I love watching you as I crochet! Honestly,I find that these "how much can i crochet" are super nice to follow along, but as a PT, I love that you're respectful of your body and your limits. Repetitive motions are not nice on our bodies. Don't forget to stretch, mobilize, and strengthen your body, even more so, your hands/arms and your back!
I have been crocheting for about a year and a half now and I've been dealing with wrist pain for a few months now. It's so frustrating having to take things slow, especially when I see all the crochet youtubers getting so much done in a day, so you being so honest about your experience with wrist pain helps me a lot in accepting that I just have to stop and rest sometimes, so thank you!
Listen, it’s not a fail! First of all, just GETTING a video from you is a win and second, the question was “how many pumpkins can you crochet”, not “can I crochet 100 pumpkins”!! You very successfully answered the question, it just wasn’t as many as you hoped! You’re amazing, thank you for doing this for us!!
Awh … YOU are so amazing. Thank you so much for this sweet message and thank you for your support! It means the world to me. This is a great perspective to have on it and so thank you for being so kind and understanding ❤
I have nerve damage from the repetition of crochet. Especially my neck so yes listen to what your body tells you. I’m 70 been crocheting for many years and it does catch up with you. Love your channel and your work!
Hi, I am really enjoying your UA-cam channel, and wanted to comment that in my regular work (LMT) I am constantly using my fingers, wrist and, forearms. One of the things that really helps me, is between clients, and also when I am working on crocheting projects, I run the coldest water possible over my fingers, hands, wrist, and forearms for 3 to 5 minutes. Sometimes, at the end of a workday I will also take time to ice my wrist and arms for 5 to 10 minutes. The repetitive stress of the work that I do, as well as the repetitive stress, crochet all the time, creates a lot of inflammation in these areas. The cold helps to reduce it and calm things down. That, in turn, helps to prevent injury and pain Perhaps incorporating this practice, along with the stretches and exercises you’ve been doing, may help. Definitely listen to your pain, and let your body recover. You are a very talented individual and I truly appreciate the work you do and your wonderful energy and how you share your creative process and spirit🥰
I was experiencing severe wrist and forearm pain a couple months ago as well. It was hard cuz I love crocheting, but I did take nearly a week off of crocheting altogether. And I also learned to slow down a little while working on projects cuz I have come to realize I tend to crochet really fast when I get in a groove. Now I have learned my lesson to just take it easy ❤ Also, not a fail! I love the pumpkins! So cute! 🎃
Aww please don't feel bad for not continuing! You're only human and I'm glad you listened to your body rather than continue for a video, I appreciate you being authentic with us (I'm new here and I love watching your videos while I crochet!) I'm also fairly new to crochet and just got out of a crochet slump, and sometimes my hands cramp too! I don't think you failed at all, I still really appreciate the video!
Your video was definitely not a flop! I love all your videos. You need to take care of your wrists and rest them, that comes first. Your tank top turned out beautiful and your tapestry pattern. Amazing! Take care, looking forward to your next video.❤
We all have to deal with progress vs. health & joy in crocheting. It's just reality. Thank you for being authentic.🩷 I also had to stop because that yarn made my wrist hurt. Only 1 pumpkin this week.
No worries in stopping when you need to stop! Health always comes first, mental and physical! I just sent you my squares this past weekend, I’m so excited. Also the tapestry is adorable! I love the goosebumps sweater as well!💖💖
Take care and listen to your body. Rest when you need to ❤. I LOVE the tapestry pattern!!! I went right over and purchased it. Because of you I tried my first tapestry piece a few weeks ago (7 colors!) and I did it!! I just started crocheting January 1st and I’ve started my own channel. I love watching your videos and hanging out with you. Rest you arm- Patricia 💖
SEVEN COLORS?! You’re a rockstar!! I’m so proud of you and sooooo glad you found a form of crochet you love so much. That brings me so much joy!!you’re so sweet, Thank you so much for your support!! I hope you love it!🧶🖤🐈⬛
Def listen to your body! It may not be seen as this but crochet can be physical in this way so letting muscles and other body parts rest is so important! Very much appreciate the realistic update especially as someone who has chronic wrist/arm pain and deals with the 'push through it' mentality
I love your videos and I think you answered your question perfectly. Life happens and I'm dealing with the same wrist pain right now too and I felt bad for a few days about not prepping but it's better to rest then keep pushing through and giving yourself a permanent injury. I hope your wrist feels better 😊
I know exactly what you mean by the fire ant feeling! It's so important to listen to your body and I'm glad you talked about it here so others can hear it too. You've made a great start on the pumpkins, and they'll still be there when you're able to get back to them! I started taking knitting classes this weekend, so I've been working on the sampler scarf pattern that they gave us. I've been able to pick up knitting really quickly and I'm so excited for the new projects I'll be able to do!
