Restoring a totaled car will hardly ever be very profitable when counting your own hours, but it is an amazing way to get familiar working on the car and it can be satisfying to see it going from it's totaled state to looking pristine again
Hi Steve, 1st time viewer, UA-cam inboxed me this video. I loaded up UA-cam to watch Episode 30 of Project Binky, and your video style reminds me of those great chaps at Bad Obsession, and just look how far they’ve come just sticking with the one project (ignoring the Escargot). I watch an awful lot of car/tech/DIY videos, and it’s great to see a skilled British UA-camr do what I think a lot of British viewers have wanted for a while. Great step by step instructions, demystifying the mechanics processes so giving us the confidence that we too could start tackling our own little projects. Absolutely brilliant video, looking forward to watching your playlists, and I wish you the best of luck in gaining more popularity. Well done 👍🏻
Well done mate u have done a great job again I also bought cars in the past put them back on the road with new m.o.t we love ur videos keep them coming phil from stoke on trent
looking forward to the new vids Steve. your vids keep me sane, while I am working away. makes me homesick to get my spanners out, keep up the good work. ,
It's been a great series of videos Steve, and I've enjoyed watching them all. In addition I'm looking forward to the next projects, as well as seeing more stuff on the track Fiesta, thanks for filming the videos and sharing them with us all.
Keep the rebuid videos coming steve really enjoy watching your videos fella. Its not always about the end profit if you enjoy doing the work to get them back on the road. Ben in ammanford
Hi Steve, just binged the ono series - great vids and looked a quality repair. Please keep em comin! 👍 Quick question though pls, were there any tracking/alignment issues after the repair or was that side of it straightforward?
Should have said too, I'm looking at doing my first suspension damaged repair. Just curious if any pro's who've watched this would say you were lucky to have had a straight subframe or whether it's rare that they get out if shape? Just sub'd too btw! 👍👌
I think you have the right recipe if its going to be a hobby, buy it, fix it drive it a bit and then sell for a profit. The rest of us just buy cars and watch them depreciate ! Ideally fix the next car before you sell the one before though.
Absolutely amazing what you did with the car! And making profit!! I wouldn't have a clue where to start on the car haha 😂 I'll be getting in touch if I need a hand 😉
Sad to see you having to sell after what happened. But at least you took a profit and have now got another couple of projects on the line. Hope they’re fords! Mines been on the road for a month now and without your videos I would have never have took the risk and bought one through copart!
Steve. Looking forward to your next project... car....whatever. You more than earned that £600 profit. The buyer has got a fab cheap car...with online Service History!!!!!
IMHO that car was too heavily damaged to expect to have made much of a profit. Great that you used the car for a year and made ~£600 but I would shoot for more simple repairs next time.
What can I say, just saw your video and you have got skills for sure. Even the can spray paint. I wonder how much it would cost if it was done privately ( just curious). Keep going and wish you a lot of success.
Wow that guy got himself a very cheap 30-40k mile 14 plate Fiesta St, most the ones I could find with that mileage started at 6k, and a lot weren’t even repaired to your stand. You did a really good job with that car, and I am glad you got some money and experience out of it for your next project. Plus hopefully some income from UA-cam too.
great videos with the fiesta i think i definitely like the stock look of the fiesta st brilliant cars i own one on a 17 plate same colour i love it. i'd love to see a honda or maybe an older vw or volkswagon say a mk5 or mk6 golf gti or even an R or a ep3 civic type r. cant wait to see the new ones.
