Where can you find a mechanic book for this car?? One of those books you can pick up at lome autozone or similar places, that tell you all about the parts and how to take apart, replace and put back together??
Check online for a Mazda2 Repair Manual in either book or digital form. There may be a Chilton, Haynes, etc book that you can buy, but there are definitely some digital manuals that you can purchase and download. I’m not sure of how legitimate they are, however.
Hello, Great channel. Can you help me find a simple bluetooth adapter that will attach to the back of the radio? My car is a 2013 Mazda 2 USA I bought one off of Amazon and after pulling the dash out to get to the radio, it does not fit....
So what are your opinions on the commercially available mufflers? Your custom rig sounds great and the few videos I've seen profiling the other market players don't really leave me thrilled due to low quality.
Hello, I have got few questions. My Current Wheel Setup is stock 16 X 6.5J ET50 by Mazda, PCD4x100, Hankook 195/45/16 tyres. I am interested in upgrading to MSW 25 or MSW 85 , 16 X 7J, PCD 4x100 (Hankook 195/45/16 tyre = the same) . My car's ride height is not lowered and it is the original Mazda setup. Where I am getting confused is the offset, both Wheels come in offset 37 or 42. My understanding is ET 42 is Higher offset and ET37 is the highest offset then ET 50 (OEM). Going for the 16 x 7J x ET 37 would mean that I am furthest away from the suspension and very very close to the wheel arch, and ET42 means that I am not as far away suspension and as far close to wheel archer, please correct me if I am wrong? My knowledge of alloy wheels is very little. Which offset would you guys recommend? Would I be able to use my current lug nuts and wheel locks? would I need to realign my wheels once the new ones are installed (all 4 wheels)? Would the new setup catch any part of the wheel area? would I have any problem with steering? Thanks a lot.
You’re spot on. Both of those wheel offsets will fit with no issues on the 2. I recommend +37, which will fill the arches a little bit better. You will likely need aftermarket lugs and locks, as OEM style don’t often fit in the holes on aftermarket wheels. You also don’t need an alignment when simply changing wheels. 👍🏻
Hey mate, love your channel & your projects. I got a 2008 Mazda 2 16 inch alloys with stock 195/45R16. I'm not too happy with the stock & wanted a few recommendations.
There are so many wheel styles and sizes out there. It’s all personal preference. I already have the wheels I want, so I don’t have a list in mind for wheel options. It’s not like there are two choices, so you’ve got to do some homework and pick the ones that you like. I hope you find something that suits your tastes!
What spring rate are you running up front? Maybe you can review the coilovers in contrast with the Megan springs you ran before? Track vs street use, etc...
Without having them back to back, I don’t feel it would be effective to compare them. However, I might do a long-term review of the coilovers or something down the line. 👍🏻
The difference can't be subtle though, right? I mean you more than doubled the spring rates and probably tripled the damping? I'm curious because I'm deciding between Eibach/STR.T and a coilover setup for street use on the 2. I had RacingBeat springs and Koni yellows on an NB Miata and thought that was a tad rough, while RB springs and Tokico blues on my Protege5 was just right. I'm a little wary of coilovers so just looking for impressions. What do you think?
Firstly, the general concensus on Koni STR.Ts for this platform is that they suck, so pass on those. Secondly, properly set up coilovers will always ride better than, and outperform, lowering springs and aftermarket dampers. Always. Something else to think about is that by the time you buy springs and good dampers, you’re most of the way to a set of coilovers cost wise. It’s not the spring rates you need to be afraid of, necessarily, especially at softer rates. 6k (300-ish lbs) isn’t stiff. However, yes, riding around on something like 700lb springs on the street will kind of suck, for example. I love my Fortune Auto 500s. 6k front and 4k rear is great on the road and offers plenty of performance on the track. The shocks are well matched to the springs and offer great control and comfort over road imperfections. Since my car is dual purpose but mostly daily driven, I chose to keep it soft and compliant. Realistically, I probably could have gone with some stiffer springs and sometimes wish I had, but they do their job and do it well as is. The real downside is that they’re $1400 and that’s without any options (Swift springs, different rates, etc). What it really comes down to is what you’re willing to spend to get what you want. If you’ve got the money, I highly recommend the Fortunes. I also always recommend BC Racing coilovers to people because they’re more affordable, are quality pieces, and are a nice all-around option that meet most people’s needs. Hope that helps!
Yes it certainly does! I think the stock spring rates are like 100 lbs/in, so going up to 300 sounds scary. But maybe it's not so bad. Definitely some food for thought...Thanks for the input!
What up, I really enjoy and learning from ur videos. But do u have a suggestion or info for struts and shocks for lowering my Mazda 2. Really appreciate it😎
For lowering springs, you can buy whichever ones you want. People have used $80 eBay springs on their 2s and they work just as well as expensive ones. It all comes down to what you’re comfortable spending and how low you want them to go. For struts/shocks, you can run the stock ones with lowering springs if they’re in good shape and the springs don’t go really low and if not, I recommend a set of Koni Yellows. Really, I recommend a set of coilovers because after you spend money on springs and dampers, you might as well have bought coilovers. The best option for budget and capability is BC Racing. Hope that helps!
What would you recommend to give my Mazda two a little more pick up power? I know it’s a low horse power car and I honestly don’t mind that but I would like to give it a little more pep in its step if possible.
What bolt on exhaust would you recommend? I would want to stay away from something that gives the impression that I am working with something when I’m really not. Just something that gives it a nice sound and helps the car out as you stated in your last reply to my question.
Great Mazda mods. I have a 2012 Mazda 2 and my radio has stopped producing sound. The power comes on but no sound. I have tried the "hit the dash" trick and it worked for a few times, but now it won't come on. Do you possibly have any suggestions? Thanks
I’ve never had that issue myself, so I’m unsure of what it could be. Going off other people’s experiences, this seems to happen randomly and those owners just replace the radio with another factory unit or a nicer aftermarket piece.
@@HiroshimaSpirit That's what I was probably going to do. Thanks for the fast reply. I love my mazda. Mind you, it is an automatic. I've had it for 6 years and put 130K on her. I think more tire on any car is better. The ride quality will greatly improve and tire sizes for smaller wheels are less expensive. In the case of the 2, I personally think anything over 15” is too big. You could MAYBE pass with 16” if they’re the right looking wheels. When you step down to smaller wheels, there are a lot more choices as well. In the end it’s all personal preference, but I prefer 15s with meaty tires. 👍🏻
No, we can not get the current Mazda2 in the US. Puerto Rico is as close as you can get. Yes, the Scion/Toyota iA is 95% a Mazda2. Engine, trans, chassis, interior, etc. All Toyota did was change the badges and the front bumper cover.
That won’t give you cruise control. Only way to easily get cruise control in a 2 is to buy a Touring trim. Even with the correct steering wheel, airbag, and ECU, a Sport still won’t have cruise control capability for some dumb reason. There is also the Rostra aftermarket cruise control kit which apparently works pretty well.
+TBRacing21 Not currently. Just the slotted holes on the coilovers maxed out. I think I’m going to use the bolts again to add some more, however. 2.2 degrees isn’t enough. I still get a little bit of roll over onto the sidewalls at the track.
I bought the exhaust second hand and installed it before I made the channel. I don’t know anything about it other than the brand and that it sounds good. lol Sorry

Typically between 13 and 17 km/l, depending on how I drive.
DaedalusZero wow. Here in the Philippines commonly 10km/l and max is 13 as per our group because of heavy traffic and a hot weather.
Hot weather should help with fuel economy because the car will run leaner. The heavy traffic is where you lose it.
