This is the best way to crochet an i-cord.
Yes, I agree! 💚
Yep works left handed too! Thank you ❤️
@@TuulaMaaria thank you so very much - again! My crocheting has improved so much since I found you! ❤🎉
Thank you for the easy to understand video!
This is sooooooo much easier than some other tutorials I have watched. Now I can finish my pumpkin!
Great to hear, hope you finished it, or made several! 👍
So easy!!! I love it!! Thank you!
I use this as a starting chain on many projects. To me it is easier to see than a regular chain.
thank you so sooo much. i've been finding ways to crochet icord to make a bow tie for my baby's socks and found your video. this is the best way. Saving so much time 😊
Lovely, glad to hear! 😊
So glad i found this! Making my husband a gift for valentines and needed tube like chains for part of it, every other post was more complicated than it needed to be but this is SO easy
Lovely - yes, I love this too because it is so easy!
I just tried this and I love it. I always made baby shoe laces using chain and then slip stitches which I hate doing. This was so much faster and easier and didn’t curl. Thank you !!!!!
Lovely, great to hear! 💙
This is the easiest way I have come across so far. Thank you for sharing!
Great to hear!
Thank you so much for this tutorial! You've helped me create some awesome handmade Christmas gifts
Thank you very much
You are the only one who demonstrated this so well.
Thank you, happy to hear! 💙
I did mine in two colors. It makes a nice trim. It would be gorgeous in metallic yarns! Thanks so much.
Yes, I have used metallic yarns with this for Christmas garlands.
First time viewing a short video and I picked the perfect one. I subscribed to your channel. I'm a beginner and your very easy to follow. I learned to crochet just to be able to make ear savers to donate with my 3 layer filter pocket contour face mask for our local front line workers, doctors and anyone that had to wear their mask for long periods of time. They loved them and I fell in love with crocheting even thou wreathing was main hobby. I started making small sections with $1 yarn in different stitch patterns. I found one I really liked so I ordered some yarn and made some scarfs. Then I wanted afghans for every room. In the process I found just a pic of a unicorn sleeping bag. My daughter loved it so we ordered more yarn and some size 10 crochet thread to make embellishments on it as she wants it as an Afghan or a wall hanging in her room depending on how big it turns out. The blanket pattern is a simple repeat of a SC twice in every other stitch, thin yarn hearts and stars will be easy as I've been practicing I was stuck on how I was going to make the horn and curly crochet pieces for the unicorns mane. Thank you so much for sharing. Her unicorn will at least have a mane with a dimensional look. Not sure about its horn yet as I want it to stand out as well. If I make several cords, twist and them all together will it stand up or will I need to twist them around an object of some kind so it does flop down? 💜💜💜
It's lovely to hear that you have so taken to crochet and enjoy it! I think it was your comment I answered earlier today about curly bits, hope you see that one too. And thank you for subscribing, hope you will continue to enjoy crocheting! 😊
This is so much better than how I was initially trying to do it! You just saved my project!!
Great to hear, thank you!
Never knew this type of stich, very easy to learn 💗💗💗
True, it's easy! 🙂
Wow, Thanks for sharing! The method I was using required having 3 loops on your hook then removing 2 and then crocheting them them back on. Never again!
Yes, that is the method often shown.very slow and complicated! When I need a wider cord I use 2 hooks, almosr like knitting with crochet hooks! ua-cam.com/video/iLMbKIS-wCw/v-deo.html
@@TuulaMaaria Perfect. Thank you!
Thank you so much for taking your time so I could follow! What a perfect icord... Thank you again...
Great, thank you!
Finally someone that does slip knot like I do!
Oh, that's interesting, I haven't paid attention to how people do it!
@@TuulaMaaria Most tie a slipknot with thier hands 1st!!
@@angelaharris1112 Oh I see, right enough, now that you say it; have seen that often, just not paid any attention to that as the result is the same!
Woah I thought I was the only one too! Always thought this was the fastest way
I am so grateful to you for sharing this. I have struggled with knitted icord. This seems much user friendly.
Great, yes, this goes fast!
You make it look simple.i didn't like taking the needle and putting back on the needle but your method is so easy.thank you my dear sister.Gid bless you.❤
Wonderful!
This is a great idea. I'll have to find some uses for this interesting cord. Looks fun to make.
Yes, I love making that, laat used it as ties on a baby bonnet. 🙂
this looks far simpler than all the other instructions I've found to make these. thank you
Great to hear!