I’m surprised you sold it after all the work you put into it Steve, but a 4 door will probably be better for your wife and kids, looking forward to seeing what you got coming next, good to see the uploads coming again
That was a bargain for the buyer. There is a cat s fiesta st going in the copart near me thinking of having a bid on it. Looks like it has been tuned a bit to
I think you made the right decision, ST's are a liability... not if... but when will it get stolen, unless you spend hundreds of pounds trying to secure it, and even then if they cant get it they will trash it for you... get the wife something non sporty. Btw great to see you putting some content on your channel again :)
the ones you do for yourself to have as daily drivers i dont really count as profit cars as the profit is useability by yourself but £600 is fine .as to wishing they had stole it you dont i had a repaired car outside my home furniture delivery lorry went beep beep beep crunch flattened the front end insurance nightmare two years of fighting for every penny they dont like paying out twice they just like taking your money
I’m a panel beater to trade and have been repairing write offs on an off for the past 20 years and what a lot of folk don’t realise is that (when repaired) a recorded write off is worth about a third less compared to a straight one, so you’ve got to be getting the car and parts for next to nowt to make it worth while. There’s so many folk on UA-cam who end up spending more buying and repairing a write off than it would be to by a straight one, and in real terms they have made a significant loss. I recently watched another UA-camr make a right arse of repairing a fiesta ST, he was a mile out of his depth and his “welding” was appalling and he ended up having to get a pro to bail him out. However you done yours to a decent and safe standard and essentially got a years depreciation free motoring and a slight profit to take onto the next one. 👍🏻
Anything less than 15 pounds an hour for labour is a waste of time. Electricity, telephone charges, odd materials like soaps, polishes, cleaners. Don’t mention rents and rates, tools and similar. Anything less than 10% return on your money invested is bad business. Does the tax man now want 20 % too. Been there done that. Buy and sell cheap houses instead !.
True but I never bought it as an investment or for profit. It was just a cheaper way of getting a fiesta st for the wife rather than paying 8k. I'm not sure how many hours I had In the car but I bet I'd have less than minimum wage in the profit though. But a yrs motoring for free isn't so bad.
Spark Plug Steve As long as you are happy Steve. I did similar work for a living, self employed with two paid staff. It was a nightmare to stay in profit. It is the hidden costs that bite into what appears to be profit, just replacing tools which wear out, break, become necessary for a different model and so on. What finally finished me was having to pay sick pay when any one of the staff was ill and the vast increase in business rates. At one period I had two staff ill, paying them several hundred pounds per week and unable to take on the work to cover the costs. But you are happy with what you did and that is all that matters. Because you have done several vehicles and plan more I wrongly assumed yo were trying to make a profit. Wasn’t clear why you sold the car you did for your wife though, have you replaced the car now for her ?. Enjoy your videos, you do a good repair job.
@Josh are you abit slow? After buying it, repairing it , using it for a year he still made £600 profit is not bad at all. Try to finance one for a year would still be about £2500 so deduct that from the cost of the car as well. I'd say he made more than £600 in terms of use. Mate you need to wake up or else you'll be left behind! Could call it a free drive for a year? Whatever, it was a good deal at both ends.
@Josh also I will say that if he was doing it for purely profit then obviously 3 months work on and off for £600 is shitty but better than a kick up the arse. But if that was the case he could turo it or something and easily make money from that and then sell the car after.
Free motoring for a year cant knock that , and you turned a profit on your hobby , look forward to your next project .

