Great video as usual!!! Definitely helpful and informative. I love both the lambskin and caviar and I believe both have their place in a collection. I do agree with your final conclusion that for larger or heavy use bags caviar is a great choice and lambskin for smaller and more special occasion bags. Great tip!! 👌🏻👌🏻
WOW 🤩 my mind is blown! 🤯 What an excellent video! I learned a lot! I’m curious also about how coloured bags are tanned. For example, I feel as though leathers with more vivid colours (like my green trendy) isn’t tanned, rather it seems as though the dye or perhaps paint sits on top of the leather. Could you find out how they create those leathers? Especially white!
Thank you so much! I've really been wanting to do more of these informational type of videos. I can definitely make one about the dying processes used! I'm so happy you enjoyed 😊
A big big big thank you for this informative video! I like to educate myself and I regularly make some research because a lot of UA-camrs out there like to spread theories/ conspiracies which will be repeated by other UA-camrs and then taken for granted by viewers without control/own research... I always wanted to have some accurate info about the different sorts of leather used by Hermès (not just the names...). I mean the specificities of each one and their production (as you did in this new video with Chanel). I also would have an objective opinion about their quality in comparison to the leather sorts we can find at LV, YSL, ... Are Hermès leather sorts really so special and luxurious? Is their quality superior? Or does the name '"Hermès" influence the perception of the customer? Do the reputation and the prices of Hermès make us think that the Hermès quality is higher? It's one of the most interesting topics in my opinion. Have a great Sunday! 🌞
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoyed. The information about where leather is sourced from is from Chanel directly! I've contacted a bunch of brands in my quest to learn more about them 😅
Thank you so much I met you on Dacobs live A while ago and I just got my first caviar piece from Chanel it’s the small boy messenger so I don’t know if that’s a seasonal piece ? But overall it is made very well the leather is fabulous it smells great it looks great all the stitching is correct everything is perfect I’m so happy with it!
I love this video! Before you even start, i already knew this is going to be so informative and packed with knowledge and therefore clicked LIKE already. And now almost finished the video, not taking the like back! I would just give 2 likes. You’re my favorite “luxury UA-camr” now! Thank you for all the details !!!
I recently bought a boy bag in caviar, in the new medium size and my bag looks a bit dull. Like an ashy black. In the store the display Chanel boy bag looked darker. So I wanted to ask does caviar changes it’s color through time?
Thank for for making this informative video! I like to buy vintage bags to fix up my self just for fun. Lambskin is the only leather I will buy because I can fix it up.
Totally agreed, the Lambskin is Chef’s Kiss, top notch! I love both leathers, but I am more likely to buy a Caviar piece for the bit of extra durability.
Thanks for this very interesting video :) I love both but if it's for everyday I choose caviar if it's for an occasion I choose lampskin. Have a nice day.
I think it depends on what it's worth to each individual, you know? Some people absolutely not! But for those who really love these bags or the brand, it might be worth it to finally get their dream item
Thank you for the explanation! I just got into luxury, esp bags, last year and I kept hearing about the quality of Chanel leathers but no explanation of what makes it a higher quality leather than the average leather bag. I have a lambskin jumbo double flap and a caviar classic tote. I love the "durability" of the caviar but if I'm being honest...the lambskin feels so soft and much more like a luxury bag. Given the grade used for Chanel bags, I like seeing and feeling the leather in it's almost purest form vs the embossing.
Thank you for a very informative great video! Love the science behind it! I have a beige Claire caviar classics flap medium which I never used because I hold it as an art piece! But I have noticed from the beginning there are a few white spots like dots in a few locations that seem superficial but it looks as though it never got the “paint” on ! They are not scratches. What do you think that could be?
I have heard of white dots developing on leather. In the event it isn't mold (hopefully not!!) there is sometimes called "fatty bloom" (such a great name 😅) and happens when residual fat in leather reacts to humidity and temp fluctuations. You might try seeing if it can be wiped off with a lint-free cloth.
@@classicswithaquirk yes i was thinking mold as well… but this does not come off ha! This once did happen to my little black ysl cardholder ( i happened to watch your saga) but that wiped off
Love the close up shots! You should do another video on leather grades and how to compare leather quality on one bag vs another. You seem to know quite a bit about leathers!
@@classicswithaquirk Awesome! I wonder how much is marketing vs. actual difference in quality. My Hermes SA keeps on telling me that they only use top layer leather unlike "some other brands"...
An interesting thing about Hermes is that they actually own a huge percentage of their entire manufacturing process, including farms and tanneries. It gives them a lot more control of their product. I'm planning to do a video on it!
Very interesting, I learned a lot. I appreciate the work that went into this video. Looking forward to next in the series. Caviar is my pick, I just like pebbled leather better.
Great video! Love seeing the different leathers up close side by side! I’m team lambskin. Agree that people generally mention quality and craftsmanship, without why or how. I’ve done some leather crafting classes and projects at a local place and it has definitely deepened my my appreciation for craftsmanship 🙂
Fascinating video and I agree with you on which leather is most luxurious. Where did you get the information that caviar comes from Holland and Switzerland? I've read several articles, LVbagaholic has an article on this and made references about the leather. Would love to know as I am a nerd too!
Thank you so much! The information about where leather is sourced from is from Chanel directly. I've contacted a bunch of brands in my quest to learn more about them 😊
💖👑💖quirky this vlog is so very helpful Big thank you for all the research you have done brilliant vlog 💖☺💖xx
I gained so much knowledge from this video! Im team caviar for sure because of the durability. Thank you for sharing your insights ☺️
Thank you so much for watching!!
Team lambskin! I’ve really been looking forward to this video and you did not disappoint. Thank you for all the great information. 😊
Thank you so much!!
Again, so interesting. Thank you for all the effort you put into your videos.