Oh thank goodness for sharing this. I needed this to finish a project. This is way easy than the one where you hook off and hold on 2 stiches, just doesn't work for me. Thanks a lot for sharing. Just found you and I like & subscribed. Keep the videos coming. 👍☺️
Wonderful! You are right, holding on to stitches is so complicated! I also have a video about wider icords, you use 2 crochet hooks so you don't need to hold on to stitches. ua-cam.com/video/iLMbKIS-wCw/v-deo.html
This is the best video that showed me how to make an I cord. Thank you so much! I was almost at the point of changing the pattern that I was utilizing because the other version of this was not working for me. but after watching your video, I feel much better about this. I was able to finish this so much quicker than before.
Glad it helped! Happy crocheting! 💗
Omg! Im amazed! Finishing some crocheted ear flap hats with i cord.my first hat i did a while ago i used atool to knit the icord
For some reason it wastnt happening.same yarn and watch tutorial to make sure i was starting right.i got so frustrated...scrolled down further and found this tutorial! I can not believe how easy it is.ty!😊
Found this comment in the spam 💗 When there is a space missing after a full stop and in this case the next word was 'my' then UA-cam understands it as a link and automatically goes to spam!
So glad you found this tutorial useful! Happy new year!
This was very useful information!! Thank you 🐰🐰
Thank you 🙂
Than k you very much. This is the easiest. ❤
Love it! Video mentions you can cover cords, could you add a tutorial showing how to do this?
That's an idea, could do that! Basically, have to crochet round the cord you are wanting to cover, so it stays inside the stitches.
This is AMAZING!! It’s perfect!’
This is excellent. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Very fast and easy to do. Even as a beginner I did it my very first try but got carried away and went a little too long causing the curl to go straight. So I started another with less length hanging. As long as I keep them in small sections they curl just enough for the look I wanted. It is going to look so pretty in the strips or ombre yarn I have for my project. Hard part will be deciding. Maybe I could alternate the 2 they are matching color schemes 🤔 Again tfs💜
Fantastic idea I 💕 it 🌹
This tutorial is the best one ive found!! Easy to understand as a beginner ^_^
Thank you, happy to hear!
Thank you very much for this tutorial!!!! I seen the 3 loop way and could not get it!! This just helped so much. And i learned a new technique. Never tried the icord. 😊😅
Great to hear!
AWESOME!!!! thanks for sharing! I can't wait to use this method!
Thank you, that's great!
This will really come in handy! Thank you.
Great, thank you!
Ive been trying to do this for ages without a tutorial 😅 I finally understand thank you so much lovely 🥰
I'm so glad!
Thank you so much❤
Very helpful! Thank you tuula
Great! 😊
You are the cutest!
I've been watching your videos and learning from your very easy-to-understand instructions.
Excellent selection.
Don't stop :)
Thank you so much, no, I have no plans to stop for quite a while! 😊💗
Nice. Thank you
Thank' for teaching me❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
My pleasure 😊
This is one I’ve never come across anywhere. Thanks for sharing and putting in your time and talent for others. Jesus loves you!!
Great that it was useful! 💙
Thanks a lot for this. You are the best!!
Glad you like it! 💚
This is great - can’t wait to try
Hope you enjoy it!
My cord has a front and a back, which don't think is true with a proper i-cord. I notice they don't really turn the cord in the video. That being said this is much much easier and for many projects would work just as well. I'm gonna use this in place of a foundation chain. Thanks for the tutorial!
Yes, this works well as a foundation chain too. It is one way of making a cord, depends on what type you need, which of the many ways you would make it.
Wow so awesome! Thank you! I wanted to make one and I had no clue how!
Glad I could help!
This is brilliant 😁
Thank you so much for sharing your skill
Thank you 💗
This is the best, it works up quickly and is beautiful. ❤
I shared this video on pinterest, on two different boards.❤ I hope that helps your channel. You are brilliant!
I enjoy your accent, I lost my dad in 1994, long time ago, he is from the netherlands. I don't think you have a Dutch accent but I could be wrong. It's been many years since I've heard one.
Either way, yours is beautiful❤
Thank you so much for sharing the video! 💗 I'm Finnish, there would be some similarities to the Dutch accent!
Nice and straightforward. How long is the tail… the non working yarn when measured by the length you want to make?
About 3 times.
Easier than I thought. Thank you for the video.
Great, yes, this is an easy way to do it!
Cool thank you for sharing this ☺️❣️
You are so welcome 💙
Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!❤
Hi Mrs Tuula, is it correct to use the i-cord to be our "foundation chain"?
