Good review. I think a lot of people appreciate the honesty regarding all the issues you can expect, there's a lot of money regular people put into these sets.
“They’ve been spread so thin over over that last few years” …So I’m gonna call the founders of the company and harass them until pat or someone in his bloodline takes time to personally stitch my gear together. This guy is so entitled…. You give him an inch and he takes a mile every time.
09:27 "Do not open with sharp object" .. Trav, opens with a sharp object. Don't stop being you man. I completely agree with you.. when dumping 5K into anything it needs to be correct as much as possible, mistakes happen but there seems to be fundamental issues they need to square away.
"You expect to get special treatment because you make UA-cam videos" Hmm. I think it's a good thing you make these videos and you have a decent size audience. If you didn't I'm not sure I believe the issues with your gear would have been fixed. I'm glad they got your glove back to you and it was the way you wanted it but this seems like a lot of mistakes. What's the point of custom when they won't make things the way you requested? I've had issues with a few companies over the years so I gave up on custom. I just buy pro return gear and I've never been disappointed. I also don't play pro hockey so I guess I can get away with that.
Just be happy you got a brand new L87 from the man; quit asking for more. Patrick Lefèvre himself doesn’t owe you anything…you’re already EXTREMELY lucky to have the service you’ve had; most paying customers don’t and very few are expecting so much. Even fewer have brand new gloves after having paid for the gear…
Patrick Lefevre called ME. Hadn't spoken to him in 2 years. Cold calls me to say "i will take care of you and get whatever you need fixed, judt let me know". I let him know and he fixed 25% of the issues, and has gone radio silent since. Most dissapointed he appears to not be a man of his word cause its what I pride myself on. If you see it differently, you're likely just fishing for anything to complain about
If you went to “Dirty Ron’s” would you say something if your fast food order was messed up? I think as a paying customer Travis has every right to say something and not play the drive through game of “McDonalds Roulette” where customers take what they are given and leave versus checking their food before they take off. I’ve ordered custom gear before, opened the box and found they put some other persons name on the gear I custom ordered, should I just accept that and move on? Whether you’re a pro or playing beer league when you custom order your gear it should be exactly what you ordered to your spec. I also understand not being a jerk or posting something negative but Travis doesn’t sugar coat anything and is like the majority of us living check to check but instead of working the stripper pole he’s selling Ridge Wallets and Trav4Oilers spec pro laces!
Gear may not have worked out but what does work is a new Slangin The Bizkit podcast. Episode will be live an hour after each vlog goes up. Give it a listen folks
This is very close to a master class on how to do a "negative" or critical review. It's not bitching for the sake of bitching. Facts help back up claims of the gear not measuring up to expectations. The lack of consistent customer service is a major red flag. $5000 is not an insignificant amount of cash to put out, so the company has a duty to do as much as is reasonable to make things right. Is the decline in customer service due to the acquisition by True? Unclear, but, at a bare minimum, if a request on a custom order can't be fulfilled, a company with great customer service would have reached out to mention the issue rather than simply ignore it. There definitely seems to be an issue of scalability since the acquisition of Lefevre by True and the Chinese-made gear is not unexpected to deal with the increased demand, but the move to overseas manufacturing will affect the public's perception of the brand whether they know the history of the Lefevre name or not. This review is, in the word of Dany Rojas from Ted Lasso, "tough but fair".
Appreciate it pauly. with TRUE pressuring me for good reviews, I wanted to provide a lot of fact and evidence to what I'm saying. Sadly what I predicted 1.5 years ago has come true.
It’s the same situation I went through with Bauer when I ordered a custom Hyperlite chest and arm. It looked good but when I put it on I couldn’t get it to sit right. Talked to my salesperson and he said there wasn’t anything he could do really about it. Told me to check the goalie forums and blew me off. I had to reverse engineer it myself to make it work but by that point I was over it. The arms basically pulled the chest down so much it left my shoulders and collar bone vulnerable. I shelled out nearly 700 usd for a custom pile of crap! Ended up going back to a retail Hyperlite. Hope the powers that be reach out to you to fix the issues.
