Wow, i was just thinking of this song! So many good memories back from the day. Im glad you talk about the song after the song. Sounds great, luv your insight, made my day.
I so agree with this... I have loved this bass since the first moment I heard it and saw it... and it's still the best looking and sounding bass Troy has, IMO.
Me too! We got to see her twice in the last year or two. She's very personable and is just as entertaining when she speaks as when she plays. Colin Haye is the same.
Beautiful song and cover… I always listen to this and every now and enjoy at the beauty of the flow of the song and notes. I’m not musical, but always hear the bass first in any song, and then connect with the words. I find that about certain songs in totally genres and never know why. One of dozens I love, from totally different genres for different reasons, many of which you’ve covered - but this one just flows effortlessly. Thanks… :)
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to leave such a great comment. With regard to the importance of the bass in this song, Suzanne has played it live over the years with just her and her bass player.
Good way to say you weren't in college in the late 80's. This really was a hit on college radio and stayed on the playlist until she got more mainstream in the early 90s.
This one escaped my notifications! GREAT cover. I've actually never seen Pretty in Pink, but I love Suzanne Vega and had the soundtrack (LP lol) since '86. Troy, do you know if a fretless was used on the studio version of Left of Center, or maybe just a chorus pedal? It's a simple but perfect bassline for this song.
Haha... Thanks a lot! Funny you should mention that song. A good friend is putting together an Eagles tribute band and asked if I might help out in the audition process (I don't really have any interest in playing in a band), so I'm learning a bunch of their songs and that is one of them. Unfortunately, The Eagles are the absolute worst when it comes to blocking videos and handing out copyright strikes. I might try to find some sort of workaround where it's bass-only, or possible playing to a Karaoke track, or something else.
@@TJH3113 got it. I thought doing a cover falls under fair use doctrine. But I'm not sure. Thanks for all the great covers. I'm going to get my bass out and play more.
B minor? Just checking my effort at ear training here. I haven't looked it up or tried to follow on along on my bass. Sounds like it might be Minor and the Majors, the minor scale twin of the "Axial progression" in a few places.

Glad you enjoyed it! She still plays it live.
Thanks Troy, a wonderful cover for sure.
It was my pleasure. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment.
I know I have said it before but man does that bass has a growl. Never feed that bass a throat lozenge.🎸👍

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. I really like it myself.
A friend just sent me a link to the bass and voice performance from Montreaux, absolutely wonderful! Great job as always, Troy!
Wasn't that cool? Thank a lot Mathew!
I remember this song (and Suzanne Vega) being popular among my friends back in college in the 80's. Well done Troy, thanks.
Very cool! Thank you Wim!
I'm a fan of Suzanne Vega - thank you for the bass cover. It's a groovy one! 😎

Good song! She has a great voice. Excellent playing Troy 🤘!!
I think so too. Yes, she definitely does. Thanks so much!
Great job Troy spot on. Thanks for sharing. Cheers.

I never listened to this song before! Lovely melodic lines. Nicely played.
Thanks for watching and giving it a chance!
Like this a lot! I totally forgot about this one.
Glad I could remind you.

Hello!!!! I'm from.Brazil and i Love your vídeos!!!
Hello, nice to meet you! Thanks so much, I'm very happy to hear that!
Hypnotising and captivating bass line
I'm glad you liked it. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment.
You seem to be loving your custom bass. Are you thinking of becoming a one-bass man??
Yes, I do love these basses Joe built. I was up to 32 basses and am down to 17, or so. I would love to get down to around 6-8.
Cool to have both versions for comparison of the two bass sounds, thx! Great playing as usual!
Thank you very much!
Great song 🎶 love the tone of your bass.
It is, isn't it? Thanks.
👍👍👍
Thanks Art!
Awesome job on a great tune!
Thanks so much!
Another song I'm not familiar with. Thanks for enlightening us Troy!

Thanks for watching and giving it a listen.
VERY NICE
THANK YOU
Do you use a Compressor?
If so, what setting?
I use some preset compression in GarageBand. It's called "Smooth Bass". It's pretty subtle.
@@TJH3113 Thanks!

Glad you enjoyed it! I didn't hear anything that would lead me to believe he was playing a fretless.
😎👍
Thanks Joe!
Hey Mr. AMAZING! I'd sure love to see a cover of I can't tell you why, by the Eagles. Beautiful song.

It's in B, that's all I can tell you... haha.
My Cousin worked with her
Very cool!
