Chris, thank you for everything you contribute. I have you to thank for helping me get started. I sold 7 full cords this past year and now I'm out of dry wood. I have 6 cut split and stacked for next year. You inspired this! Thank you!!
It blows my mind how people are so perplexed on how you know how much wood is in the truck or trailer. Every time I’ve ever loaded a stacked face cord or 1/3 of a cord in my truck it’s been almost exactly the same and I’ve only done that 10 or so times. The consistency plus your experience is a no brainer. Christmas wishes from Michigan.
To be fair, there are multiple videos- and lots of people in real life, who tell everyone that loosely stacked in the truck is the way to get ripped off. They tell new buyers to look out for that- as its a trick! A trick to rip you off!! Chuck it in, and go. Also, there is no penalty for low key calling some stranger on the internet dishonest... And actually looking at other videos to see if that question has been answered already is too much like actual effort.
Hello Chris, I really enjoy when you have your brother and or brothers in your videos I have 3 brothers myself and really enjoy them it's nice to see other brothers getting along nothing else is like brotherly love.

Understand what you are saying. You have always been very good in answering questions, Thanks. You do much better than other UA-cam creators who NEVER reply to comments. If you get a chance, would you speak about all the sawdust that you create. Its winter camping season for me now. I love to use compressed logs made of JUST sawdust in my camp stove. Menards has a brand that's great. Some lumber yards also create their own version. It burns clean and great use of a product that many times become waste. Of course, wood you harvest yourself is always satisfying. Thanks for your videos.
Hello- I’ve been a subscriber for a bit. Enjoy your videos especially hearing the crack of the wood being split. It’s reminiscent of my childhood when spending the day with my dad, who recently passed. I wish you and your family a blessed Christmas and Peace for all of us.
Most of the wood is about a year or so when delivered...some older some less. It depends on the wood species...oak, hickory, elm, beech, locust take longer to dry..aspen, pine, cherry, ash, box elder, maple all dry pretty fast.
I’m so glad you weed out the mean negative people in the comments there is no place for this in the UA-cam universe. We can all agree and disagree in a positive way. Keep up the good work and keep bringing us these great videos
I’m still here watching your videos. You have blessed me with the best firewood videos on UA-cam. Thank you! May you be blessed in the future and merry Christmas
Chris, I have just started to try my hand at bundle business. I have watched many of your videos and we thought we would pile the wood like you on pallets in a bin. We split and piled in November in my open field and found mold all in my pile today! We dont cover it and it has rained a couple inches on it in a few weeks.. I had to stack it all today to try to stop it. 2 Cords!! That was a job. I guess my area of Virginia won’t cooperate.
Hi Chris, well I started my subscription when you were getting wood from the old barn (racoon crap included), and your videos are always the one I look at first! I have really enjopyed your videos and love to see the progression in the woodyeard. No questions or comments at this time, but I just wanted wish you and yours a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year. Looking forward to more videos in 2025.
I worked in retail for a while. That is what makes or breaks you. Word of mouth will spread faster than other means. Thanks for the videos. Watch everyday.
Hey Chris, I have a channel as well much smaller then yours! and you're absolutely right with everything you said! another thing people need to understand is they have NO idea how much time consuming answering comments can be! Thank you for being you, I Love and appreciate all you do here on your channel.!!

Another great video. Tip-up fishing has been phenomenal down in Lodi. Bit of a warm up coming, but it won't be too long I'll be cutting wood and catching fish at the same time!!!
I just discovered your channel recently. Me and my friend are starting our own firewood business. We have a 52 cc chainsaw and a homeowner splitter. Would you say we should upgrade the saw first or the splitter?
That is awesome.....both! The saw first and then because you can cut wood so much faster you will need a faster splitter sooooon! I recommend a 70-80cc pro saw (Husqvarna 572 or a Stihl 462 /500 and then a splitter that is FAST 4-6 second cycle time........Good luck!
Good comment on the measurement on wood When i am not in the Woodyard i rebuild the Mazda Rotary Engines. I had a guy ask me on a certain measurement, and i honestly couldn't answer it as i have done so many over the years,I can go by feel, and it's good enough when assembled the compression is where it needs to be for the new 180k
Hello Chris, I got an Amish Made Wood Wrapper after seeing you and Tony. Had an idea to use 15" zip strips as firewood bundle handles. I picked up 100, at Harbor Freight. I slid them long ways between the wood and shrink wrap, and closed the opposite sides. I use 2 zip strips a few inches apart for the large bundles. I made a short and posted on UA-cam
Hi Chris greetings from Northern Alberta, I don’t know why some people make nasty remarks, the old saying ( if you have nothing good to say don’t say anything) been a long time subscriber and enjoy your videos. Wishing you and the gang a Merry Christmas and Blessings in the New Year.
