  • Today's video is PART 2 of Basic Vehicle Rescue class with Pennsylvania Ambulance, Dickson City Fire, and Throop Fire departments. This video puts every student to the ultimate test. They must deal with a vehicle that has been turned on its side, while also assessing and treating multiple patients. This was a stress-induced test that everyone did very well at. We pray that these students don't actually face incidents like this too early in their careers or volunteering. Bring on the CHAOS

Verse of the day: 2 Corinthians 12:9
But he said to me, "my grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weakness, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

I know a CPR instructor who would yell and scream at BLS providers in his class. He'd throw things around and make all kinds of crazy distractions to see how well you kept your head and did your compressions. I also know some EMT classes that now use the Redman fighting suits to surprise students during scenarios and put them into fights. Everyone puts one on for their scenario but not everyone is attacked.

I'm only 16 but both my grandparents were firefighters and EMTs. I took multiple CPR and 1st aid courses as a result of this. I remember one I took where the instructor yelled at you like a drill Sergeant the entire time and played music, car noises and anything he could to distract you. If you got distracted at all during the entire thing he made you restart. I'm pretty good at performing CPR now.

Great team work! How many FF were on the scene? Consider having a scenario with a limited number of manpower initially. Early on you may only have a few rescuers.

This to me was hard to follow. With all of the different helmets it was hard to know who was in command . In my area most departments have the same type of helmets with firefighters wearing yellow or black, captains wearing red and chiefs wearing white. And the paramedics have blue as do our incident safety officer. Other than that good work on everyone.
