Welcome to medical school Taneica. This video was more about the logistics of the actual venepuncture. You are correct the blood should be gently mixed with the additive in the tube by inverting. Always make sure to label with the patients ID, date of birth, first and last name, the location, date and time the sample was taken and to sign the bottle as the person who took the blood. When we remake this one we will include that next time - thanks for the feedback. And good luck to the future Dr Gayle.
sthwestb His order of draw was correct, Coag tubes comes first, i.e if you are not drawing up for cultures, then SST ( yellow).. his tourniquet was laughable but for a skills lab he did ok..
His order of draw was correct. It’s just some people use yellow first for waste… to make sure air don’t enter the blue top. Lol, yes he need to practice his tourniquet. Also, should have release tourniquet during the last tube and of course invert.. but he did well with his communication.
I think he needs to be re trained how to put on a tourniquet as he put it on like tying a shoe-lace??? Agree with others regarding not securing the holder and his position is wrong... ??
This is old teachings. The teacher needs a teacher. LOL! You should set-up all your supplies before getting started. Patient should not pump fist continuously. It looked like he tied the tourniquet in a knot. Did not invert tubes. Circular motion should be used to clean the site. His hands were covering the needle site, so you couldn't see. No anchoring and the switching of hands, in a weird awkward position to teach students. This is not the correct way, but he did get the vein for the blood draw, Well done.
Very good draw, good technique thank you
What is the name of the belt that you wear on your trousers? I'm looking for this belt.
Could anybody wright the name of the patient? I cant understand (Russian).
Nope... all our patient's are anonymous.
The pillow tho 😂😂😂
A sharp scratch and no pain at all? 😂😂😂 Yeah sure, go with that. 😒😳
It doesn't hurt that much!
Great draw! However, you forgot to invert the tubes!🤔🤔🤔
He didn't invert the tubes 5-8 times plus he didn't explain how they should labelled. 😐😐😐 I'm in my first month @ school.

Hi Taneica! Thanks for the feedback hope school is going well. We are always looking to improve so thanks.
He also didn't start out with the yellow top, blue, purple then invert the blue then
purple... and who taught him how to put a tourniquet on?? =0 \
He learnt it in the heat of battle... and all in the inversions took place off camera (obvs) ;)

I like being examined by hot looking doctors like him, but may have turn the other way when having blood taken from me.