As I said on the Bauer Mach video, Bauer custom may be the way to go. The things you don’t like can be fixed via custom. And also maybe getting use to less pad over rotation as it seems while you like it it has abused you issues in saves you make. Getting to take my Mach’s out for a spin soon.
The same happened with my gloves and I waited 7 months for mine. I watched your video when you you said get true then week or two later you said dont lol but I still love my gear but my glove is not what I ordered
I still love my pads but the glove i wanted skate laces. Plus my glove is a little tougher to close but over time its getting better that or my strength is lol.
I don’t “rake” any brand. Every company pays off every “influencer” and nobody puts Mileage on gear like I do. There isn’t a single person in the goalie community that is honest and helping people with gear decisions. I’d like to think I’m helping people that need guidance with these things
Honestly, like u said before, the wait time is just ridiculous. They might be a “better” product but they’re stretched too thin at this point to actually get leferve gear. Bauer will probably be the first custom set just cause of how much better they’ve been getting. Plus, dont have to wait 3/4 of a year to get it. If interested in specs, hyperlite legs w/ mach glove and blocker w/ ottenger style pocket
It's nice that you put the company, True, on blast instead of Lefevre and his staff, because I'm sure they're doing the best they can, like you mentioned in the video. It just sucks that hockey is such an expensive sport, and then you spend that money and you don't get the treatment you deserve.
True also has a production problem with their skate steel. I work at a hockey shop and all the blades we get from True are warped. They just recently recalled them but it was like this for a long time.
Hi Trav. Thanks for the update on the lefevre. A company that fails to innovate it’s a company that will ultimately fail and fall behind. Plus, if the craftsmanship isn’t there anymore there’s no reason to order 8k worth of Chinese built equipment. You gotta feel confident in your gear or it’s gonna always cost you 5-10% of your concentration. When you’re compensating for your gear it’s a recipe for disaster. Go with the warrior. You’re paying retail anyways. Perform and then warrior will be calling you instead of Vica versa. Peace Trav.
I agree with Trav 100 percent. Hold these big company accountable for charging ridiculous prices and selling sub par equipment. I'm glad these companies are getting called out on youtube and say what you will about Trav but at least he's got the balls to say it. 370 plus tax for a stick and my 15 year old 150 lbs breaks it in 2 weeks. there isn't a single person in the goalie community that real people can trust to tell them the truth. I'd like to think I am the only person that actually thinks about the average person when I make videos an trying to help
Again I don't know why Trav keeps trying to stick with gear that fails time and time again. Love ya Trav but there are 3 companies that elite goalies use that you keep turning your back on. Vaughn, Bauer and Brian. What were the goalies in the SCF wearing this year? Nuff said.
For my upcoming season in college I bought a full set of Vaughn SLR2 pro carbon leg pads and blocker with a V9 glove last season. I was expecting them to take a week or two to get to my house I ordered them from Prue Hockey and stock cause I’ve never owned a brand new set of gear. I kid you not they came in two to three days. The gear has lasted for over a year now and is holding up, best pads I’ve ever owned. The only thing I want to but but don’t need, is I want to upgrade to the SLR3 leg pads and customize them with a even stiffer core I love hard rebounds and yes my SLR2 still give off hard rebounds but they are a year old so the even stiffer ones would last longer. That’s just my take on what I’ve experienced. Love the videos Trav you are a big inspiration to me I’m also almost 26 trying to play hockey as long as I can.

@@trav4oilers I knew this for years it s capitalism , I know in store they push ccm Bauer for volume but at the end the average beer ligue guy like good quality product, sorry for Patrick but he will probably make the same pattern like he did whit ccm,
@@trav4oilers What's the difference between Hyperlite and Mach? Both the Supreme and Vapour lines seem to be stiff pads with hard rebounds and above-average sliding. I'm looking at used Ultrasonic and 3X/3X pro pads, because I don't yet have the cash to buy Mach or Hyperlite.
