I may sound like an absolute lunatic here, but…. I had to send back a bag to a well known reseller, maybe the most “fashion”able reseller, because the item they sent to me was NOT the bag I purchased. I was nervous that I would get a hard time even though I filmed the entire unboxing, and contacted them within an hour of the item being delivered. Anyway, I took the box, labels, packing materials, tape etc., to the post office, started the video at the post office showing me put the bag in their dust bag, putting it in the box…. The entire process up to and including handing to to the postal employee and them taking the package from me. That is extreme I know, but in a case like yours, where you have been grossly misled, and frankly scammed, you may want to consider the same. I will NEVER purchase from Buyee. Additionally, based on this video alone, I will warn anyone and everyone considering making a purchase through them! I hope you get every single cent back from them. Please don’t fall prey to them again.
Social media is powerful, they are at the losing end, their reputation, their trust, no more. Thanks for sharing, hope more community gets to know another untrustworthy seller.
I live in Japan and am a seller/buyer on Mercari, and I have also purchased before from Yahoo vintage auctions and Rakuten. I will say that in Japan, a refurbished or painted bag is still seen as authentic by most sellers and they are not obliged to put that in the description (or at least all flea market sites are not strict about it). It is also extremely difficult to get a refund once the transaction has been settled. The only way a buyer can get a refund on Mercari/Yahoo auctions is by filing a police report and this could be a lengthy and expensive process. I can explain more if you wish about how Buyee operates on these platforms, but all I can say is nowadays you also need to be careful of fakes on these sites from China, in addition to refurbished items. I always triple check all the information in Japanese as well before I buy.
I just closed my account on Mercari because of all the fraudulent listings. I have contacted them (which appears to be just a generic call center) but nothing has been done to clean up the site. I will no longer sell or buy anything on this site.
@@babycakes8434 Lucky you I had dubes sent to me, "Made in China tags" Coach bags, oh well more expensive to bin in Japan, lose money just like that, Paypal just another story.

I will now never deal with them, especially if this is how they treat someone who has promoted their business! Sorry you had to go through this, but you've saved the rest of us, so thank you.
PayPal is crap. And Japan sellers can be just as scammy as anyone else. I bought a Gucci Disco from a Japanese eBay seller. I already have one that I bought direct from Gucci, I just wanted another color. Immediately when it arrived I knew it was fake. It had the fufu smell, was larger than my real one and had visible screws in the tassel hardware. I contacted the seller and they ignored me so I had it authenticated on my dime and it came back counterfeit. I opened a PayPal case they said they ruled in my favor but I had to mail back the bag on my dime to an address that PayPal gave me in that email. So I did but the address didn’t include and email or phone. So now UPS has been calling me asking for that info and PayPal has ignored my requests for that info. So now I’m out my money and I don’t even have a fake bag to show for it. Don’t trust anything just because it’s a Japanese seller and don’t trust PayPal to actually provide the protections they advertise.
I saw lots of luxury fakes on my trip to Japan in 2023. I’ve heard from other buyers they’ve purchased leather goods from Japan which proved to be inauthentic. I’m glad Quirky has behaved transparently about this experience with this vendor even though she had a commercial relationship with them. Not all influencers would have this integrity.
@@babycakes8434 nope. Since the return package was never marked delivered (because the address that PayPal gave me to send it to was incomplete) they closed the case and now I have lost over $800. I had similar experience. I bought a Ferragamo iconic top handle bag which was painted and had some repairs on the handle that weren't listed. After using in for only 2 times the paint start to fall out. I didn't contact Buyee because I knew that it will be worthless. And even if they were ok to refund me I still would have lost the custom fee, which is 23 % in my country, plus the shipping fee. So I kept it but every time I use it I have bad taste in my mouth. I think everyone buying from them should know that they are taking a risk.
Thank you for making this video and being honest with your viewers. I'm sorry you had that experience. Yes, the foreign market has some lovely items for sale, but I'm nervous about buying from outside of my own country. Shipping and duties are too expensive, particularly if there are problems with my purchase and return shipping fees and duty refunds are involved.

