I’m not in shape to do this (I’m probably only a couple hours from Downieville area and there’s trails all over the place there), but I did buy a mountain e-bike after loving these riding videos. They’re clear and don’t have dumb music dubbed over. You can hear sounds as if you’re there and the view seems stabilized to where you’d be looking - is smooth enough I can pick out a rock or corner and not lose sight of it until it passes. My new obsession though is adventure or dual-sport motorcycles. I have a street-only Harley, I’d love to have a bike that could do some trails and the (BDR) Backcountry Discovery Route.
Can't imagine ever going that fast on a trail. Sure appreciate you guys taking us along. So thrilling to experience it from such a competitive perspective! Thank you!
WOW! You were both flying! Macky was skidding into the corners, max speed for the tires. This was the only way to see who had the camera. Syd, you have gotten so much faster, it's scary! Your lines didn't look like they could be any better, and missing bad rocks at the last second. Wow, this is how it's done. Awesome execution!
The Tool song at the start of the downhill was awesome!!....some of that trail is scary as hell...the drops and how close the trail is to it..is hella scary...you guys did great!!
Hey! Having just been in Downieville, en route back to Chico from Lakes Basin Camping, I stumbled onto your excellent channel somehow. Former mountain biker, avid kayaker, hiker, and all around enthusiast of outdoor activities, I will be pleased to add my support on Patreon. Your action footage is amazing. Glad to have found you two on UA-cam...
ohmygosh I love that jersey at 26:15!! oh also awesome racing y'all! really really impressive what Macky does on those tires lol and Syd too making those rocky sections look entirely too easy
I think Downieville is my favorite race yall do! I agree with the other comments. You both looked so FAST. Its really fun watching you both succeed. Keep it up! In fact, these last 2 videos inspired me to get my bike back off the wall rack and get it ready to ride!
Great race!!! Awesome video- I did really like the quick stats. Super cool to see your speeds. Sometimes i wished to see them more, other times i was glad to not have the distraction, so the mix was the best of both worlds. 👍🏻
You guys are awesome! I have been following you for a long time but unfortunately quit riding 2 1/2 yeas ago. Watching the two of you had my palms sweating and heart racing. Thank you for letting me ride along!
Fantastic riding you guys !! It's amazing how you've gotten better over the past few years - both stronger & faster & the results show how much you've improved - an inspiration 4 us all - not to forget your fantastic imorovements in yr bike handling skills too !! Kol ha kavod !!
What a ride, both of you - outstanding! I literally started writing this comment toward the end of the video to say, as much as I enjoy these videos I would love to see full raw runs… and then you said one is coming! I don’t know how practical it is but I would love to see more full runs in addition to these recaps, of the shorter races anyway. Thanks for the entertainment and motivation 👊🏻
I like seeing the HRM display. You ride unrelatably fast, and I don't have a power meter, but I do use a HRM. Therefore, when I see your HR, I get a sense at how hard you are working. Impressive!
So inspiring! It’s awesome to have two perspectives, one that’s above my skill level and one that’s more relatable. I love to pick apart the different lines. It’s always interesting to see what an XC bike can truly accomplish! Those corners had some wild lean! And on the STs? It really shows what proper technique allows and I hope to reach that level some day. Thanks for the content! Great on all fronts :)
We all know Cam Jones down here in NZ so to be on the podium with him is amazing. Hope you got to chat with him as he is such a great mtb role model to kids back here.
He's a very skilled rider so was similarly fast on the descending parts and then he out-pedaled me on the climbs and flats (based on a Strava comparison)
@@sydandmacky yes he looks to be very strong. Love to see you doing a follow cam just behind him on that sort of run that would be good viewing. That gap probably would be less to 😁 Keep up the great work 💪
Your footage was ace and gave a real sense of speed, one of your best vids yet! Would you say the tyre gamble paid off then Macky as it looked really rocky in places.
The inaudible mumbling at 17:00 is actually the Elven spell that Arwen used to prevent the black riders from chasing Frodo across the river into Rivendell.
When I watched this video a few days ago I noticed syds shokz were a cool color I haven’t seen before. Today Shokz announced a new 10th generation headphones. Can’t help but realize those may be the same color! 🤔
You both are taking names and kick as*, when are you going to cross over to gravel racing!!! The Lifetime Grand Prix might have your names on the short list!!!! 😀😉
are you two busy on Sep 21? come to PINE, AZ for Fire on the Rim! you two would love it, it's a great course, and you would probably win the 3 lap which is one of the hardest races in Arizona! this year I finally switched from fat bike wheels to 29x2.6, still big but way faster for me.
On a recent ride, I found myself saying,"OK Macky time to push harder." Needless to say I will continue therapy.

