I've watched dozens and dozens of Mega pov videos over the last few years and I don't think I've seen one quite like yours. The XC fitness really set you apart from just about everyone else.
Totally agree with you. It was by far the best Megavalanche onboard i have seen. From the stats overlay to the actual quality of the footage and obviously the unbelievable performance👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
The surroundings was a nice change to the dry areas in NM, or, where I lived for the last 19 years, CA. The only thing I was wondering why Macky participated in this race with all those hooligans. I would be worried about my bones and my health.
@@gernotkvas6364 never and I don't think I ever will. I earn my living behind the computer (electrical engineer) and consider bike riding a form of exercise. While I enjoy my rides (and the ones I watch) I would not push them so far as to injure myself.
New sub! Your megavalanche vid popped up in my feed. I’ve had a little addiction to watching Megavalanche videos over the last few yrs. You killed it over there, especially with the bike/gear delay. Next yr you’ll be on the podium for sure.
A two week turn around on a brand new bike. Macky, you are a flippin' beast. Congrats again on the phenomenal finish. I really hope you get a chance to do it again with the glacier start. It's such a gnarly race.
Megavalanche is one of the best races I have ever watched besides Mountain of Hell and for you to place in the top ten on the first try is very impressive because many of the top riders like Killian Bron Remy Mettalier and many other riders that have battled at that same race for many years and know the course by heart. Baptiste Bachelot was right behind you for some of the race and has some excellant footage of you when his camera wasn't muddy lol. So when are you going to do The Mountain of Hell race? It is another mass start that is just insane. Great placing!!!!!!!
That new bike is super badass!! You killed it at megavalanche Macky!! If you had started at the front, I believe you would have probably won or at least hit the podium!! I hope you go back next year and win it for all of us fans in the USA!! 🇺🇸 👍💪👊
He did start at the front. He was 2nd in his qualifying race which earned him a front row position. Still, to finish 7th after getting tangled up in the catch fence 20 seconds into the race and then having to fight back from so far down the field is super impressive. I think if he had hit the first corner anywhere near the top 20, he would have been on the podium. I really hope Macky has the opportunity to race the Mega again next year, because he has a very legit shot at being the first ever U.S. rider to win it.
Okay, okay, okay!!! As if Africa wasn't already epic enough, now, now you go and through in Magavalanche as well!! Macky, Syd, I can't take much more of this. I have watched alot of videos of this just because who doesn't in their right mind think racing on snow capped mountains, down ski resort runs, and single track lines isn't just bad assert, and, a little demented in the head to do this. Syd, I know you have lots of faith in Macky'sskills and his amazing downhill skills, but, just a little bit inside, I'm sure you were saying, "Why this race, why now?!?" Not to mention a huge sigh of 6 got to the bottom in one piece, and top 10 no dought!! Macky!! My man!! Dude, for real, serious props on the accomplishment of your race. These behind the scenes getting dialed in are just a fun way to see how and why you did so good, not to mention a top 10 finish. I bet there were some of those racers who were like who is this first timer, and why is he beating me. Well Done!!
I take it you mean bad ass! He was indeed. It was super sketchy this year and he coped with amazing composure. Start is everything, had he got a better one he might even have won it. Also knowing where some of the short cut lines are helps a lot. I'm a 100% fan now and will be watching more of their vids!
I watched the Megavalanche video you made, and I totally see you doing even better next year! You can win it. Seems like the bike really held up well on that brutal course.

From there its almost 10 minutes of following Macky!! Macky, hope you can use that long section of follow cam for a bit of self-coaching and review, looks like a great chance for it.
What a good build ( only better if Syd built it for you ), will have to agree with most of the comments you're fitness proved a lot, and what a great place you have for your training, I doff my hat to you well done, would you now consider going back to enduro ?
After running the race and seeing the amount of mud, do you think you would have made a different tire choice? I noticed today that the Assegai has fewer lugs, which suggests it would be better at clearing mud. The DHR II and DHF are a very popular combination, and I'm not a good enough rider to discern the difference between the DHF and Assegai.

You know I had my doubts about your skills but after watching the vids of other riders in the Mega as you pass them by I was blown away. With a better start who knows.
