80" J Class clips 07.07.24

Some short clips of this magnificent 80" J class yacht on the water with two 60" little sisters at Watermead lake Aylesebury. Alan Horne gave me a bit of history: "Charles's (80') boat is plank on frame built by him I think in the 1980s. He acquired a set of plans for a smaller model and scaled them up, it's a nice piece of work.
A scale J doesn't work on the water so he's lowered the C of G by adding a drop keel made from 6mm solid brass and lead.
He's tried to be as faithful as possible to the original so he's used running backstays and quadralateral jibs. It's a complex set up using lots of hitec winches but it looks good on the water!"

Wonderful video. Really loved the Chase Boat video, too. Great addition. I'm just a little disappointed that you didn't splice in some drone video. That would have completed the coverage in professional sportscaster style!

Thank you, loads of "boat" and camera problems robbed me of loads of good stuff : ( However this young lad below did take some drone footage and is going to edit more.
