This episode is a bit of a throwback to SN1 when we were learning how to hook-up and encountered frequent problems between destinations. We thought we’d turn on the camera between Homer and Seward to share some of the everyday activities of RVing. Little did we know that we would lose our sewer hose while driving.
This is the first episode from Seward, AK. Next week we’ll share our experience with Seward Ocean Excursions, eating at the Cookery, Salmon fishing with KYD Insider David Downs and moving Tori into her dorm. It should be a fun episode.

Very nice "Between the Episodes". Oh, yea, I use the Rain-x in the gallon jug for the windshield washer tank, I think it's like $10. at the auto parts stores. Trish try our Salsa video "Shhh it's a secret!" its easy to make, firefighter approved. Thanks for sharing as always... OLT

Enjoyed the episode. I am interested in what episode you talked about the leveling app, when you installed the sewer tube hose next to the valves or is a standard feature on Grand Ginger, also the key pad door lock. I’ve read mixed reviews on the key pad door lock, most saying they aren’t durable and break easily. Thank you

Your "between the episodes" episode was more entertaining than many featured episodes by others. My two favorite parts .... 1) calling out the women who approaches and stands in front of the camera while you're filming the time lapse (one of my pet peeves). It happens more than it should. 2) it takes you about 5 minutes to catch Trish with the ponytail mustache .... the look on her face was priceless :-) And I loved Trish's "between the episodes" arm sign language. I miss playing "what time is it" :-)

Watching your family and all your adventures inspired my husband and I at ages 57 and 61 to get our first travel trailer and start working from the trailer and traveling more and visiting our grandchildren. Again thank you thank you thank you. We have a Lance.

You seem to like using coconut milk on your asian food, the best coconut milk you should get are the frozen coconut milk. They taste close to the fresh one’s. But coconut milk in can has too many preservatives that it makes a different flavor to it.
Use frozen coconut milk and you can taste the difference but the down side is your is the coconut milk is going to take some of the space on your freezer.

If you use those shrink hoses, the ID is so small it will take a LONG time to do anything with it. You need to have the ID of the hose as close to the OD of the connection to have minimum fill time. Those shrink hoses are not the best choice for a max GPM flow hose.

Also, the original rainex will last longer. What you are using is a 2-in-1 glass cleaner. Good for a touch up, but you need the foundation to help make it last. I’ve had good success with invisible glass, too. I actually like them more.

Why does it take forever to fill your fresh tank? My RV tech recommended making a simple attachment out of 3'8" about 3 foot long tubing on the end of a hose. You can slide in the tank and it allows air to come out as your filling so it doesn't pressurize the tank?

Orange Rain-X in the windshield washer reservoir works great. Might seem odd to put an occasional spritz of washer fluid on the windshield when it's raining, but that all it takes and the droplets will bead. And then when it's dry outside, and your windshield needs a little cleaning from dirt or bugs and you use the washer/wipers in the usual manner, it puts down a layer that also causes water to bead when the rain comes.

Loved this side of the RV traveling, we all know it's not all fun-and-happy time when literally on the road! Now, I noticed/heard when Trish locked the door to Ginger, you must have a security system, and was wondering what it is, and how it works with your rig? My TT was broken into back on 7/28, while at the Public Storage, and they stole almost everything! Ripped my new DUAL Bluetooth/DVD Audio out, took my new Insignia TV, my 4 lg. area rugs, and ALL my bedding, which included my orig. comforter, 5 new pillows w/shams, Q sheets/mattress pad, and a new 1.5" Gel MF topper! Also stole my new Progressive Inds. PT-30x Surge/Spike Protector, ($276!).. After being at the RV Dealer's for a month for repairs, getting all my receipts/excel spreadsheet for GEICO, (super important to save ALL rcpts. for any items you purchase for the RV), I have been wanting to find some sort of security alarm, as it is very stressful to have your RV broken into. Any tips would be so appreciated! (This is 'Lainie', the painting of Maddie).