I bought from Buyee after watching a couple of your videos about it and I'll be honest I had no problem with the first 3 purchases. The last one not so muchI I'll be honest I did not buy Chanel. This time I bought a vintage Coach. The first 3 purchases were vintage Louis Vuitton and it went really smoothly. The Coach I absolutely loved it was just a small Maggie duffle bag and everything went smooth. When it came it was covered in mold measles. At the time I knew nothing about mold measles but it has been treated and the spores are gone but you can't get rid of the scars for that reason alone I'm annoyed and I also sent an email telling them I received this bag with mold measles that came through the international mail and came into my house. I never got a response from them. I will not buy from them again. If I had spent the money you did and received the treatment you did I'd never be able to sleep.
Wow, thank you for making this video! I tried to buy a Chanel bag from Buyee after your video about how to use their service. Anyway, the purchase did not work and I am thankful, because the deal seemed too good to be true. Most of all, I am thankful for your honestly and candor!!!! There are some UA-camrs who would continue to work with a sketchy company. Thank you, thank you, thank you, and that's why I watch you.... And I love my Delvaux bag, I think you introduced them to me. 🥰 NanZ
I just read an article on WWD concerning Chanel and What goes around trial selling unauthentic merchandise. The article says in Japan a big percentage of bags are painted
So sorry this was such a terrible experience for you. I'm glad you took the steps to get your money back. I find it insulting that they added a fee on your account! So short sighted of them and discouraging to ever use their service! I won't use their service after watching this. Thank you for sharing your terrible experience so others can avoid Buyee.
Thank you for sharing this video! I have been considering buying a designer bag as of late. I didn't even know bags can be painted! When you showed your Chanel bag even I could tell it was painted. I am so sorry that this happened to you, its definitely not right at all! Hopefully this company gets the message to treat their customers with respect.

Will not consider using them, no way! Preloved can be so nerve racking, I can only buy from places where I can return if I need to or I am 100% sure it will be ok. So sorry! Happy Early Bday!
Oh no! I'm so sorry this happened to you! So many selling platforms are seeming to lose their credibility right now. It's a shame! I'm shocked, that on top of selling this sub standard bag in the first place without disclosing the faults they are even screwing with a person they have been working with. I would not return had a similar situation from out of country "bathing suit" company (disputed with PayPal - just saw your update as well happy to hear you got your $$ back). The company sent me an invoice to charge me without my permission an additional $19.99 to send me the correct size and not refund me for what I paid - ridiculous . I told PayPal I followed their own return policy which they would send for someone to pick up and never did. They played the game and responded as late as possible and offered to refund only $ 40.00 and I adamantly refused that offer. I had to wait for PayPal to finished their investigation and in the end I got my full refund from PayPal. It was a nightmare and never experienced this with a company. In the end it was principal for me. Take Care.
Sorry about your unhappy birthday bag experience! I know the whole ordeal has changed your feelings somewhat about getting a vintage beige bag but I hope the perfect one shows up for you at some point! And thank you for sharing your experience!
This is so crazy. I think all the resale companies are hurting financially. It seems like customer service has fallen with all of them. Thank god for PayPal! Glad you got a full refund.
thank you for informing us ! I thought the Japanese sellers were more honest now I am extra wary sorry that you had to experience this hopefully this hasn’t diminished penchant for vintage lamb chanels
Thank you for sharing. I don’t think you should EVER buy anything from them again. I also think you should take down any videos where you’re endorsing them, as people that don’t normally watch all of your videos may stumble upon one of those videos and end up making purchases. If you don’t take them down, at least put a huge disclaimer in the beginning, explaining their unprofessionalism. I’m sure you’re not the first person this has happened to. It’s so sad that companies would do such shady business like that. I hope this video goes viral and puts them out of business. If I were you, I’d triple check that any other bags you purchased from them are authentic. Good luck.
Thank you for sharing this. I've only purchased from Japan from eBay sellers who pay for return shipping. That way, there's no issue and cost for returns. Even so, I'm very careful about buying so I've only had to return one bag. However, it's not a huge selection but I'm OK with that.
