I’m going to say this right now. I just clicked on this video. I’m 100 percent loving it. The story that nobody knows… what an incredible and awesome way to put it. I love it!!!
Gosh, what memories this brings back. I used to throw old wooden skipjacks, river runts and devils horses back in the 70's. Lived in Shreveport so like yall, I had access to a lottttt of great fishing holes. Last time I fished Lake Fork was in 1987. Best day of fishin I EVER HAD!
justin, i saw the title of this vid and before clicking i ponder for a moment about whats going to happen to my dads fishing tackle when he passes, and when your pops mentioned sorting his out with you and ben it hit me right in the feels ❤❤ thanks for sharing these memories with us
My Grandfather had arthritis in both wrists so we trolled Douglas Lake in East TN. He had about every color of BOMBER and HELLBENDER. He had single and DBL prop Skip Jacks for top water. Rattle Traps, Thin Fins in all the colors. We had hours to talk about everything while trolling. Bass, Crappie and Saugers and a Walleye or 2. He was an Alcoholic when my Dad was young, got sober after I was born. He lost time with Dad, made up for it with me.
Love seeing you and your dad out together! Enjoy every second of it Justin! I’d love to have both of y’all out for some duck, goose, and crane hunting.
Great line, “That thing is as stiff as a canoe.” It would be cool to have a video on antique baits or even a Googan Lab series on antique baits and how they have evolved.
I'm a Bomber lure collector. I have several hundred of the old wood Bomber baits. They definitely will still catch fish. Back in the day, Bomber held quite a few records, including the world record small mouth bass from Dale Hollow lake, a white 600 size model if I remenber correctly. Good luck, I enjoyed this. Thanks, John
This is probably one of my favorite top ten lures. Caught so many bass and northern pike with this lure as it looks like a real fish. This is a must in every Boundary Waters Trip.
I inherited my families fishing gear, since I'm the last avid angler in our family (working on my wife and daughters). One of my favorite rods is a 1973 GarciaConolon fast-action medium rod. I have a bunch of modern setups but the GarciaConolon rod was my mom's walleye rod when she was about 10 and it has a great feel to it. Also have a bunch of old Rapala lures that I think are balsa wood, old Arbogast jitterbugs and these half duck lookin crank/swim baits. Some of that stuff doesn't get used as much as typical texas/ned rigs, Googan Bangers, Yo-zuri poppers etc etc. But they all work all as good as one another
My family has been going up to kabetogama (flows into rainy) for over 70 years myself 25... but man i love it up there going back up in just a few days for a week looking forward to crushing some fish brother sick videos cant wait to see more, and thanks for scratching my itch with the north woods fishing 🤘🏼
I was lucky to get my grandpa's creek chub from the 50s. Was in Canada casting for pike. Wam 5 feet from the boat a 23 pound northern Pike slammed it. Thanks grandpa.
@LakeForkGuy on your way back south if you passed through Albany NY hit up Rensselaer county there's about 20 different lakes you can choose from an a little further drive north is lake George. Although just caught my pb @6.37 lbs at Burden lake
Great vid. First of yours I've seen, so hit sub. Been soaking bait and tossing lures over 60 and have stuff I use from the 20s through the 80s. I even have a few from the 1800s. Not just lures; I have my old poles from as far back as the 50s like my Pflueger Rocket No 1955 on the South Bend rod. While very little is set aside as novelty and collector pieces, I still use over 90 % fishing. Nine tackle boxes, a six drawer dresser full of lures and terminal tackle to go with my 18 rods. Mostly Penn, Abu Garcia, and Mitchell for both salt and fresh. Us old farts got all the cool stuff LOL
Im decorating my house fisherman cottage style and i was looking into these they are beautiful ❤️ and started looking into the history / folklore of fisherman and vintgae tools they used but sadly cant find much .
Hi LFG ,LFD and friend, my friend down south hunts for antique fishing lures at tag sales . She hangs them on there own Christmas Tree. Kinda cool! Enjoy your Trip Guys ! JO JO IN VT 💞
I caught my first top water bass on the lure second from the left in your thumbnail when i was just a boy. I dont remember what it was called. I just remember that it was a great lure. Thanks for a sweet memory
Caught fish on lots of wooden lures that’s what I had as a kid and a steel rod and old reel also cork bobber’s wish I would have kept them now that I’m old also they were painted with lead paint
True competition nobody helps the guy in last place grab the net, in truth I won’t help if I had a choice between fishing and cleaning toilets. Great video