Thanks. But no none of them are ford's. And none of them are sporty or fast unfortunately.
Spark Plug Steve oh well! Still looking forward to some new content! Will you be attending any shows in the st this year?
Steve. Looking forward to your next project... car....whatever. You more than earned that £600 profit. The buyer has got a fab cheap car...with online Service History!!!!!
Very interesting and informative video 👍👍
IMHO that car was too heavily damaged to expect to have made much of a profit. Great that you used the car for a year and made ~£600 but I would shoot for more simple repairs next time.
How did you fit the side skirt ?

Iv done a Honda ep3 series.
ahhhhh yes! my bad I'm a fairly new subscriber watching the fiesta videos. what about another one? =D
I’m surprised you sold it after all the work you put into it Steve, but a 4 door will probably be better for your wife and kids, looking forward to seeing what you got coming next, good to see the uploads coming again
Can’t wait to start hearing that “hello youtubeee’ and then get into fixing another car up I’ve missed it 👍🏻👌🏻
have you tried the st line ecoboost fiestas? pretty quick and economical for what they are .
Great work/ video👍🏻. How much would u hv charge for all ur labour on the project ?
Iv never done it as a business so no idea. I only. Work on my. Own cars or family so always unpaid work.
U should try but mk8 Ford Fiesta st crash
Made 700 but also got to use a car for a year with zero depreciation
Hope the two new ones will be easy projects for you
Good video great cars the ford fiestas 😀
Have a look at ASM salvage, less costs in terms of fees. Cars for Paul used them before.
Yeh I saw that video before. I'd forgot the name of the company though so thanks for the reminder.
Thanks Steve I can’t wait for the new car 🚘 👍🏼
Looking forward to seeing the new car videos!!.
Judging by your profile pic you might like one of them 😉
Spark Plug Steve if it’s what I think it could be, I won’t like it, I will love it, I’m a fanatical Škoda enthusiast!!.
It's not sporty but it's small and economical. Guessed it yet?
Spark Plug Steve I’m guessing a Citigo, or maybe a Fabia?.
Yes it's a citigo.
That was a bargain for the buyer. There is a cat s fiesta st going in the copart near me thinking of having a bid on it. Looks like it has been tuned a bit to
Keep up the good work Steve
Shame to see her go and a good price for the new owner. Looking forward to the new content. Just ordered a fast and old T-shirt of you😉
Thanks a million. 👍
Still a catagorised repaired vehicle that can't be valued at full money, don't think you did badly.
I think you made the right decision, ST's are a liability... not if... but when will it get stolen, unless you spend hundreds of pounds trying to secure it, and even then if they cant get it they will trash it for you... get the wife something non sporty. Btw great to see you putting some content on your channel again :)
You should buy more cars from copart and sell them on would make awesome content and could be a tidy earner for you from UA-cam.
Where is you get the spray paint? Looked a really good match.
Local autoparts shop
Top video thanks for sharing
It's nice if you can turn a bit of profit from a hobby Steve. Cliff hanger on what you've bought this time! 👍
When you buy cars from copart do you put the logbook in your name/add another owner ?
Yes all been in my name as iv always bought for personal use.
Sorry to see ONO go but onwards and upwards 👍
Not a lot for the work but if you enjoyed it it doesn’t matter
I just sold mine after 5+years of ownership, quite gutted now tbh 🤣
I got 99 problems but a st ain't 1! 😂
Steve, you need a bit more space lad, I wish you the very best from Ireland !!
£5150 is extremely cheap! Very lucky customer
the ones you do for yourself to have as daily drivers i dont really count as profit cars as the profit is useability by yourself but £600 is fine .as to wishing they had stole it you dont i had a repaired car outside my home furniture delivery lorry went beep beep beep crunch flattened the front end insurance nightmare two years of fighting for every penny they dont like paying out twice they just like taking your money
Can you just buy cars from copart In the UK without a license? Always wanted to give it a go but could never find a definite answer online?
Yes, go to Copart website, give them your details and £60.00 and away you go......
Josh what
Josh you literally have no ideas who you commenting back to to be able to say that😂 comment makes no sense what so ever
Not bad, I'm not really a Ford fan as I went off the brand when they stopped making Capri's.
Long memory?
@@paulwhite8024 Yep.
Glad You Didn't sell the track car. phew 😜
I did worse Steve on a do up sym moped spent ages on it and only made 50 pounds profit. I guess it's Win some lose some
What's with the farts at the end! lol
Thst car made your channel... Must have made a bit in ad revenue too
Wrong car. That was my first crashed fiesta that launched the channel. This car didn't do so well as it was just a repeat of the first one.
Not exactly Ivor The Engine ....
Is it!
New Sub Here Mate.
Baz.
Hi baz thanks.

Thank you. Yes i know the car your taking about. The prices some go at auction is madness.
😂 I know exactly who you’re talking about.
Yes there is too many unskilled people trying to repair damaged cars on UA-cam at the moment.Yours are repaired properly
Welsh youtube that's pretty rare tbh has your home been flooded
Thankfully we're OK but I know a fair few who have been flooded locally.

Mmm not that bad. 😁
You grafted for 600 quid Steve.
You didnt take into account of your UA-cam revenue?
Well I have I just haven't shared that detail. 😊
of course he made profit ..... it's an SPS special!
get a mk2 focus st
Definitely wasn't worth it. Terrible ROI, given the amount of work required :( .
or 1 years motoring for £600... profit is profit.
Hope it's not another renault traffic...
Still guna watch it like.. but hope it's not 😂
Should have told him £5150 ONO 😂 Nice profit after having it a year!

its snowing in
your room !!!
Haha. Does look like it. Sun was showing up the dust flying around.
I'd rather spend the extra, wouldn't risk buying a bodged write off.
