Our condolences to you. We appreciate the comment. We hope you make kleinur soon, though they, of course, won't be as good as your amma made them.

this channel is so underrated. I recently saw a vlog exploring Icelandic food and it intrigued me. I hope you could post more recipes soon. I was a fool not to try these when I visited Reykjavik last year. But then, I told myself that Iceland is not a place that you need to experience only once in your life. I would definitely be back, and hopefully soon. x

I never comment on anything, but these were just like the ones I had on my trips to Iceland - thank you! I did reduce the amount of sugar to 150g & they came out perfectly, will be experimenting with further reducing to 125g next time! thank you!

I had a wonderful dish at Cafe Loki, it was similar to a brandade, codfish, mashed potatoes in a casserole au gratin. It was Sooooo good! I would love to see you make that!

hæ!! please could you do a video on snúður? specifically snúður með karamellu! (or all three icing options). would also love to see a vid on vínarbrauð !! these are my favourite icelandic treats and i miss them so much

    • @u.b.pearson5581

Iceland Food Centre hahaha, caramel, chocolate and pink!! i guess pink is just normal icing with no flavour(or maybe just some vanilla) and the food colouring , but those are the three that i always see when i'm in iceland ! :~)

@@u.b.pearson5581 Oh yeah the pink one! We think you're right, it's normal icing with food colouing. We'll put it on our list. Thank you so much!

Just found your channel! Would love to see a video for vinabraud if you have a recipe for it...the almond kind I ate every single day I visited my Amma and Afi in Reykjavik when I was young. I’ve never been able to find a recipe for it.

Thanks for the recipe ♥️ I tried these at the Keflavik airport and I loved them! They resemble a lot our "calzones rotos" (Spanish for "torn panties" (?) Because of the shape I guess?) here in Chile ♥️

    • @IcelandFoodCentre
      @IcelandFoodCentre  4 роки тому

Icelanders, in general, think that kleinur is one of a kind, but we busted that myth in our blog, where we mentioned calzones roots, www.icelandfoodcentre.com/kleinur/ - we never knew it meant "torn panties" 😂 - We hope everything's good in Chile, best wishes.

      "Pants/ trousers" = calzones.

@@ninaelsbethgustavsen2131 actually no (I'm a native Spanish speaker), calzones in Chilean Spanish do mean "panties". Bragas is the word for panties in Spain.

Góðan daginn, hvað segirðu gótt? I don't think I've ever seen cardamom extract at either nettó, hagkaup, or bónus. However, you could probably make your own possibly with hard liquor and cardamom seeds. Ástarpungar, soðiðbrauð, and laufabrauð are also very good Icelandic fried breads. Never made ástarpungar, but could you just use this batter and add raisins to it? I tried to make soðiðbrauð once, but the batter was too tough and the lamb tallow had bit pieces that made it harder to fry. Could you make soðiðbrauð sometime in the future?

    • @IcelandFoodCentre

Góðan daginn. Við segjum allt gott, en þú?
You can crush up the cardamom seeds and just use that!
      Will definitely will make soðiðbrauð!

Æ hvað mig langar í kleinur! Mitt uppáhald
þegar eg var að alast upp á Íslandi fyrir sextíu og tveimur árum.
Vona að ég sé ekki orðin of gömul til að reyna.
Þú gerir þetta svo einfalt að ég ætla bara að slá til!