The RainX orange washer fluid is a must buy if you haven't tried it already... That stuff is gold! I think it's like $4 at most big box/home improvement/auto stores. :) We loved Seward when we cruised from Alaska last fall (same ship as in your video actually - the NCL Jewel). The views from the waterfront campground convinced us to come back and RV Alaska ASAP! Can't wait to continue following you all in your journeys.

    Is it potable or potable?
Potable Pronunciation. How do you pronounce the word potable, which means drinkable? ... The word derives from Latin potare, meaning to drink, and traditionally the long o sound in the Latin has been preserved in the pronunciation of potable so it sounds something like /POE-tuh-bull/.Nov 11, 2017. SORRY had to do it. maybe this will help. hahah

  • @werl2936
    @werl2936 6 років тому

I had to look this on the net, but it is said with a long "O"
    ADJECTIVE
    formal
    Safe to drink; drinkable.
‘there is no supply of potable water available’
    Origin
Late Middle English: from French potable, from late Latin potabilis, from Latin potare ‘to drink" .

Very interesting and entertaining, as usual! I have 2 suggestions for you, and didn't really want to repeat if others already did, but I'm not up to reading nearly 600 comments first! My 1st suggestion is that Rain-X makes some excellent washer fluids that I use regularly. I use the all-season, but I think they also have a summer blend with additives for cleaning off bugs, and also a winter mix, likely with additives to keep it from freezing. I get mine at WalMart. My 2nd suggestion is about rubber/vinyl/latex gloves. Harbor Freight has QUITE the selection at EXCELLENT prices. I get the heavy weight ones for automotive use and have yet to have a tear or rip; could likely go to a lighter-weight (and cheaper one!) & be fine.

Another great episode! There's probably a dozen more of these comments, BUT...RainX makes a Windshield Solvent. It's Orange and works fantastically! We're in Michigan and I swear by it in all seasons! No need to reapply!

I like this concept...I felt like I was right with you guys....It's like a 'candid' picture vs a 'posed' picture...It's like a woman without makeup (who doesn't need any!). Do it again...if you want.

Have a great Flight home Trish (if you haven't done already)! It's sunny. Averaging around 106F. Meanwhile: We are heading to Big Bear California for our First out of state trip to meet up with the family with THEIR trailer at Lighthouse Trailer Resort & Marina for A week To Celebrate Geoff's Birthday! And Marc: I absolutely love that shot of the clouds forming in the trees and moving up the mountain! Definitely a Cool Shot!

Mike Butler. Best episode EVER ! Been watching you guys about a year or so. I love watching Mark especially when he screws up and how he laughs at himself I'M the same way. I'm 67 now about to hit the road building a house has turned into more than I wanted so I'm going to RV full time a few years. Leaving the hose cap off dragging down the road is something I would do. I've gotten so forgetful I have to check things over and over! Please show more " IN BETWEEN THE EPISODES" LOL

This was hands down one of the best episodes and so helpful for many of your subscribers, including myself. I recently came back from a camping trip from Las Vegas, to Zion, Bryce Canyon, Grands Staircase Escalante, Lake Havasu, Laguna Beach CA, Las Angeles, Dana Point, San Diego and San Juan Capistrano. If only I knew about the roads in Utah the trip would have been much better (Route 9 out of Zion to Bryce was horrifying). This type of video definitely helps your viewers get an idea of what they may be dealing with if they want to follow your travel. Many thanks for sharing!

I commend you on your "between the episodes" episode! ... I laughed so loud at your stinky slinky going rogue on you, that I scared all 4 of my dogs that were laying around my living room sleeping!! :D ... I'm still lol over the rear view mirror shot of it flying around, untamed, partying like it's 1999!! ... Then the hike, when I heard you say "Ohhh, there's a ROPE??", I knew that journey was about to be over! Too funny. The ending hike tutorial of 'how to teach your kids to make good decisions to get out of doing stupid things', by actually doing a lot of stupid things with them to teach them how to make good decisions ... simply EPIC! :D Thanks y'all, that was "fun" and very informative ... it really was entertaining!!! ♥

Bonus! An extra episode! You need to get the Rain-X in the littlle pour on bottles, and apply it thicker... Then don't use your wipers...LOL
Thanks for this view! The production quality of your latest vids is awesome. It's you guys we watch tho'. All hail the "stinky slinky".
You guys show what the American Dream is. Keep 'em coming, as you will...