You should do a video of LFD's antique baits. Show us his collection and maybe tell us how he found them.
That would be amazing
Great idea !!
I would definitely watch that
Cool video fishing with antique Lures

Love all the videos with LFD 👊🏼And all the 🔥🔥🔥content from LFG!!!
I’ve got my wife’s dad’s old lures on some old drift wood. Hanging in our screened in porch at Rayburn Country. Has a plaque with it as well.
Love seeing you and your dad out together! Enjoy every second of it Justin!

Great series! Thoroughly enjoyed these LFG!
Thanks for getting me Cranked Up. Leaving for Lake of The Woods on Friday! My kids look forward to Christmas like I look forward to L.O.W.

I think it would be cool if googan makes more pike / muskie lures
I’d like to see them collab with addicted fishing and do some trout stuff too. Where I live trout fishing is about as big as bass fishing I’d say.
I was lucky to get my grandpa's creek chub from the 50s. Was in Canada casting for pike. Wam 5 feet from the boat a 23 pound northern Pike slammed it. Thanks grandpa.
Amazing series with the fam and friends🎣💪
One of them, 1:46 ...looks like a Duracell battery with hook hanging off of it.
Bring that challenge a lot further south and change from hard baits to soft Grubbs, hard to beat old school plastics.
I have some crazy antiques that he would love to see. My dad bought them years ago. Some really wierd banana bias are some of the weirdest.
This has inspired me to do an annual son/dad fishing trip somewhere cool with my dad.

Great video! Is your dad wearing an Alabama hat? If so, Roll Tide!
RTR!
Catch a lot of walleye on bombers in SW Oklahoma, I love Rapala cranks also
Solid trip, bro.
A fun series!
My home town in Garrett Indiana is where Creek chub bates were maid my grandmother worked there and painted the Bates

This vid was awesome....up to the point you let my walleye go!
Im digging that baitcaster rod and reel you were using. I can see it's a Googan Squad rod, but what reel is that? I need to catch up on the GS merch!

Lfg I’m a big Googan fan why don’t Googan have kids sizes in shirts and shorts
I caught my first top water bass on the lure second from the left in your thumbnail when i was just a boy. I dont remember what it was called. I just remember that it was a great lure. Thanks for a sweet memory
Cool video idea
What you called a Gay Blade is actually a Silver Buddy LFG. The Silver Buddy is my main Walleye bait here in Tennessee.
That bomber is what Mr Hayes caught the world record smallmouth on
Mantap castingnya boskuu
I remember those bombers like it was yesterday, never caught anything on them tho.....
Still can’t believe Andrew Zimmern is your dad. Wild
I'm 40 and consider myself a very capable naturalist but I had no idea being from Texas, that loons were the cormorants (water Turkey) of Canadia.
My dad used to throw bombers and Hellbenders and just wear them Bass out. Throw in a Johnson silver spoon and they never stood a chance
00:17 what is the name of the rod
It’s right behind LFG’s dad!! I think it’s a tiny ufo 😮
Caught fish on lots of wooden lures that’s what I had as a kid and a steel rod and old reel also cork bobber’s wish I would have kept them now that I’m old also they were painted with lead paint
Does anyone see the flying object go past???? I think it’s a bird but so fast idk 🤷 it’s at 3:04-3:05
Where are y’all fishing?
This was my favorite video lol
As Ricky Bobby once said “If you’re not first, you’re last” 😆
They sure will,, it give the fish something new to go after,, well that’s what I think,, I’ll stay tuned to find out
If you really want to know how good we have it these days, try using an antique rod and reel and line, if you can find them!
I wish I woulda stopped and said something when I seen you I wasn't sure and hesitated for to long lol
Go fly fishing for pike plz!🪰🐟🎣
True competition nobody helps the guy in last place grab the net, in truth I won’t help if I had a choice between fishing and cleaning toilets. Great video
Nice
The answer is yes they do i still use old lures.
Cool
❤
This video is so cool for so many reasons!!🤌🏾
👍🤙
"These lures suck."
It seemed like the lures worked, but the hooks were awful.
I totally saw some dookie in the toilet
Just sell the yellow line already
😜
