Seriously you guys are a fantastic team. Real nice watching you fix Bora Bora. I know how difficult that is to put the boat in the water and then have to pull it back up. Believe me, changing those seacocks is the right thing to do. My last boat, a Endeavour 40 sank at her slip due to a bad seacock. Cost me a lot of money and ultimately my boat. Different reason (electrolysis) but still.... I would never use a bronze seacock again after that. Nylon only from now on. And look at all the fun things you found when you took them out! Nice going guys!! As far as Nikki cleaning the holding tank... thats a shitty job !! next boat will have only a composting toilet. No mess, no smell, no leaks, no pumping out, no worry about a fine when your 3 way valve is in the wrong place during a inspection. Sure you have to empty it every month or so, but not that big of a deal. The smile on you guys face once back in the water was pretty sweet. Bora Bora is lucky to have you guys!
Great job Guys . I consider it essential to have full confidence in your boat and that means treating her as you do. The ring looks good too , you really seem to knit together perfectly. Congratulations !
Just remember safety first. Thank God that you find these leaks in harbor, not in the middle of nowwhere. Like your videos, just keep on going. Try to smile about small difficulties. They are a part of sailing.
I feel so sad that you guys had to go through this but I take my hat off to you for overcoming. It's true what they say about boats. B.O.A.T stands for, Bung On Another Thousand. Really pleased you discovered the extent of the rubbish fittings because if a sea cock failed in mid Atlantic you both and the crew could have become a news item.
Same ppl hate that part of sailing.. Same ppl like me love it . It's increase the trust when sailing your boat . Thanks for information and sharing it with us .
Oh maaaan! This will give us nightmares for when we splash, soonish. Such bad luck! But it was also the best spot for that to happen, really 😊 Well done for keeping it together so well guys.
Awesome stuff..... it was all the real pitch in sailing; boat maintenance, prep, investigate, redo, do it again, get it right, grab a hug n kiss, move on, team work, make it happen....... on n on. Great job, great team.......... anxious to folloe you all the way west. 👍
Gotta love a happy ending....... I could really feel your pain over the seacock problem. When I launched my boat last spring, a seacock handle stem snapped when I opened it up. No leaks but no way to close it either. Like you, I made the prudent call to get hauled back out so it could be properly replaced. In the end, the added delay was a very small price to pay for the huge peace of mind it delivered. Thank you for another enjoyable vid!
Stirling effort getting the boat sorted, a lot to get through for the two of you but you know what... In a few years time you`ll look back with affection for those moments, we remember life's challenges and the two of you getting through that and on with your crossing is a beautiful thing. Clearly, you are very close, and though single at the moment, I personally can`t think of anything I would sooner be doing than sharing real life with my soulmate. I`m working my **** off trying to get to where you are, just to be free from the 9-5++. Great to be watching good people do great things, boat good to go, sun shining, fair winds, doesn`t get any better than that! All the very best to you both, looking forward to the next episode muchly! :)
congratulations Nickie and Ben on your wedding... cheer's... always enjoy the saga...Ben,you have mad skills! I am on my 37 ft sloop, dodging storms and surfin' in Baja...continued success you...peace from La Islas Todos Santos, Baja, California, Mexico
I just recently subscribed to your channel. I enjoy it very much. I live in East Texas, am 71 years old, and am happy to see someone doing what they love, like I wished now that I had done. I am impressed with your videos, and their content as well as your mechanical skills! Safe journey!
Mike Malone. Thank you Mike, we appreciate your comment and are glad that you enjoy them. All the best and please keep watching. The next episode will be out as very soon.
Mike Malone. Hi Mike, im not a car mechanic, but have always fixed my own vehicles, i guess i like to save the money and not have to rely on others to get me out of trouble.
Great job done with the gear, and about the seacocks it's not pleasant at all but so much better to have the leak now then in the middle of the ocean!!! And congrats with the wedding. The honeymoon can start :-)
You had that look in your eye for a moment . The what I call a For Sale Sign moment ... lol Glad you worked thru it . Nicely done too I might add . Good luck on the crossing . Oh and Congrats once again .
What a tremendous work ethic. Props to the both of you. Now that you've got me motivated, I'll be pulling all the belts on our engine and wire brushing any rust off the pulleys. I suspect rust is eating the belts. As I'm doing the work I shall be whistling and thinking how much worse things could be. All our sea cocks seem to be holding up.
You were so lucky they failed when they did. Hard to do when the boat is at the bottom of the Atlantic . Key ,never do anything halfassed and in doubt change it out. Glad you splashed successfully
Just subscribed after watching this video looking forward to playing catch up. Good thing you done the seacocks before your crossing, it was the first job I done when I got my boat done them all and replaced the speed log o ring then fitted a Volvo drip less shat gland. It's a pain when jobs are thrust upon you but I bet your glad you done them.