You’re so kind. Thank you so much. Im sorry you can relate! And oh wow! How exciting!! Keep me updated on the scarf and knitting in general! I love knitting so much, so peaceful 😊❤
I love and appreciate the honesty so much! You're amazing and you've still got time. What you've already done is of excellent quality so you're already crushing it! The tank came out AMAZING and will be such a great staple for the wardrobe and your little pumkpin man gave me a giggle on the couch behind you at the end 😂❤
STOP THAT IS SO COOL!!! Oh that makes me so happy!! Thank you so much for your support!! I hope you love it!🧶🖤🐈⬛ tag me if you make it I have to see the teeth!!
This is the cutest pattern. This will be my first tapestry. I been crocheting for 15 years so I’m going to finally brave a tapestry. It’s too cute 🧡🧶🐈⬛
Glad you took a break when you noticed your arm hurt. The feeling in your arm, I've experienced before too! In my experience, it's from keeping my elbow bent for long periods of time/repetitive movements. To make it go away, I would keep my arm straight whenever I could and rest from whatever I was doing that kept my arm bent for so long. It's basically tennis elbow only not caused by tennis. I've gotten it from gaming/working too long on my PC for several days in a row. My guess is crochet is what's causing yours. It's a good reminder for all of us crocheters to take breaks, stretch our muscles, etc!
How interesting.. well that certainly makes ALOT of sense I’ll absolutely do my stretching more and be conscious of my elbow bending!! Thank you so much that is really helpful!
Definitely gotta listen to your body and take breaks when needed. I was having the same issue a few months ago and one of my friends suggested I get a boppy pillow so my elbows had support when I crochet. Its been a game changer. It helps my posture too.
I have definitely heard about that and might have to seriously consider giving it a try thank you for letting me know it’s worked for you and so glad to hear it’s helped you out!!❤
I can't crochet with super bulky yarn any more, it makes my wrist and forearm hurt so much. Thank you for taking a break and telling us about it! Setting that example makes it easier for all of us to listen to our bodies. When I spend a day or two in a wrist brace, I bounce right back, so I'm hoping a little bit of rest helps you get back to your crochet career!
I think I’m in the same boat there ! And awh im so glad to hear that it helps. That makes me so happy. Maybe I’ll have to try a brace! Thank you so much ❤
I admire you for posting this real life situation with your wrist and arms. Somebody needed to hear to listen to your body and back off a little sometimes. You did an awesome job with your tapestry pattern. Have a great day ❤️
Thank you so much. I do hope if someone needed to hear this today, it was helpful. I’m so glad you liked the piece. That makes me soooo happy! Have a wonderful week❤
Hi Dana! Always best to listen to your body. Good girl. I am suffering pain with making the pumpkins also. Elbow, thumb and first finger hurt terribly. I am market prepping, so have many irons in the fire. Right this minute I am working on Camryn's beanie pattern. Making several hats. Also worked on a couple of ghosts earlier today. Waiting on more pumpkins until my hand and elbow feel a little better. I hope you've had a great day friend! 😊🥰
Oh gosh Connie you’re always so busy!! I wish you a very successful upcoming market season here!! I hope you’re being kind to your elbow , thumb and wrist as well!
