I absolutely love the panzer ii, and I think you absolutely nailed the aesthetic of a well-used eastern front panzer ii. The diorama does it incredible justice aswell
About at half way into the video I just stoped it and went to work on my current model. I know I have said it already but now I will say again: Thank you for the ispiration, Martin! I love the scorched effect.
Love the vids man! Built models as a kid (poorly) and have just bought a 1/72 strv 103 and 1/35 strf 9040B with a photoetch kit. All thanks to you. The format of your videos is so clean, personal and just enough useful information to make them great tutorials yet entertaining. You are a cut above in the genre!! Love from Sweden! 😍
In an attempt at being more efficient, I just hit the like button right before the play button - I cannot recall ever NOT liking a Night Shift video. Thanks Uncle, looking forward to the next.
Figures... if you add them are probably the most important part and if you don't have good ones like the old Dragon figures shown you can IMO, ruin a nice model. Resin or 3d print is of course the better option. Nice work as always Martin!
Now I want to hear that 20 minutes of cursing while you carved that base, because I need to learn some new cursewords to shout while modelling myself! Old ones have been used too many times already.
The idea of painting over traditional scenery materials and treating it like a model itself has never occurred to me. It ends up looking so much more unified and detailed. Amazing amazing amazing.
I am a former firefighter, and we were called to a lot of wildlands fires, and your base looks spot on. Neat subject, and looks great..even without figures ;)
You really have come on leaps & bounds since you started, very nicely done, it’s all in those extra efforts & details, research is key as well but it’s also about learning from the old mistakes.
Excellent! I like the smaller bases you build, to me they are better "snapshots" in time. All too often in most larger diorama bases I've seen, something or things will be out of scale or lacking detail and it will distract the viewer from an otherwise fantastic model. It is very rare to see a convincing larger diorama! Well done sir!
MAN! the lvl of detail on that tank! HOLY S**t!!! You are such an inspiration. Gonna start my first model really soon. Thanks for your tips and detailed explanation of your techniques!
Once you get the general “shape” of the “ground”, if you use a rasp, it’s much easier to finish shaping your foam. Also, it leaves the surface good and rough enough for clays to adhere without having to use PVA. Of course you still can, and I do, but you don’t need near as much.
Here's to a 150k subscribers soon Night Shift! Well deserved. Looking forward to a diorama scene. This is Master Class model making in high quality video production.
That had to be one of the most beautiful Tanks I've seen! The burnt scene? No way! A burnt house combined with the burnt scene would have been the key. Figures always a plus! Always great on your videos ty :)
Ive been painting models of AC's from the game armoured core for a while now and this base idea was a real wakeup call for me. Ive been making super complex destroyed skyscrapers with AC falling and crashing into them. Gunna be trying simple ones like this from now on i think lol
Your videos are just great !! Since your first videos I'm always looking forward to the next one. I myself have been doing this hobby for over 45 years, but you inspire me very much, always have new ideas and type, you are my absolute favorite UA-camr. Keep going :-)))
NO WAY. i got those same german figures when i was about 12. pretty sure ive still got them somewhere unassembled and unpainted! thank for the flashback man
I haven’t made a model or diorama in 40+ years but I’m enjoying your videos immensely. And yeah, this “scorched earth” diorama? Quite nice; quite nice indeed!
An impressive job once again Uncle! I loved the final layout and the details you put into this little diorama. It fits that tank so well. Looking forward to the next project. Cheers from Australia!
Excellent!! So interesting to see how the build up of layers on the road add to the final effect, well worth putting in the extra effort. Liking the look of AK’s Crackle Effect too, have to try some of that😯👍. Cool how the terrain comes to life as soon as the lighter colours sprayed over the dark base, & the scorched groundwork adds that extra element. Another great tutorial...🔝👏🙂