Oh no!😮 I wish that I would've watched this four hours ago; I just made my first purchase through them. Hoping for the best. I'm sorry that you had to go through this.
So sorry to hear about your experience with them, I remember you mentioning them in many of your videos but I do appreciate your integrity and letting your subscribers know that they are behaving this way when a customer is complaining, at lease you got all your money back with PayPal. If I was in your situation I would have never purchase from them again, they lost all credibility
I got sold a fake Dior bag from Zenmarket and they acted like it was no big deal, because the seller had few reviews. They didn’t care that it was fake!
Yes, similar issue had happened to me too. I returned the item under eBay buyer protection. Hope everything works out for you. Please keep us updated. I often believe I can ease my anger and make my life more peaceful if I can also accept….🤔 maybe it was me. Maybe I should have looked into the photos more closely. Enlarge the details and check into the stitches and edges. I regard photos are part of the description, because what you see if what you get. Also think of the meaning of this term, ‘Authentication’. ? It means ‘to authenticate for real or fake’. Inspection of the quality or imperfections is normally not part of authenticator’s job in this kind of transactions. If authenticator inspects for imperfections, they are doing something extra for the service. Cool down and think about it. Isn’t it? eBay protects buyers better. If you are not happy because ‘item not as described’, you could just send the item back to their authentication team in Los Vegas with a free shipping label. However, eBay charges sellers more, therefore the price you pay maybe more than that Japanese platform.
I recently purchased a Coach Mini Sierra from Poshmark that was suppose to be in Excellent used condition and received it and looks good, but it smells so bad like bad perfume or scented nail polish remover, not sure what it is exactly what it is. I have the bag outside. I also broke out with a rash by touching it. I will never buy from Poshmark again. Can't return it and seller seems to have blocked me.
I know almost nothing about luxury items, I don‘t own any, yet the minute I saw the THUMBNAIL of your video I could tell that the bag looked like it was painted. I started watching your videos a few weeks ago even if, again, I’ll probably never purchase any sort of luxury items, I just genuinely enjoy your content. I appreciate so much your honesty in this video. I‘m so sorry that you had to go through this, I can only imagine how frustrating and irritating this was. I work in customer service and this is not how you treat a customer. They didn’t even apologize and only offered a “only-this-time solution” just because you had an inside contact. Customer is not always necessarily right, but this was CLEARLY a huge mistake on their side, mistake for which they didn’t even apologize for. I hope this goes for the best and you get as much money back as possible. Don’t work with or purchase from them if you are upset and feel like you can’t trust them anymore, I’d do the same. That only shows integrity! You’ll find better deals and better people to work with! Good luck! 🤍
Honestly after hearing all of these horror story experiences that I have been hearing online, I will not purchase these big-ticket items online. There is too much at stake and to have to film yourself unboxing a bag or sending it to the post office and taking pictures is NOT worth the time and effort. I would prefer to go into a physical store and purchase something that I can actually SEE and FEEL with my own senses. It's the only way to truly know that you will be happy with your purchase.
I live in Japan and love shopping secondhand lux goods. I’ve never had problems (but have never used something like Buyee). Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience 😢
I agree. I have been Buyee since your introduction. The service has deteriorated recently and the customer service now non existed. I bought a fake bag and Buyee would not assist in anyway. I was told not to contact the seller and the site link was removed. They take no responsibility and impede your attempts for a resolution.
Very unfortunate that this happened to you . I actually had a friend who had this issue on Poshmart she bought a vintage Chanel patent leather bag and the seller actually painted it black it was originally white and it had this nasty tacky sort of texture to it -it’s very upsetting when you spend so much money just to find out that the item you bought isn’t as described I’m happy that things worked out for you❤️
Thank you for sharing this information…sad that you had to endure this terrible experience, but glad you were made whole by PayPal! Hopefully everyone who has seen your previous reviews of Buyee will see this one! TFS!🤗
It's always a red flag when a business uses the word "courtesy" to describe something that any customer is entitled to as a matter of course in any ethical business transaction. I have seen the red flag and I won't be doing business with Buyee. (Oh, and did I hear correctly that they re-charged you a fee that they had already been forced to refund because of their own dishonest business practices?? Wow 😬)
Oh no! This is gut wrenching! I did buy a lot from Buyee but mostly only items that are less than $800 each so far. Anything over $800, especially Chanel, right now I only buy from Amore Vintage Japan website.
