On another note, if this clip was from Wembley in 1984, Liberty's second child (daughter Torrey Joel DeVitto, who is an actress, born June 8, 1984) was on her way; supposedly, during a 1984 Wembley show (I don't know if there was more than one), Billy announced the impending birth right before performing "The Longest Time".
Billy crushed his left thumb in a motorcycle accident in 1982. He has no bone from the knuckle to the tip. I think he used the tape for extra support when he played back then. Thanks for the great reaction Harri.

Lewis is indeed native to Joel's stomping ground, born in New York City and raised in New Jersey.

So he kept it wrapped up to keep the whole thing stable, because he does pound on the keyboard!

In 1982 he had a motorcycle accident and he injured both hands, he broken his fingers and lost the bone on the left thumb, I think he had like some implant or metal wire in the thumb, because until late 1987 he used that plaster on his thumb. Also he changed his piano playing way.