@@ilyazhitomirskiy9218 Both Bauer pads slide well and have hard rebounds like you said. Both Mach and Hyperlites have solid knee cradles bound to the core of the pad to create a rigid pad that lands flush and stays upright. The hyperlite knee has a litttle bit more give to it where the Mach is like solid and almost no give. Both have no external breaks on the outer roll. Check out Travs Mach review and unboxing video.
Trav i have two sets of pads one set is the reebok L7 SR and the other is the CCM Premier R1.9 i love them both but i had to upgrade to the CCM since my Reeboks were getting to small for but i still use them once in a while when i play out at the odrs cause i love the feel of them but i would like to know what you thought of the CCM Premier Pads that CCM made.
I still have my reebook premier pads and i love them . It a 34+2 and i just love the feel of it. I have old itech blocker and glove model X-WING and i really like them. But i wanna get my self a new gear and i was looking at the warrior G6. If i gotta change gear i would go with warrior G6
Dude - kinda went full Karen on this one. Not surprised they stopped returning your phone calls. No way - 1 guy can take up this much of their time, changes, and custom requests. They probably just wrote this one off and have moved on.
After paying 5k for a set, they better send a perfect product imo. You can't tell people to wait for months before getting their sets and mess half the asked specs, come on
Did you ever use the Lefevre-made gloves when they were still with CCM, and if so, did you have issues then? After using Vaughn Velocity and Epic trappers for years, I ended up switching to CCM Premier IIs pads a couple years ago and have tried/discarded the 590 break glove that came with the set, followed by an EF4 600 (both pro palm). I just don't get why they're so much heavier, beefier (despite not much add'l padding), and impossible to close. I still haven't tried a 600 break glove. Sounds like the Warrior G6.1 is the direction I should go next.
@@trav4oilers Just looked it up. You are right. The factory is in Vietnam.....Wow. I had no Idea. I just got my full set of L12.2 gear. It's made in Canada.

Trav, why do you make a run back to Brian’s. I have had 3 customs sets so far from them and have had nothing but the best quality gear and customer service on top of that.
I still say user error if you have any issues with a product. So many people out there that love true esp for the leferve name that backs them. They are a comfy and simple designed gear that doesnt need to change to prove anything. Plain n simple if its not for you that's fine. If you wer a pro you prob coulda gotn 20.1 skinned as 20.2s.
Sad that a company like Lefevre getting pulled down because by being bought out and their products being outsourced and at a lower standard to meet demands. Wish they could be branded as such to show they are made from Lefevre themselves rather than Outsourced (like a vehicles Vin number). I own Hondas and I love Hondas but I will not buy one made anywhere than Japan. It's the quality and integrity that both those Brands, as example, uphold. So sad.
They say inflation has caused the price of gear to go up understandable, but wages aren't going up for the average athlete .The TRUE gear I saw in stores looks cheap . My old CCM EFLEX 4.9 is way better quality .
I like Brian's and Warrior (Warrior gear is some of the best I have ever tried) and will go with them regardless, but I think True is a brilliant company. I think your problems are warranted, but as you mentioned the company has gotten too big for its own good.
Travis why would you think Lefevre would be making your gear? You’re smarter than that. No company once they get bigger and high demand is going to craft everything from the owner. I love warrior gear and when I got my custom g5 set I never had the expectations Pete Smith gonna make them for me. That’s just such as dumb thought process.
Been to the factory, pat lefevre making my gear was part of the deal. You also play in a beer league, I'm a pro. Calling it for what it is brother. No disrespect but LEFVRE dropped the ball
Couple things. -I have a set of 20.2 on the way. I’m in the US. Ordered from a Canadian hockey shop. Paid $2800 USD…which rounds out to $3700~ CAD. If you actually paid $5000 CAD…you got ripped off, unless you’re counting the extra gloves you ordered. -the gloves are not heavier. There are threads on TGN…in depth about the 20.2. They actually shaved a few ounces off I’m looking forward to using my set. The only issues I had with the 20.1s was the leg pad over rotation that you discussed so with the changes to the 20.2 these pads should hopefully function better.
