I can't believe I found this theory. The community has been avoiding the obvious for a long time. The Crying Child has always been Sans and they just won't accept it.
I think one of the funniest things that also comes out of this is if you look at the Crying Child's entry in the Character Encyclopedia his name is listed as "The Crying Child", and unlike Burntrap and what we used to call the Blob's entrees, he doesn't have a disclaimer saying that his name "The Crying Child" isn't cannon; ya' know implying that is his cannon name. So really one of 4 things probably happened: 1, "The Crying Child" could just be some sorta nickname he picked up, 2 Crying Child was never supposed to have a name to begin with, 3 William didn't want his son to be happy so he though "The Crying Child" was a funny name, or 4 we are all just so stupid we never actually found his name and Scott just gave up and deleted his name from existence.
A comment from Scott 4 years ago: "I don't know anything about the fanbases not getting along, but I'm a big fan of Toby Fox. His music is amazing, and both of my older sons were obsessed with Undertale for a long time!" His two main beta testers were obsessed with Undertale for a long time by 2019. So it's not just the recent comment from about a month ago. Sans Afton even more CONFIRMED!
Sans is actually older than Papyrus, but other than that, the similarities are honestly really funny. Until we get a legitimate confirmation, this is my new headcanon.
Without really knowing the "EVAN" logic, the fact that it's a four-letter name and that no one could ever easily explain how they found it (let alone show it being confirmed) was always kinda suss. Like, the shorter a string of characters is, the easier it is for them to come up by coincidence. So if someone wanted to encode them, they'd either need a really solid method for finding them; or they'd need to have them come up repeatedly, to affirm that it's intentional (or, more ideally, both). We always do run into the problem of "Okay, but what if the puzzle is also sloppily designed", but with Scott so often saying that he will clarify things in following games... I just wonder why people think the games have never confirmed this if it's actually meant to be true.
That is kind of the thing - that it doesn't matter. tbh given how Scott deals with these things, even if his name turns out to be Cassidy or something, it's like... okay, but does that mean he's *that* Cassidy, or are we just farting around again?
To my knowledge, the "Chris" name spawned from tumblr fanart and comics. I believe it's supposed to be a play on the word, well, "cry". The fan name spread like wildfire, and even tricked a part of the fanbase into thinking it was his actual name.
It's like when one part of fanbase came up with the name Winston for a purple guy and for some time it was used to name the character, untill the book came out and we got William
Finally, someone understands my theory! But, in all seriousness, I think that a possible contender for CC's real name is Dave. Evan. Change the N to a D and you get Evad, which is Dave backwards. William used Dave Miller as a fake name, which he might have done in honor of his lost son.
I feel like a good part of the fnaf community wouldn't get satire. I'm glad the sans thing was a bit and you are pointing out the holes with whole logbook name shenanigans.
lol. You know, I've been playing with the idea of creating a satirical fnaf theory channel for awhile, disguised as a real fnaf theory channel, to see how far I could push it before being found out.
I can't believe the Crying Child is Sans, Toby Fox must've been working with Scott this whole time. This will truly effect FNAF Lore for the rest of eternity.
I almost made this point in one of the drafts, but that was when my Mic was shorting out and so I forgot it wasn’t in the final video until it was done and I had nowhere to put it.
I love how this a big ol’ smack to the FNAF lore showing how everything can easily be proven/disproven and that the child’s name could be chad afton for all we know

I've given up trying to find an actual name 💀🤚🤚 I just go with "wasd" because that's what the first FNaF 4 minigame showed, so what if it's a tutorial on how to move? it's the closest canon thing we have
In a book of FNAF there is a speech of Jeremy Fritzjerald after FNAF 2 and It reveals that he isn't the BV of 87, but idk, i dont remember what book is xd
Eva ibbotson the beasts of clawstone castle features a character that looks extremely close to sans. I guess that must mean the bite victim is actually a novel character turned to game character like his dad.
I do think that the Evan connection in the Fazbear Frights book actually is very good evidence that the Crying Child's name, at least at that point in time, was intended to be Evan, especially given that the name had already been discovered by the community years ago, it was probably an easter egg meant to confirm it. Also I do think it's possible the puzzle in the Security Logbook was meant to yield Evan and it was just messed up. It makes too much sense for the logbook to be intended to reveal the Crying Child's name.
I’m pretty sure the name wasn’t discovered years before Fright’s book. If I remember correctly it was discovered and then because of the book shortly after it was considered confirmed unless I’m mixing up dates in my head. Not to mention it only works under parallel theories, and the problem with that is under parallels Andrew is Cassidy and Jake is BV. So shouldn’t his name be Jake if anything? Why would it be his dad’s name? Also Andrew has a different name from Cassidy so why would the BV’s parallel’s dad’s name be the same as the BV’s? And then. There’s stitchline games which this doesn’t work with at all.
@@siresquawks >So shouldn’t his name be Jake if anything? Why would it be his dad’s name? Ahem. Timejutsu(tm). Clearly, CC fell in a Magic Ballpit, and it did Ball Pit Things to him.
EVA is a reference to Neon Genesis Evangelion: the Crying Child's tormented by (the actions of) his father, we never see his mother and she very likely got cloned (Ballora), they both get betrayed by older people whom they trusted, and they're both constantly miserable, the CC's name is clearly Shinji Ikari
6:25 They weren't counting it by individual color, but by how they were grouped in the image/layout. One balloon, then five, then 3, then 2, then 2, then 3.
It would make the narrative so much simpler if Bite Victim was Cassidy. Like, not the two souls idea; just literally the child who cried too much and the one you should not have killed just being the same person. Fan-theory / Fanfic-ish wise the one opening I do see for it is if Afton pulled the plug on his own son. In FNAF4, Crying Child / Bite Victim flatlines in the hospital. Did he really eventually die, or did his father consent to removing life-support? Is the line; "I will put you back together" a f***'ed up father standing there as the lines are pulled, with the intention of taking his dead son down to the bunker to do a bit of Dreadbear necromancy? The spirit not dying with vengeance, but becoming vengeful over time as it's not allowed to rest / pass on, but is instead kept.
I concur. Cassidy is gender neutral and just means 'curly hair' anyway. And William 'putting him back together' could mean many things and none of them are pleasant.
Between all the evidence in this vid, and the fact that Scott literally named MatPat’s character in the movie Ness, I’m officially making this theory a part of my own head canon. Honestly, it would be pretty funny if Scott made the name of one of the most theorized about characters a massive troll against MatPat
in reality, the crying child is the scout from tf2, as scout himself had died from the bite of 87, and both the child and scout's names are jeremy, so in theorem, the crying child could verywell be a connector to how the scout had infact joined mannco despite the frontal lobe being missing, which in turn would also potentially connect the crying child's father to the spy from tf2 aswell.