Same only I found myself at the end of a loop utterly chinstrapped descending saying out lout "make good decisions"
When you're on the podium with Keegan, you had a great day.
"Inaudible mumblings of encouragement and self-reproach" @17:24 is just an amazing subtitle. Also very, very relatable 😀

Keegan is on a fucking tear this summer. No shock to see him on the top step of the podium. Big ups to Macky for killin it in both stages.
The Tool song at the start of the downhill was awesome!!....some of that trail is scary as hell...the drops and how close the trail is to it..is hella scary...you guys did great!!

I like the stats that you all are putting up in the right-hand corner. Nice to see how fast and what power etc. you all have been putting out. 😃
ohmygosh I love that jersey at 26:15!!

Came here to say the same: props to the jersey! I’ve got a similar one by SDR Clothing, but I like the one in the video as well.
A 3rd podium and a 5th overall🎉🎉🎉. You guys ROCK!
This video was the catalyst to me riding Downieville last week while on a trip to Tahoe! Thanks for helping me clean the waterfall section blind!
Congratulations! That is a strong and solid field. Well done.

Woohoo! Awesome!
That was exhilarating! Awesome finish Macky on those slicks!
Standing on the podium with Keegan is so cool and not that far behind . It proves the risk was worth it using the aspens . Well done to both of you
Great race!!! Awesome video- I did really like the quick stats. Super cool to see your speeds. Sometimes i wished to see them more, other times i was glad to not have the distraction, so the mix was the best of both worlds. 👍🏻
Just heck yeah. Great job, both of you. Love watching you guys at this race.
You guys are awesome! I have been following you for a long time but unfortunately quit riding 2 1/2 yeas ago. Watching the two of you had my palms sweating and heart racing. Thank you for letting me ride along!
Congrats Macky. Syd you are a warrior. You were passing guys on the way down. So strong getting through rocks et al. Thanks

25 years ago I done Motocross races That was a tough race. Congratulations!!!
Keegan is just a whole different level.
Macky did Breck too
Good race. Loved your footage and production. Thanks for an entertaining insight into the Downieville event.
Wow! Absolutely awesome riding. On the edge of my seat watching what real racing is . Great race and no mechanicals ! ❤️
CONGRATS! To both of you, it looked as though both groups were very strong riders, so you should both be proud!! Thanks for sharing!
I love how they are playing TOOL when you are about to start at Packer Saddle.
I was just about to comment on that. Right in Two
You two have really stepped up your game in the past year. Nicely done!
Well done both. Great on board footage, gave me a real feel of rider input and speed.
Dude excellent work with some big names there! Congrats
You guys are flying!! Awesome results!
Love hearing you guys speak to yourselves
Slow in Fast Out! Great job both of you
Nice blasting Tool at the start hut!
Awesome job! Macky, i think you’re the first to ever race the Mega & Downieville in the same year 💪 inspirational guys 🙂

Thanks for the entertainment and motivation 👊🏻
Congrats! Great results for you both. It really validates the training you've been documenting for us :)
That is some seriously kickass riding! Y’all are amazing!
I like seeing the HRM display. You ride unrelatably fast, and I don't have a power meter, but I do use a HRM. Therefore, when I see your HR, I get a sense at how hard you are working. Impressive!
Nice job guys. Congrats on the podium!
@23:44 Macky I've ridden that trail before and I have to say you had my butt pucker up when you went around that blind turn at Mach 3!
You're such awesome athletes! That looked like a lot of fun.