Great job guys, really tests you when things like this happen. Seacocks are a royal pain to replace and access is always rubbish. The one where the hole was too big, wow that was a close call so good find. Blakes seacocks are great if not dezinctified. Always better when they are not painted. Andy UK
Well done. Keep on keepin on and fix each issue as it comes up. You have to agree thr sense of multi circumnavigator, Chris Larsen. His boat has no engine, no electrics, no plumbing. Simple boat = fewer failures = cheap voyaging. Still, a bit too minimalist for me so, like you two, fix it and suck up the expense with a smile everytime you use the heads, sinks and engine! Peace.
If there are two people I'd sail the seven seas with it would be Ben and Nicki. They're knowledgeable without a superior attitude. They're confident but always err on the side of caution. They have their individual skills and compliment each other perfectly. They have a great relationship and, let's face it, they both look good. I've watched every one of their videos and wonder where their future travels will take them.
I will remember that one about the seacocks. The ship was lifted out, chocked up, then got hot in the tropical sun, then deformed the hull such that the seacocks leak??? And you had to change them all??? Something isn't right. Your seacock material is bronze. There is no zinc in it.
look at the bright side . you found the leaks in the harbour not in the middle of the ocean because that would have changed your expectations a bit more I suppose. Happy sailing.
Fantastic video's, love to follow you on and off the water. great knowlegde of the boat and how to handle at fix things. real sailing, great footage, perhaps a rat on the mic outside may help, but neverytheless you make a great couple and stick very nicely to the video. Congrats on the marriage, kids at sea is very much doable. For me as a Dutch sailor Nicky sounds quite sexy saying "was that the propshaft". Keep going and 360k views will get to 1 mio soon !!
chrisaanzee. Hi there and thank you for you comments. I have tried everything to kill the wind noise, but its impossible on our cheap camera, unfortunately we can't afford a better one. So, we try to do all audio stuff in the shelter of the dog house. I will talk to the editor and see if she can do anything to improve things! Thanks for watching and fair winds.
What gear do you use? Maybe I can help out. However I like the 'roughness' of your video's and the story itself does it for me. One of the best sailing channels to look out for, with the potential of becoming the best viewed. Take care! Chris
How did you become so knowledgeable about repairing every system on your boat ? Have you been around sailboats your whole life or just learn on the fly ? It's astonishing how much you know please explain........#1 Fan !
Hey Nickie, next time you get stuck with cleaning the holding tank, use flavored lip gloss, vaseline under the nose to curb the odor. You can put it in the nostril if your not too squeamish. Grads on the bells you two. Love your video’s and the boat.
I just found your channel and subscribed. What a coincidence....I just changed all my sea cocks as well. It is a big job! Nice video. I really enjoyed it.
Likely too late now but if the yard set the pads and the hull is deformed then they should carry liability for the damages. No way should there be square indents in the hull.
Hi, I'm a recent subscriber.... love the videos...... a quick question, who made your stack pack sail cover.... It looks like a two part type I've never seen before. I like the concept! S/V Pandora ..... Petersberg AK
Did you do the sea cocks by the engine.? When you get across think about going south to Argentina and around. If summer(there),think about the edge of Antarctic . There is a guy out of Ushuaia that does regular cruises to Antarctica.. nobody does the amazon and Suriname , maybe for a reason, I don’t know . Would love to see those areas.
Sure they do. While there is some risk, there is risk in cruising anyway. See Sea Change episode 5 for Suriname. One of the BEST UA-cam sailing Vlogs that unfortunately seemed to just ....stop.
Lk M. Hi there and thank you for your comments. No we didn't, in the end they were still serviceable and as much as I wanted too change them then, we just didn't have the money, Argentina! Antarctica! Wow perhaps? Southern Chilli looks like a cruising dream in the summer. Thanks for watching. Fair winds and calm seas.
Hi guys just read your sailingsvborabora.wordpress.com/why-we-are-doing-this/. Heres-to-ya both cheers. For all the same reasons we bought a completely off-grid pub situated on the top of a mountain and what an experience learning the new way to approach life, I get totally where you are heading. We bought a Ketch rig 33ft sail boat a couple of years ago with a view to sailing the Med but can’t quite take the leap. Here’s wishing you every success crossing the pond. Haste ye back, safe.
Are you a car mechanic or do you have some engineering background or something?? You basically took the entire engine apart to repair it... pretty unbelievable...
Leaking Seacocks would be a wonderful band name. Congrats on the wedding, and thank you for these amazing videos!
Well done to you both for maintaining sanity during the surprise repairs. Like you said, everything happens for a reason!
What a good-looking, intelligent, and skillful couple you are. Kudos on all the DIY lessons.