@@cathavenicethings Ok. Last time I bought from Amore Vintage was Dec 2023. It's tough. Buying new from the store has it's quality issues and trying to buy vintage is also risky. What is a Chanel obsessed gal to do?
@@CravingLux For Channel, I would probably stick with buying vintage and preloved. But it is so disappointing that there are so many things you have to worry about as a buyer.
You are not saying that the bag was originally not authentic. You are saying that the paint is not authentic! Your point is totally fair! I have such a problem with people who buy online and create imaginary issues. You have not done that. The close-ups show a truly awful paint job! Thank you for the video. I would have settled for the loss of the shipping and fees and written off the loss. PayPal might not have agreed to the refund. Better to be sure! (Just saw the end. So glad you got your money back from PayPal. It is a great system!).
Wild to me that they would appreciate your influence enough to advertise with you but then not think enough of it to try to do everything right to fix your situation? Poor business sense if nothing else, I definitely won’t be shopping with them!
Sorry that you’re going through this - next time, ask for extensive and thorough photographs of the entire bag, including the stitching piping any clasps hardware interior linings zippers grommets straps feet handles
It seems like buyee is no different than other huge platforms selling luxury goods. Similar thing happened to me with another online platform on a smaller scale. After that I only buy things within my region and use only professional sellers with the return policy. So sorry to hear your experience. Actually when I was in Japan last year I had a chance to visit vintage stores and checked vintage Chanel bags. Most of them looked amazing but I didn’t get the same feeling when I touched them, it was too dry or rough if that makes sense.
Honestly, I'm still good with purchasing from Japanese Mercari using Buyee because my bags are generally only $500 or less, and I only buy from sellers I trust. I have eyed some Hermes and Chanel items on there, but have been way too nervous due to fear of landing in the situation you just described.
I got sent a fake Maison Margiela bag and buyee told me there was nothing they could do and couldn’t refund me. They quoted some notice on their website that basically says they wont refund for pretty much any problem with the bag, including misrepresentation or inauthenticity. I told them I didn’t expect them to give me a refund, but to manage getting me a refund through mercari, from the original seller who defrauded me. Nope. Buyee said it’s not their problem. Moral of story: you are 100% at risk buying from Buyee. You have less protection buying through them than you would have buying from these sellers directly, though most may not ship to the US. The only recourse is through paypal and your credit card company. In which case youd probably get penalized or blacklisted by buyee. Buyer beware on acid.
At first I thought they had touched up a little wear and tear (which should be done professionally!) but the fact that they painted the entire bag is mindblowing to me. Whyyy?
WOW!!!! they SERIOUSLY added those charges STILL even after paypal determined they were in the wrong?! What a horrible company. Thanks for the heads up, i will never use them now.
I have purchased through Buyee in the past, and may again in the future, but I've never purchased items that had a high likelihood of being faked, and I never spent a lot on any one item. It is very disappointing to hear your experience. They should ensure the items match the auction descriptions, which your bag clearly doesn't, and probably have a North American address where they can accept returns in cases like these. Happy Birthday anyway!
@ramirofy sent back a Chanel bag to Japan cos of undeclared wear and tear, and then experienced border issues because some documents? were not included. So Japanese customs couldn’t verify its authenticity. I think the bag was destroyed😢
You have still have to challenge that last charge and dispute because they fault at the whole situation. I am no legal expert. But if you don't pay the last charge, it will go int to aging receivable and debt collector will come and affects your credit. They are sneaky company
I bought a fake Chanel bag from eBay and since the shipping took forever due to corona, eBay decided to close the case in favour of the seller. I opened a case on PayPal and the came though and I recieved the whole amount. PayPal is very good.