great race both, flying machines, and thanks for posting a mid week video, wasn't expecting that, looking forward to seeing that full run.
Well done both of you 💪
Congrats to both of you for a great race!
You both are so inspiring.
It’s really cool to see each of your line choices. The flow of the trails was awesome and y’all were grooving with speed.
Dude at 23:30 nonchalantly not moving outta the way as Syd was blazing up that tech section had me heated! and still blew past him no biggie!
We all know Cam Jones down here in NZ so to be on the podium with him is amazing. Hope you got to chat with him as he is such a great mtb role model to kids back here.
You two are amazing! Congratulations!!!!
Great runs for both you guys!💪🏻
Congrats on an OUTSTANDING race…. Cheers
Dave
Shredded that chicane at the end!
Living the dream! Enjoy it while you can!!
Great race guys! “That was not on my bingo card.” 😅
Congrats!!!
Exciting race! Nice job!
You two were awesome!
Congrats! You two are the best.
I want a Syd and Mackey calendar. Like, y'all are beautiful. Great work!
Love the speed indicator. In my option, it helps define the level your riding at.
Well done guys .
What an awesome race both of you SYD & Macky you did an amazing result !
terrific vid,,,very exciting...superb editing made my heart race!!
Big congrats to you both...you could see how much the weekend took it out of you! Hope you managed to enjoy it afterwards?
Omg. I feel so spoiled riding on roads🤣😂. Watching this just confirmed I can’t ride a mountain bike 🤣😂 You guys are beasts! Congrats.
You guys are amazing , another great one !
Interesting line choice on the waterfall section ! Ripping.
...and congratulations!
That was a great run for both of you. On a podium with Keegels is pretty ok.
Nice! Congratulations guys
Amazing racing guys, love the shots..
Syd 09:29 so Clean & Fast!
You guys rock !! 🔥
Great episodes
Great race guys
You guys rock!
Wow! Some of that trail has some serious consequences if you go too far to the right! Good job to both of you!
How the hell does Keegan put a minute into Macky. Macky looked to be flying 👏👏
Awesome riding guys

Wow, really impressive - great riding by both of you! Some of those exposed edges were butt-clenching - yikes!!! Great video again. Thanks!
Keegan is a beast!
Your footage was ace and gave a real sense of speed, one of your best vids yet! Would you say the tyre gamble paid off then Macky as it looked really rocky in places.
Yeah, I think it was the right call as it helped me finish 4th the previous day.
That was insane!!!
Congrats ✨👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
The upper section is a rocky mess in places, but after the creek crossing its a wide open speed racer downhill. One of my favorites rides.
I've only raced with Katlin in bikepacking races, I can't imagine how fast she is w/out 35lbs of gear strapped to her bike.
Hahaha also you know she's never going to slow down because no matter how long a race you are doing, it's short to her 😂😂
I cop enough flack riding Maxxis Ikons on trails like that. Pretty sure I'd die riding Aspens! Great race!
Sweet! Yes podium with Keegan doesn’t suck
Some of that exposure just scares the living heck out of me at race speeds... dang!
The inaudible mumbling at 17:00 is actually the Elven spell that Arwen used to prevent the black riders from chasing Frodo across the river into Rivendell.

Yoooo...Tool's "Right In Two" @ 6:01
Wow, that course is tough.
Flat asphalt would be easier to ride on. Just putting that out there.

23:42 I would've ended up at the bottom of the valley 😂😂
I found myself gasping for both of them at that spot. And having to tell myself to relax, breath, look ahead and I'm just watching it. 😳
It looks like both of you have cameras on fast foward. So freaking fast!!! Incredible race.
Go Cameron Jones!
Yeah MacDawg!!!!
