specific. I was absolutely wracking my brain trying to figure out what it was and now I have my answer. Thank you!!

    Just got back home from Ireland. I'm always so jealy of how foxglove and bluebell grow there all over the countryside. Oh, and rhododendrons, so gorgeous. You are so blessed to be able to see those all over.

    I've always called those kind of plants enjoyable nuisances. Like you have the forget-me-nots I've managed to have the wild violets wherever I've had a lawn. I would actually avoid mowing until they finished blooming which just added to the problem when I finally did mow, I basically scattered the seeds even more. One thing that is interested living in North Dakota now is seeing how sow many of those plants you have just shown traveled from Europe to the east coast and moved west with the settlers. Some hate them I find them comforting (even the dreaded dandelions out in the fields).

    Hello Niall, over here from Linda’s Garden. So sad she is sick but I throughly enjoyed your video of your garden. I found you naturalist style of gardening refreshing. I’m definitely going to take your advice and sow some seed this week. Thank you for your advice. I was definitely excited to see Alexander from The Middle-Sized Garden on here. I’m a subscriber of hers and now your channel.

    So funny that the one guest I see on your channel is Alexandra, the only other garden channel I’m subscribed to! Thank you for this video it’s super timely and I’ll definitely try a few of these out and see how they do

    Niall, this video and the section from Alexandria, brought back memories. When I was a young chap, here in Scotland, I loved going
    to purchase my bare root wallflowers. These days with big commercial garden centres they are now almost impossible to find. Totally agree Wallflowers
    are the one seed everyone should sow now. Your video put me in the mood to sow foxgloves again, many thanks for a great video.

    I felt I was way behind too but going strong now with seeds.. It's still not warm here in southern Scotland, so I think I've timed it just right. Thankyou for a very informative video Niall. Cosmos nearly ready to go out, lots of Sunflowers, Rudbeckia doing ok. Just waiting for it to get a bit warmer!

    Hi Niall, great video! Running out of space to plant much more! There are wild foxgloves in the garden due to our location but the self sees all over the place which I have to keep in top of but they are all the same colour. I don’t mind a few but controlling them is hard.
    I have still to plant out some tiger lilies so hoping to do so these next few days

    I'm in Ireland. Last month, I sowed some lavender seeds indoors. Don't laugh, but I get one seed per cell by using a pair of tweezers. I have them on the windowsill of my utility room, indoors. I have not had huge success with lavender before, but imagine my surprise when I had 100% of my seeds germinate and I have 100% seedlings! I believe it comes of waiting until THIS late in the season to attempt to sow them!

    • @niallgardens
      @niallgardens  2 роки тому +2

      Don’t worry, I won’t laugh at all… because I do the same with so many seeds! There’s something really therapeutic about sowing things really neatly! Congrats on getting such a good germination rate! Just think of what all those lavender plants are going to look like when they’re fully grown!!