Update: first skate in the 20.2s. Phenomenal set. Glove and Blocker were same quality and feel I experienced with my 20.1s. I did go Pro Palm on the Glove, which was the only change. Leg Pads: Awesome. The changes to the boot break and the knee block made the pads play better and more stable on the ice. I opted for the leather strap out of the knee block, which eliminated any instability dropping in the butterfly and sliding that happened in the 20.1s. The improved boot break makes the pad more flexible and connected to your leg and skate. My only minor gripe is that that don’t slide as fast as Bauer…but that can be tweaked. Happy with my purchase overall. Great set of pads.

Don’t agree with you a lot but you should definitely get what you pay for. 5K is steep. Even if a Lefevre isn’t building it himself, you’d expect better quality control from them.

I feel like you have mixed feelings with all pads
Not wrong
Trav i have two sets of pads one set is the reebok L7 SR and the other is the CCM Premier R1.9 i love them both but i had to upgrade to the CCM since my Reeboks were getting to small for but i still use them once in a while when i play out at the odrs cause i love the feel of them but i would like to know what you thought of the CCM Premier Pads that CCM made.
Old gear that ain’t for me
@@trav4oilers Fair enough
Balanced review. Thanks for providing the community with this info!
always honest my friend
I still have my reebook premier pads and i love them .
It a 34+2 and i just love the feel of it. I have old itech blocker and glove model X-WING and i really like them.
But i wanna get my self a new gear and i was looking at the warrior G6. If i gotta change gear i would go with warrior G6
G6 is solid
Wait, this seams fairmilliar
history repeats itself.
Experience comes with the $, when you receive a product that’s sub par….it upsets the mojo
Its a bad taste in the mouth. You get it my man. All the best
Trav where do you find you right handed goalie sticks, gloves
Custom!
Dude - kinda went full Karen on this one. Not surprised they stopped returning your phone calls. No way - 1 guy can take up this much of their time, changes, and custom requests. They probably just wrote this one off and have moved on.
After paying 5k for a set, they better send a perfect product imo.
You can't tell people to wait for months before getting their sets and mess half the asked specs, come on
Just sharing MY experience my friend. Is what it is
@@arthurfriederich3825 He keeps saying $5 grand, but how. That isn't even close to retail pricing on these.
@@Scissors3259 it is around that, the price they charge for custom is ridiculous
@@arthurfriederich3825 Full Custom Set is around $3700 CAD. Not sure on US or European Pricing.
I want to get custom pads for my son, do you need industry connections or what? How much more expensive are they?
Go somewhere else for gear lol basically
Nice video. Probably lucky that you got one catch glove replaced quickly. They are busy working on custom orders at this time of year.
Amazing how little customer service they have
@@trav4oilers Things probably changed after TRUE Sports took over. They focus on NHLers. Can't do much about that.
3:30 had to sneak the dogs in huh
These dogs are ALWAYS going hard!
Have the lefevre blocked and love it but have not got the new "true gear"
You’re in good hands now
Hey trav u ever gonna try the eflex 5s?
Maybe eflex6
I hope something works out for you man you are a good dude and deserve the quality for the price tag
I think anybody does my friend. Thanks for watching
I really hope they make an intermidiate size pad. Trav if you ever meet with the owner or go to the hq again please mention intermidiate pads.
Not gonna happen.
@@giii7599 why not?
@@xtremevlogz1301 True can't keep up with orders now.
They dont liek me
They do make custom 31-32” pads, but 31” is custom only and they cost at least $2,000 USD.
Only the Chinese made ones from ccm Reebok
So will u be using the True this season or Bauer? When we gonna hear where you will play next season? Getting close to pucks season.