Absolutely amazing work, I watch every video entirety as commentary is so cool, massive respect for your advice, many skills and super high quality work, I look forward to every instructiom video from you, regards vinnie 🇬🇧
Looks great! Hmmn... I always wondered why the Germans chose dark yellow/green/red brown for their camo - turns out it looks like ground! Who knew? Loved this series on the Pz2 - great set of videos.
I know I'm practically a year late to the part but the tank and the terrain both look excellent! I do see what you mean about the model feeling out-of-place in the terrain, though. As a Californian, I can say that maybe some ash of varying sizes on the tank itself might help it fit in a little more. I live many miles away from the many fires we've had the last few years and even so, there's always visible ash all over my car whenever they happen. Some of it's so fine it's basically dust. Also, the sunlight turns a deep orange because of all the particles in the air, but I don't know how helpful that would be in the context of a diorama. Anyway, love the crazy amount of care and detail, and the casual atmosphere of this channel. Looking forward to more!
Hi Martin! Get yourself a 40mm drill head/bit to drill holes for wooden door hinges -you know? That one in a fixed drill will make a great millingmachine for styro-foam.
I can understand your dislike of pigments when you have all of those nice products. In terms of budget though, pigments can fulfill a lot of roles in model making. I also enjoy making my own pigments for dust and mud effects
@@Charles_Bro-son i kinda have to disagree, those soft details look pretty good with some simple drybrushing and washes. The poses can look good in a setting but of course they look weird on their own. I dunno man, i still enjoy painting old tamiya figures, yes they cant beat resin but what's on there is often good enough, at least for me.
@@efeyigit6766 I would certainly go the extra mile to modify them to my liking, but I enjoy figures probably more than Nightshift :D Also always enjoyed painting tabletop miniatures.
Now I've seen pictures of some Dragon Gen2 figures and they seem way better than the ordinary ones! Also, Tamiya has been killing it with their plastic figures which they include in their recent armor kits.
I do HO scale modeling as well as watch/ research The Great War (Pt I and Pt II). I didn't catch the Night Shift logo.... plus it's pretty late, over tired, etc (that's my story...) clicked the link and... nope. not a WWII documentary, LOL. Of course I still watched it (where's the two thumbs up button?!?) and picked up a few tricks I can use in the future. Awesome build, as always!
Well yeah I use the German oxide primer to paint Cedar trees and logs etc for dioramas, it's a great base then some AK worn effects and a wood or middlestone etc over it gives a great bark effect
I absolutely love this base. Would have loved to see some live/smoldering embers around the scorched ground but overall still a fantastic piece of work. Big ups. 👍
Love your work bro,I have to admit I sometimes get a little jealous when you achieve results on your first try that I still cannot after years of refinement. I particularly like when you scratchbulid or use recycled / cheap easy to obtain materials rather than ready made expensive/hard to obtain materials.
nice job man, looks amazing 👍 could you do a tutorial how to start modelling? like how to mix colors and what you should buy or how much do you have to spray. Would be really nice 😁

hmm yes, the scorched earth here is made of scorched earth

"But the base is now gonna have higher street-cred with some bling!" That just killed me :D

Now you actually have to do a 2×2 meter diorama with 20 buildings and a scyscraper (a very tall church also would do it) :)
Nah I'm planning a 4x4 meter Kursk diorama with 300 tanks, still collecting the kits though!

You know you have to keep your promise? Right? Right?
I have too many channels to keep up with, but I wanted to say how much I enjoy watching you to create these models and vignettes. Spectacular work.
I challenge you to use pigments on your next model, see what is possible. Nice scenery for the tank, too.
But why when enamels are better? :) Besides I used them on the BMR-3M. Weathering with pigments might be nice for a retro 2005-style build though.

Dear Martin, very inspirational! Love the 'street cred bling!' Looking forward to watching your new project. Please have a good and safe weekend.
Beautiful. If it's just grass that's burnt there should be very little if any ash. That's generally left from woody things burning.