I had the very same experience with Vestiaire. They just said something along that it wasn't against their standards and generously offered me to relist the bag... Such a disappoitment.
I've had some horrible experiences purchasing from Japanese sellers. One bag was a fake and the second was a wrong bag and also a fake. I got my money back both times (Thank you, PayPal), but the experience was very unpleasant and upsetting. Also, some resale websites are teaming with fakes (Mercari). I'll just stick with reputable US sellers from now on.
I just closed my Mercari account and will no longer sell or buy from that site. The obvious fraudulent listings are just allowed on there, and they will no nothing to clean up the site.

Also, I suspect I was looking at that exact bag a couple of months ago.
Never heard of the site before. And after this video definotely will nto be using them. Glad you got your money back.
Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience - very helpful and much appreciated 💓
Oh my goodness!!!! I am so sorry this happened to you!😢
Sorry about your unhappy birthday bag experience!
I thought the Japanese sellers were more honest now I am extra wary
sorry that you had to experience this
hopefully this hasn’t diminished penchant for vintage lamb chanels
Good luck.
Great video. Real talk about the pitfalls of luxury.
Can this be a credit card chargeback for fraud?
Thank you for sharing this. I've only purchased from Japan from eBay sellers who pay for return shipping. That way, there's no issue and cost for returns. Even so, I'm very careful about buying so I've only had to return one bag. However, it's not a huge selection but I'm OK with that.
Sorry this happened. Helps me see that there are nuances to the definition of "authentic". Unbelievable.
That sucks! I’m glad you got your money back!❤
What a roller coaster!! 🎢
Terrible experience, I hope more people will expose this companies. I’m glad you were able to resolve this unfortunate problem!
Thank you for posting this video. I like to learn from other people’s experiences. By the way, I love your haircut! ❤
Yeah, send it back and thanks for the warning!
They should have just made it right from first contact.
Their lack of ethics will cost them much more than a refund.
What a horrible experience you had to go through. I'll avoid using Buyee. Thank you for sharing, you just gained a new subscriber. 👜
Good luck! 🤍
🙀 (And happy belated birthday!)
TFS!🤗
Thank you so much for informing us about your experience. No, I’d not buy from them.
Wow 😬)
Did you have any issues with authenticity? Are they responsible in case there is an issue in terms of authenticity?
Sorry for your experience! 😢. At least you can get most of your money back and be finished with the company! Bye Byee!
I would return it as it would really annoy me and never will I buy from them again! so sorry for your experience. no more business from them!
Oh no! This is gut wrenching! I did buy a lot from Buyee but mostly only items that are less than $800 each so far.
Anything over $800, especially Chanel, right now I only buy from Amore Vintage Japan website.
Amore Vintage, unfortunately, has had its own Channel scandals semi-recently.
@@cathavenicethingsAmore don’t accept returns
@hw7029 Yes, I am aware. Buyee doesn't accept returns too. It's best to go to Japan to shop but most people don't have that option. Cheers!
Honestly... this bag looks awful! Sorry you had to go through this 😢. Congrats on reaching 10K subscribers ❤
So how do you plan to potentially buy items from Japan now that Buyee is no longer an option?
Was the photos used in the listing inaccurate then?
Whyyy?
The bag probably was in too bad shape to touch up.
Just noticed the monsters inc popcorn bucket in the background! I have one as well. Did you get it from Japan?
WOW!!!! they SERIOUSLY added those charges STILL even after paypal determined they were in the wrong?!
Does your credit card have any purchase guarantee?
Hi, what a horrible experience. Thank you for sharing. I had no knowledge of Buyee but now I know to stay away from them.
Thanks for sharing.
Could it be stated in the original Japanese text that it was repainted and that part was not translated?
I would have trusted PayPal to deal with it from start to finish concerning the return.
You can dispute the charge with your bank and get a refund within a month
Oh wow you can clearly see it’s been painted. This is so sad
Glad PayPal sided with you. It’s the reason I use PayPal whenever I buy things online from brands that I don’t have full trust on.