I learnt how to do it yesterday and continued to build single crochet rows.
I realized that this foundation works better for me as it is more sturdy and more even than the regular foundation chains.
😊
Yes, I have heard people using this as a foundation chain. It would work fine I'm sure - I haven't tried but it would be similar to chainless foundation.
I knitted a hat with early flaps and wanted to make a cord attached to tie it under the chin. This is perfect! Thank You! Do I make both strands the same length? How long would you suggest the chain be?
That's great! For a hat I would make the cords the same length, the length depends on who the hat is for. For a baby they shouldn't be too long for safety but long enough to comfortably tie.
Thank you! I just made my very 1st I-cord!!but now wondering how to close the end..
You can just cut the yarn, pull the end through the last stitch and weave the end into the cord.
Thank you ty ty!
This is THE ONLY method I have mastered!!! I have watched 7 videos on how to make i-cord. This is superior to all ! (Those ‘ 3 ch, pull loop in each and slip 2 ch off’. They must be joking
I agree, the ones where you have to take the hook off and hold on to stitches just doesn't work! Although the way that you almost knit using 2 crochet hooks works fine for me, ua-cam.com/video/iLMbKIS-wCw/v-deo.html
Thank you so much!
Thnx Tuula.nice cord
Thank you! 🌸
Thank you ☺️
Thank you
Love this cord , but how do you finish off the end when completed? Please.
You pull the left yarn through the live stitch, then cut both and hide them in the cord. Or use as sewinf yarns if you are joining the cors to something like a keychain or as a strap.
how do i bind this i-cord off?
You first cut both yarns, then pull the working yarn through the loop and then the other.
@@TuulaMaaria thank you :D, that makes sense from what i've been doing
can you use this to cover a length of wire?=
No, this isn't hollow. For that you could use this method ua-cam.com/video/C_HF_-wBjOk/v-deo.html , it is basically knitting with two crochet hooks but it's fast for a hollow cord.
I'm making these only about the length of my finger. If the curl doesn't stay could I wrap it around a pen and spray it with starch or krylon triple thick clear adhesive spray? Or do you know another way to crochet with a 3d look but curly.
If you want curly things like octopus "feet", it's better to first make a chain and 2-3 single crochets into each stitch, then it curls.
❤❤❤
Hi I have a doubt ..
Iam doing I cord crochet on baby wool
( wire name ) generally what aluminium wire should I use 1 mm ,2 mm or 3mm? Kindly help me out
Can we use 1 mm ??
Am from India
1 mm is really small, if you are using wool yarn, you would probably need a bigger hook.
@@TuulaMaaria mam am asking about what aluminium wire should I use (1mm ,2mm or 3 mm thickness ?) ...
How do you determine the length of the tail end yarn to make this type of icord?
Normally 3 times the length of the finished cord you need is enough.
@@TuulaMaaria thanq 😘
So easy, thanks! but how do i finish it :(
At the end you just cut the yarn and pull it through the last loop, just as if it was a chain and weave in the yarn end.
but how would you finish up the end? also i want to make a loop with the cord but i dont know how to
At the end you just cut the cords and pull through the last loop. To make a loop at the end, leave one of the yarns a bit longer before cutting and sew the end to where you need the loop to start.
How can u change colors using this methodddd
You need to take the new colour so you have a long tail, just continue with the new colour as with the first colour.
What needle we need to use ?
You need a hook that goes with the yarn you are using.
@@TuulaMaaria thank you mam for replying
How do you work out how long to leave the end?
I leave about 3 times the length of cord needed.
What are i-cords best used for?
People use them for all sorts of purposes. As ties or drawstrings, hanging loops, for edging, in keychains, ribbons, straps, in garlands, I use then a lot in yarn bomb projects etc.
@@TuulaMaaria thank you! What is a yarn bomb project? 😀

👍
I have tried n tried this method n it just don't work for me
Oh, I wonder why it doesn't work.
Is it just me or is this very similar to a long tail cast on for knitting?
I wouldn't have thought so but there are similarities!
How long should your tail be? Maybe I need 2 balls . Lol😂
The tail needs to be about 3 times the length of the cord.
I can’t do it!!😢
Where do you get into a problem?
I cant either! How do you hold the cords?
Music is distracting 😢
Music is a thing that some people like on videos, others don't!
Spoooky music😂
That is a Half-Icord
Haven't heard of a half-icord! Maybe it is!