This BTE is the best! Yes, indeed, camping is NOT always glamorous! Love the way you decided to show us the other side of the voyage! Sometimes, nothing works, and all you can do is stay put, wait, rest & digest :-). And then, things pick up and you can be back on your way! Love the idea & the videos again. Thank you for this moment of honesty! We had a great time watching!!! Trish, you seemed tired! Are they driving you mad? hahaha. Boys will be boys I guess! Safe travel back! We can't wait to go see this beautifull place! Remi from Montréal!

Marc, I like the nitrile gloves at harbor freight. 5mil 100 gloves for like 6-7 bucks. One of the few items I buy regularly from them.
Also, just buy windshield washer fluid that has RainX in it. I never buy the spray bottles.
Like seeing in between the episodes once in a while. ☺️

WOW! Thank you KYD for this episode - Between The Lines, with your suave announcer delivery. Wife Patty and I are months away from starting our full-time RV life, and watching your day-to-day is just as inspiring as your life-shares, fabulous outings and recommended must-dos. I'm watching and taking notes on how to capture the moments, edit and kick off a yt channel of our own. But seeing how you clean, care for and handle the not-so-pleasant parts of tRVelling is great. Looking forward to the next episode, where the stinky slink makes a comeback! LOL Thank You ~ plantaceed

Are you still in Alaska’s? I had watched a few of your videos months ago but I never realized you were on your way up here to Alaska. I live in North Pole and would have liked to have met up with you when you were visiting Fairbanks. My wife and I are about to make the RV plunge. We’re looking at a 2019 Nash 29S as our first RV/travel trailer. If you are still in AK and come back through Fairbanks on your way back to the Lower 48 I’d like to meet the family. Keep the videos coming.

I absolutely loved this episode. Not that I don't like the others, but I was starting to feel like "Man I will never get to RV like that. We can't do it because____insert excuse______." but this made me remember that there is down time and everyday stuff just like everyone else. Plus we got to see more of you guys and your personalities, and that is why I started to follow your channel in the first place. STINKY SLINKY!!!!!!!!

Your rain x doesn’t last because your not allowing it to dry in between coats. Also I highly recommend using rain x washer fluid so it reapplies the coating while cleaning the windshield off. Blue washer blue is a solvent and removes the silicon in the rain x. Lastly, rain x wipers are coated too. So it’s a whole system that works together and will last for months.

Here is a tip pilots in Alaska and car drivers use that many don't know about. Don't use Rain X for your windshields. It won't last long. Use car wax. Yes, use car wax. Wax your windshield and all the glass around your car and camper and polish the wax off. Don't use the wax that leaves a white powdery residue behind though. And you will be glad to know this trick. Love your videos.
    Have fun !!

Can’t wait to catch up on your Alaska Adventures! I use to live in Kenai! Loved it! I worked the “Kenai Airport Lounge.” Great place for a few cocktails. Watch the Planes come in. Watched a Piper Cub do an emergency landing. The landing gear failed. It made the loudest metal on concrete or asphalt sound, plus the sparks alone! Needless to say I had a full bar that night with lots of Tequila going around! It was awesome watching the C130’s doing touch and go’s. Love your videos!

Great Episode!!!! You can’t appreciate all the fun stuff without all the not so fun stuff. This shows that not everything is gonna be perfect. Thanks for thinking of sharing this. On another note, if you haven’t done so already. We have a Grand Design Imagine 2800BH and absolutely Love it. I had the same problem with pull handles for tank levers. I looked on amazon and a couple RV Shops with no luck on finding correct handles. I called Grand Design Customer Service and in about 7-10 days I had them in the mail. I replaced 2 missing handles with locktite and added locktite to handle that was still hanging on. Till the next episode