Thanks! I appreciate that Gerry. Merry Christmas to you too! I went deer hunting up north west of Grand Prairie a while ago...great area, I would like to go up there again some day soon!!!
G’morning Chris. Me thinks that having the same opening and closing to the comment over the past 1,748 videos helps the most best way to get replies. You have replied to 99.2% of my communications. GoodNightIrene
No response needed but I just wanted you to know I think you do a great job filming, editing and responding to comments and questions. Keep up the good work and thanks for what you do.
Bay oak or live oak is some of the best smoking wood for meet I've ever used. However it's only available in the South and now I'm in the tri-state stuck with this hickory and regular oak bah humbug says the well traveled pyro ✌️
Gary, first, loving your content. As a guy about your age, I'm impressed with your level of activity. Having myself loaded and unloaded a couple of face cords in the last couple of weeks, my back aches watching you work. I've been supplementing the heating of my house with wood for years, but you provided an invaluable bit of info in regard to how much my full-sized truck can hold. Since many wood sellers around here discount a "thrown" load, vs a stacked, I am now able to make a more informed price comparison. Thanks.
I bout spit my food out when you started talking about people questioning your volume 😂. Oak is a highly sought after species in my area. I went to pick up a load of oak for the first time about three weeks ago or so. I told the guy that I’ll take two cords, because my trailer holds 238 cu ft when stacked level to the top of the boards plus one row stacked level across the back of my truck and another one that’s half of that. The seller mentioned that I can put more than that in my trailer. Later, when we were close to finishing,…he came over and started discussing it again😂. He was talking about how he’s loaded three cord of oak rounds on a trailer that size before, lol. I told him that my trailer is 82” x 30” x 14’. He pulled out his measuring tape, and didn’t say a word after that. I asked him if he wanted me to dump it,…because I didn’t mind leaving empty handed. 😊 I say all of that to say this,…buyers need to have a system in place to know how much wood you’re getting,…and sellers need to be able to prove how much wood you’re selling. For me,…I stack level to the top into 275 gal totes and get 1/4 cords. Just saying that to encourage both sides of the business.
I'm thinking since a third of a cord can be stacked on a single pallet that you could pick up pallet with forks and load and unload fast. Also might develop a waterproof top to keep weather off wood. Just a thought what do you think? Can show you a way to stack onto pallets that it will stay on it well.
No thanks, that involves stacking ...a time waster for me...I produce 200-250 full cords a year...not stacking saves me hundreds of hours every year now and I would need 700-800 IBC totes for that at $30-40....no thanks.
Cottonwood is some tough stuff...I would recommend a bigger more powerful splitter like a Wofe Ridge 28+ ton or bigger or a Eastonmade 28+ ton or bigger...good luck!
I subscribe to several You Tube channels and your channel is my newest addition. I typically choose channels where I have something in common with the channel owner. Such as yours with firewood business. My point being is I’ve read comments that people have sent in. Mostly people make polite and respectful comments. On the other hand, I’ve seen some awful comments being made. Now it’s question time. How do you know the quantity of wood that you load into your dump trailer? All I know is 1/3 cord. My IBC totes hold 1/3 of a cord. Same with my standard size pickup truck bed.
Thanks for watching...I have loaded thousands of cords and face cords into the truck and trailers and I have found that it is always the same amount as far as the level needed in them so...I just know.
Chris I have a question... Do you treat your woods like hickory that like to rot faster then other woods different as far as drying? Reason I ask is it takes long to dry and I hear it should be covered to keep it from molding. When I see your piles here it doesn't look like you treat it differently
😂 “Don’t be a turd!” 😂 that is awesome. You keep doing you, Bud. This is a fun and informative channel, even if you do things differently than me or the other guy…it’s a big wide world out there and people need to realize that “their way” isn’t the “only way.”
I really like your content. I try to like and comment, as the way I understand it, the number of interactions you have helps your channel. I figure It's the least I can do for the entertainment and education on different concepts. I hope that I do not fall into the annoying category. Good video 👍
Yup, all activity is good but watch time is number one...by far...if some one wants to help a lot they should just play my videos ALL the time even when not actually watching!
@@InTheWoodyard One of the other channels I watch had to remake his channel name so basically start over, he somehow did an 8hr video of a chainsaw running and asked people to leave the video running and hit his 4k? hour monetized benchmark overnight. His channel blew up and after 3-4years is now around 1.5million viewers. useless Cliff Clavin drivel for the algorithm. 😁.