I've already announced it on the podacst slangin the bizkit, I'll announce on the vlog in 2-3 weeks ;)
i orderd 2 sets of gloves and 1 set of padds i'm wating since 11 and a half months
Sucks to suck I guess? lol sorry dude
Did you say that there is some Lefevre equipment being made in Asia???
Yup and LOT of it
@@trav4oilers Just looked it up. You are right. The factory is in Vietnam.....Wow. I had no Idea. I just got my full set of L12.2 gear. It's made in Canada.
@@trav4oilers The Vietnam made gear says DESIGNED BY LEFEVRE on the pads, glove and blocker. The made in Canada stuff says CRAFTED by LEFEVRE FOR.
Custom Domestic vs custom Canadian Made are different. I noticed for sure.
Hey great video trav best goalie on UA-cam I love the gear reviews I have been rewatching the junior mic’d up videos they still are hilarious 🤣 great video again have a great day!
I'm still trying to forget those days
@@trav4oilers 😂
Just curious, why are you stuck with the True's? Why not use your Mach setup? This has to be a setup for a future video...
Because i can make more money back from selling bauer set and i need a 580 glove
@@trav4oilers yeah, I saw the Mach review. It was a set up for a future video. My son tried the 3X and didn't like them. Won't try the M5Pro. He wants to wait for the new V10s, as he loves his V9s.
True is ruining lefevre…we all saw this coming
I predicted it 1.5 years ago 😂
how is the durability on your mach stick so far
Havn't broke it so far
Is Vaughn still out of the question?
Unless it’s free, yes
Trav, why do you make a run back to Brian’s. I have had 3 customs sets so far from them and have had nothing but the best quality gear and customer service on top of that.
2 sets with so many issues, would never waste my money with em
Awesome review trav i can’t wait to get my 580 lefevre once my Vaughn wears out
Or go elsewhere lol
@@trav4oilers lol I’m also thinking of the Mach I love the feel
I still say user error if you have any issues with a product. So many people out there that love true esp for the leferve name that backs them. They are a comfy and simple designed gear that doesnt need to change to prove anything. Plain n simple if its not for you that's fine. If you wer a pro you prob coulda gotn 20.1 skinned as 20.2s.
Hey Kasimir, quit hiding behind your burner account
Ya money over customer service and a happy customer. I went Bauer over true.
Custom Mach skinned, hyperlite guts.
Customer service is a game breaker
Sad that a company like Lefevre getting pulled down because by being bought out and their products being outsourced and at a lower standard to meet demands. Wish they could be branded as such to show they are made from Lefevre themselves rather than Outsourced (like a vehicles Vin number). I own Hondas and I love Hondas but I will not buy one made anywhere than Japan. It's the quality and integrity that both those Brands, as example, uphold. So sad.
Same like the honda's, thats how you want it. if not dont order and thats sadly whats happening with TRUE
They say inflation has caused the price of gear to go up understandable, but wages aren't going up for the average athlete .The TRUE gear I saw in stores looks cheap . My old CCM EFLEX 4.9 is way better quality .
Cash is tight man. They should be fixing
I like Brian's and Warrior (Warrior gear is some of the best I have ever tried) and will go with them regardless, but I think True is a brilliant company. I think your problems are warranted, but as you mentioned the company has gotten too big for its own good.
They don't care
Time to wear couch cushions my man
Pretty sure you don’t get charged 3 grand
for them either
or make my own
Should have bought Catalyst PX3. None of those custom issues exist as far as every new user with this newer line is concerned.
Def should have but owe well
I'm not a goalie but I love watching ur videos :)
love you regalrdess bro
Why don’t you order warrior? Yes you’ll get them later but you’ll have a set you actually like, then sell this gear on sideline Swap
I'm not a fan of true, but getting from that to a warrior set would be a big downgrade oof

I have a glove and blocker one for b league and one f or c league lol
You probbaly dont need 2 sets if thats the level youre playing phil, but hey you do you
@@trav4oilers I know I'm being funny lol
Travis why would you think Lefevre would be making your gear? You’re smarter than that. No company once they get bigger and high demand is going to craft everything from the owner. I love warrior gear and when I got my custom g5 set I never had the expectations Pete Smith gonna make them for me. That’s just such as dumb thought process.