Thank you for this! Looking into Chanel and boutique only has lambskin.
💖👑👑💖🎬📽🎥WOW you have so much knowledge about all these Leathers I will watch this one again.💖☺💖xx👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
The deep dive channel I have been looking for! Subbed. Thank you 🌸
I loved this video! Super helpful and informative. And I think I’m team Lambskin 😄 thank you for sharing and putting together such a great series!

Thank for you this ❤️ you are amazing at explaining so clear and so knowledgeable!
Can you talk about Chanel's aged calfskin next? Thank you, really love your informative videos 😀
Aged calfskin is on my list! 🥰

Appreciate your informative videos . Able to compare the quality of ysl lambskin vs chanel?
I'll see what I can do!

You're welcome!
So very informative and interesting. I had no idea seasonal styles could be made from lesser quality caviar leathers!
Thank you!!
Wonderful video , now what about aged calfskin?
YESS I would love to know more about this too!
Haha, on the list of videos to make!
@@classicswithaquirk Thank you so much!
Woc da usare quotidianamente consigli cav o lamb? Grazie
hi, very informative video. i have a chanel key holder chocolate bar. i don’t know if it is caviar or lambskin it’s 2004.
Thank you for watching! I believe the chocolate bar SLGs were lambskin 🤔
I recently bought a boy bag in caviar, in the new medium size and my bag looks a bit dull. Like an ashy black. In the store the display Chanel boy bag looked darker. So I wanted to ask does caviar changes it’s color through time?
I've noticed that often boutique lighting is pretty terrible 😅 I have had bags look very different under those lights vs under other lighting.
Your knowledge in this area is very much appreciated. Thank you for sharing with us!
Thank you, Lauren!
Thank for for making this informative video! I like to buy vintage bags to fix up my self just for fun. Lambskin is the only leather I will buy because I can fix it up.

Looking for a Chanel non lamp skin bag in black with gold. Any suggestions?
Non lambskin? You might try taking a look at the reissues (aged calfskin). And of course, there's always caviar 🙂
Do I mean that Chanel price now worth the quality they r using. And I wanted your opinion about the lady dior

Thank you for such an informative video.. but will caviar age as shiny as the lambskin does?
Thank you for watching! Caviar will get its own patina over time, but it probably won't get to lambskin level of shine 🙂