Good day Chris. When you made your first delivery to the person with the narrow garage and you had to climb into the trailer to push the wood out (which I have seen you do on many other delivery videos) have you thought about possible making a telescoping rake type (maybe tines 3 inches apart and maybe 6-8 inches long) so you have a less chance of an accident happening and you falling and twisting ankles or other bodily harm? I don't know if it's feasible or even worth doing, just a thought to possibly keep you from getting hurt. You could even fabricate some brackets on the side of the trailer (maybe the wood sideboards?) to hold the "rake" when not in use. Anyway, have a great day.
Help me out I'm drawing a blank what is that wood you mix in with your hickory sometimes and you say it's taste and smells similar and iv heard you referrer to it as slick hickory..
I always find it funny either in your videos or doing deliveries myself is the last few pieces that get hung up, usually on the rear D rings, the people run over almost as fast as they can to grab them like your going to take off with it.
Chris I normally read a number of comments before I’ll comment my goal is to be original. When I don’t come up with anything I don’t comment. White oak imparts a nice flavor to the meat 🍖.
Chris, quick question: First, love your channel. I stocked up on wood inventory this year and will begin deliveries next year. Will be buying a dump trailer. Pulling with an F150. Curious whether you have had any transmission issues with your truck from frequent towing? The trailer I am looking at is 2100lbs, seasoned hardwood should weigh ~3000lbs. Just curious about your truck transmission which is likely rated to ~8000lb plus towing lile mine.
My truck is a bit different. 10k max plus it is a Toyota Tundra, 263k miles on it (mostly towing miles with 5k-10k loaded trailers...daily) and absolutely no issues.
Chris, I have a specific question. How many steaming dumps does it take to produce a turd? Or, rather, how many turds are produced during one steaming dump?
Great video. 👍 I always say if a person can’t say something nice in a comment don’t bother commenting. I either give a thumbs up 99% of the time or if something I find is not to my liking I just don’t bother doing a thumbs down. I would love to start doing UA-cam videos. I just don’t know if I can handle the criticism. I guess one has to take the good with the bad.
Good morning I really appreciate all that you do! Question what you do with customers who say that your wood is wet and it wasn't wet. We did get some snow and freezing rain that was on the wood. I think that this customer is looking for free stuff or something like that.
The best time to answer an objection is before it comes up...I have had that happen too in the past and I told them BEFORE they asked ...I would say..."The wood is fully seasoned dry and ready to burn now BUT it did get rained on and that will evaporate and dry off fast, the inside of the wood is dry and that is what matters most...just so you know." "it will dry off in a day or so"...Good luck!
If some stranger had the GALL to DM/ text me demanding to know why i didn't answer- i wouldn't answer that either, lol. You answered your own question...
Hi Chris, would you do a video on the stages of the moisture in wood (below 20%,20%& above 20%) how in starting up concerning temperature ranges time it's take to reach peak temperatures, different side effects each piles show how moisture affects wood burning. Using about the same # pieces & diameter too let u see maybe in a fire pits .

Morning Chris i have a ? I live in colo all the wood get is cottonwood big 4 @ 5 foot at the base what would be the best log splitter for me
Cottonwood is some tough stuff...I would recommend a bigger more powerful splitter like a Wofe Ridge 28+ ton or bigger or a Eastonmade 28+ ton or bigger...good luck!
Skidsteer mounted splitter for busting it down to manageable sizes first.
Great detail on how to ask a question. You always answered my questions 👍
Thanks!
Nope, it all dries great in the bins and I sell it all in 1-2 years so I do not have issues
Merry Christmas Chris to you and your whole family! It is a bit nippy here this morning -2 stay warm! 🎄✝️🙏☃️❄️🔥🪵
Thanks! Same to you and yours! Have a HAPPY JESUS BIRTHDAY PARTY!
@ Yes it is ✝️🙏🎄🔥🪵❄️
😂 “Don’t be a turd!” 😂 that is awesome. You keep doing you, Bud. This is a fun and informative channel, even if you do things differently than me or the other guy…it’s a big wide world out there and people need to realize that “their way” isn’t the “only way.”
Yup, I have learned a lot from all of you!
I have tried some different rakes for moving firewood and I can tell you ....no, it does not work very well.
A very Merry Christmas to you and yours John...errr, I mean, Chris! LOL!
Chris, another excellent piece of work and video 👍😮😊❤
Thanks Todd!
Well Chris Merry Christmas and a happy new year . Great Video today on comments .
Thanks. Same to you!
@@InTheWoodyard haha, Chris this is my dad!!!!
He comments on your videos, but not mine 😱😱
I need to step up my game
Chris I have a question Do you see a difference testing the moisture content during the winter vs summer?
Not really, wood drys in every season, some more than others.
Five Thirty am cannot come soon enough. Look forward to each day's pearl of wisdom. No turds here, just logs.
Ha!! Thanks my friends!
Merry Christmas to you and your family ,I really love your channel .