Been to the factory, pat lefevre making my gear was part of the deal. You also play in a beer league, I'm a pro. Calling it for what it is brother. No disrespect but LEFVRE dropped the ball
😂😂
Couple things.
-I have a set of 20.2 on the way. I’m in the US. Ordered from a Canadian hockey shop. Paid $2800 USD…which rounds out to $3700~ CAD. If you actually paid $5000 CAD…you got ripped off, unless you’re counting the extra gloves you ordered.
-the gloves are not heavier. There are threads on TGN…in depth about the 20.2. They actually shaved a few ounces off
I’m looking forward to using my set. The only issues I had with the 20.1s was the leg pad over rotation that you discussed so with the changes to the 20.2 these pads should hopefully function better.
I ordered 2 sets of gloves though my friend
@@trav4oilers I see. I went Pro Palm 580 on my glove. I play beer league (and not very well…lol) so that will be enough protection.

@@trav4oilers i hear you guy but i try to do my best for people when providing a service or playing the pipes-i guess i'm old school everything...
You should get a set of Brian’s

A few years ago 6000-7000$ would get you a full kit head to toe , now probably 10k would get you the same thing
Oh easily over 10k!
Perhaps now you learned your lesson big boy 🤷🏻♂️
But yeah, it's a shame.
Not gonna lie, I was hoping you would go with warrior, I really like their stuff, and we know you do too.
I should have. If they don’t fix I’ll never buy another
I switched over to warrior, best decision ever!
Shoukd have gone g6
@@trav4oilers I’ll take a lefevre glove any day over the warrior though. Warrior palms are quite shallow so the puck pops out more. Then again, everything should be in the pocket, wouldn’t be issue if I wasn’t so dust.
You’re my favorite UA-camr
Thank you so muhc brother :)
I’m still gonna order true…I’ve worn two full sets already and the quality is amazing
Buyer beware
Don’t agree with you a lot but you should definitely get what you pay for.
5K is steep. Even if a Lefevre isn’t building it himself, you’d expect better quality control from them.
You don't have to agree with me brother ;) long as we. both love goaltending thats enough for me. I think youre right, lefevre should do better
Sadly I believe this is the whole True factor taking over homemade quality... The name Lefevre still exists but it's clearly not the same as it used to be. Disappointing set of gear for what you paid. Hope they'll fix it sooner or later bud !
True ruined VH and will ruin lefevre as well
Bauer set was the best aesthetically on you but can’t lie bro fuck aesthetics if the gear doesn’t feel right….
I know what you mean buddy expecting a level of gear worthy of your investment isn’t unfair?!!!
Was a reebok/ccm guy when I played haha good old premier 2 days haha 😂
The premier days were good
That outer knee flap saves on guys trying to sneak a shot in from the goalline when you have your pad on the post. Without it the hole is enticing to shooters.
That s a good point, so it is functional
@@trav4oilers I strap my pad across the knee, not down to the calf. It is functional for me too, but in a different way. I tried going down to the calf, but my pad would end up too floppy.
And here's the problem with the new pads - VELCRO, VELCRO, VELCRO. You can repair straps, velcro is terrible..
I think it helps a lot but the build quality is going down
I dont think people realise you paid to customize your setup and you didn't get what you want or was promised
thats the key man
Great video
Thanks buddy 😊

Nope, youre looking at the only one that isnt paid or biased
theres another no influencer that i watch, beer league bum hockey reviews
Interesting to hear all the things that need to be fixed
Hockey company’s need to go straight to there players and ask them what they need and they take an average on what people say and build the product around it
Great video otherwise trav as always love seeing it.
