Hey there Chris great videos and content really do appreciate it. I had a question since when you talked about the pads and mentioned old school guys which would be me. I am not a butterfly goalie, more of a hybrid goalie. I am currently in some older V3 so me going to any of the new pads is going to be a big difference. The question I have for you is the Iconik a good fit for a hybrid goalie (I know they call it there Hybrid pad with the soft version). But wanted to get your take or if I should look at something else i.e. V10.
Having now demo'd both iconik and Optik 3's I seem to have had the opposite slide experience. Iconik seem to be more sticky than the Optik 3's. The iconik pads sound like bauers when they hit the ice in butterfly, I think I prefer the stock Optik strapping over the iconik. Been a crazy journey this year having played in Optik 3s, iconik, Hyperlights, eflex 6 and true px3. I really liked the first 4 mentioned and the Trues were not for me. Great review, great detail. Thanks
Great review....thanks for this! So you said these are 33 + 1....do they seem to fit fairly standard? I know some other models of Brian's had sit a little higher on your skate and people had to drop down a size because of how it bumped the pad higher. These don't look to be like that though. Appreciate the info!
You can order a 32.5 + 1 set. The padding under the boot where the skate is - does have more cushioning so my store manager recommended me going half an inch smaller and it has felt great
I've got weak and slow hands....I know balance is a thing, but did you feel a difference in weight between the eclipse and the iconik? Also geez that eclipse pocket looks ginormous
My ATK is about the same as yours (between 17.5-18). Trying out some Iconiks in 34+1 Friday morning. Here's hoping this sizing works for me so I know what to order as a custom set. I'm currently rolling in v10 Pro carbons 34+2, but I did not account for the flat boot when I placed my custom order. @@chrisxdudo
Hey man...interesting that you would go for a straight 33" instead of +1. How tall are you ? Im 6ft but my ankle to knee is only 17 " ...so think I'll fit into a 32.
I’ve never used the Gnetik 5 (tbh the look never interested me) but the break on the Iconik below the knee is very steep, the angle is aggressive. You can see that, and I speak on it, around the 2:30 mark.
I won’t answer a comparison question. However if you watch the review, you could probably deduce which one I like. I already had an interview with Bardown Breakdown that discusses the role. I suggest listening to it 😎
ok ok fair enough @@chrisxdudo I`ll look for the interview. I´m changing gear this year (at least that's the goal) but I don't have the possibility of going to a pro store and I can't really make up my mind on which one to choose 😅
Question: Know of a place that could rebuild the outer heel in True goalie skate? My narrow butterfly has one skate getting banged and broken up. Thanks
Perfect timing on this, my Iconik set comes next month.
man ive been itching to buy my first brians set! this might be it!
Don’t there gloves are HORRIBLE
I had a demo set and notice the inside pad on the slide plate was catching on top edge of my skate.

low key got 34+1 for my custom iconik pads

All of my thoughts about fit start at 20:56. I address the fit, the knee and the thigh.

I know how to custom order pads, but thanks for the comment.
Question - how long did you say you do your skate lace toe tie? 3inch…?

I didn’t notice much of a difference at all.
Awesome video. What's your ATK and FTK measurements for reference?
Guess.
FTK 19.5 ATK 16.75?@@chrisxdudo
Never measured my FTK, kinda don’t trust it. ATK is 17.75”.

I have money down they’ll be too big.
Nice set 👌 The glove interests me a ton, looks like a 5500
Doesn’t play like it at all. Iconik is way better than that.

The size of the pads are listed in the video description.
is the angle of the break at the knee the same as the gentik 5 or is it a steeper angle?

What do you think about IKONIK vs hyperlite 2 pads? What would your prefer overall
I’m not going to compare brands.
would you choose B⭐ or warrior?
how did you become the EBUG?

What would you do both goalies get hurt and you had jump in the game and play
I would jump in the game and play goalie.

What a question to get on a Brian’s full set review. Cover the wear yourself or just get new skates.
@@chrisxdudo a simple no would’ve worked. I asked because of your contacts. This is why I asked weeks after the review.
How tall are you ?btw
Take a guess.
i'd say 5"10
@@chrisxdudo
Since i mentioned how the pads dont slide well after a while in your gloves review, im guessing you mentioned/covered it in this video? 🤣🤣
The continued bungee slander.
The continued bungee truth.
stock bungees are garbage but I enjoy my prolaces
🗑️
Stock bungees suck, prolaces are better than stock, laces better than both 💯
🤔
It’s really hard to cover the puck with it does not have a great seal, and puck handling is actully terrible
Must be user error, cause I never had either of those issues.