Thanks!
Great video!! If people would listen, they could get their answers!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
Yup, some do not want to learn...they already know as much as they want to know...
All of us creators could just paste a link to this video to spread the word! You said it. Comments are the best and the worst part UA-cam 🤠👍
Yup, well said Sam! Thanks!
Great video good to see your bring home the Benjamin for Christmas 🎅. 😊
Thanks Leonard!
merry christmas chris and all of your family from englan
Thanks for watching from across the pond Kenneth!
Thanks chris for letting us know how to ask a question. I would like to wish you a merry christmas. Question I have is.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for the information you shared I enjoy your content very much wishing you an your family Merry Christmas.
Thanks for watching!
Help me out I'm drawing a blank what is that wood you mix in with your hickory sometimes and you say it's taste and smells similar and iv heard you referrer to it as slick hickory..
There is shag bark hickory and smooth bark hickory also known as bitter nut...also beech is pretty similar too.
@InTheWoodyard that's it it's the beech I couldn't remember.
Merry Xmas to you, your family, and associates! Ray
Thanks Ray, same to you!
I always find it funny either in your videos or doing deliveries myself is the last few pieces that get hung up, usually on the rear D rings, the people run over almost as fast as they can to grab them like your going to take off with it.
Yup, that is the way it is the D-rings to catch the wood and yes people want every piece!!!!
Chris I normally read a number of comments before I’ll comment my goal is to be original. When I don’t come up with anything I don’t comment. White oak imparts a nice flavor to the meat 🍖.
Thanks Brian...all comments happen to be good even the nasty ones!
Good Morning Woodhounds!!
Howdy ✌️
Hello there Greg!
Mornin Mr. Longbeard! And you too Mrs. Bluebeard!
Merry Christmas Chris!
Thanks so much, have a Happy Jesus Birthday Party yourself!
All I want for Christmas is a video of the 16-way wedge being used in the processor. 🙂😎
Haaaa! Sorry, you will see it eventually, right now I have people who want to give me money almost every day...they come first.
Thanks Chris,appreciate ya
Thank you for watching Jesse!
Cold weather sells wood. Rescue Benjamin!
Yup!
Love your videos chris!! And nice little dump trailer 👌
Thanks!!
Chris, I have a specific question. How many steaming dumps does it take to produce a turd? Or, rather, how many turds are produced during one steaming dump?
That is a good question, it depends on the situation and individual doing the dumping!
Yup, it has been a long and interesting road....mostly good. But there are some people who make me question their minds and maturity.
I dont have nearly as many videos as you do, and i still have a hard time remembering what happened when someone asks about something in the video 😂
I can't remember what I had for breakfast today!!!
@ thx
Love your work.
Thanks, glad you enjoy it!
If some stranger had the GALL to DM/ text me demanding to know why i didn't answer- i wouldn't answer that either, lol.
You answered your own question...
Yup, some people KNOW they are more important than others and can be demanding...most are awesome though!
That is a good idea, I will put it on my to do video list...thanks!
There is so much negatively in the world now. I don't need it in the comments on my entertainment too. Thanks for weeding it out for us!
Thanks for watching and keeping it positive!
Great topics, Chris, and nice deliveries! Merry Christmas to you and your family!🎄
Thanks!
What do you miss about the old woodyard? (Both Chris and his fans)
Nothing, it is way better here.
Is your other channel out of the woodyard like when you go deer hunting?
Hunting, Trapping, processing... fun stuff!
Yup, mostly trapping and hunting stuff!
yup!
I’m of the mind of If you don’t have something good or productive to say then keep your negativity to yourself . So on that note have a Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Yup, you are a good one like most...but there are some that are always negative.
You could give free cat with every delivery❤
I would gladly do that!
Happy Festivus!
Ha!!! Good one...Have a great and happy Jesus Birthday Party my friend!
If you don’t understand me at times it’s because I’ve had 1 to many drinks. Merry Christmas btw.
Ha!!! Thanks.. when I can't understand myself is when I have had many to many drinks!
Good delivery video Chris. I hope you have a happy holiday season with your family. GNI
You betcha! Thanks Larry, same to you and yours!
I’m very nervous, I want this comment to be just perfect. -Brad
Ha!!! Thanks Brad, did you ever dye your hair pink??? Hope you all have a great Jesus Birthday Party!
Thank you very much for the video sir
Thank you fro watching!
Here is my question. The husky 545 xp or 550 xp. I am looking for a new felling saw that is around 10 or 11lbs
To me those are way to small. I would get AT LEAST a 562 but a 572 is my #1 choice.
There’s that sound again I guess you don’t have to go to the gym ha ha was 0 degrees here in SE Pa keep up the good work
The woodyard IS my gym!