You guys are great and the videos are getting better and better. They are really authentic and show how hard you both work. Good luck with everything.
Great job Guys . I consider it essential to have full confidence in your boat and that means treating her as you do. The ring looks good too , you really seem to knit together perfectly. Congratulations !

By far my favourite thing to watch!! Glad launch take 2 went well, and belated congratulations to you both!!

This episode is Gold. What a fantastic Team you two make. Thanks.
Mad boatjobs, dispite the setbacks well done and great to watch & learn. Nice cliff hanger at the end, looking forward to your next episode.
All the best. Old seacocks are a nightmare. But you seem to know what you're doing.

What type of work can you guys do for a few months in the U.K.?
Happy your back. Binge watching.

Did u guys tie the knot yet? Two great people a pleasure to watch.
Silky Jones Not paying attention are you.... Start the video Right from the beginning and listen carefully.
Thar's a reason I plug every thruhull leaving 1 in, 1 out with manifolds and pipe to deliver it where reqd.
I just found your channel and subscribed. What a coincidence....I just changed all my sea cocks as well. It is a big job! Nice video. I really enjoyed it.
Wasnt there a wedding somewhere in between? Congratz on gettin hitched. Hitched on the hook now for sure :)
Excellent..thumbs up! ⛵⛵🍺🍺
Actually a surprisingly well put together video, I think you guys maybe are up to something here.. :)
Wow... well done guys!
thanks,, I needed a reminder why I never want another boat
Great episode
Likely too late now but if the yard set the pads and the hull is deformed then they should carry liability for the damages. No way should there be square indents in the hull.
Really interesting seeing how you fix things on the boat - might need to do the same on my own boat. What sealant did you use on the seacocks?
Daangs hey there, we used Sikaflex 291i
Good luck
that girl is a big help.

RE SEA CHANGE: Agreed!! Too bad they disappeared off the face of the earth... Amazing cinematography...
Vanskelig å se noe på grunn av shiny rings :-)
What about the pipe you guys taped... was it replaces with a new one, and positioned so that there was no more interference and rubbing?
What is a two gallon holding tank used for? Seems really small.
Guys : from where did you get that huge propshaft? Does it need such a huge cross-section? What's the motor? 1000 hp ???
my wife wont even get on my trailor sailor for a quick sail on the bay
better one week in yard than on the bottom of the sea ;)
Veleiro Reencontro ,,Brasil ,,,, cambio
