cool I haven't read it yet but after your comment I'm gonna look for it,been a fan since I seen him in San Jose,CA in 79 all great shows I've lost count in the 80s he was always playing in the bay area
I've been a huge fan of the RedRocker for over 40 years, the more I learn about him just makes love him even more. A hell of a man with a big heart that has grasped the essence of life .
He is such an awesome person 55 first time seeing this interview can I have a mutual friend with him and I wrote Samuel Sammy a letter LG responded back and sent me a bunch of autographed pictures and a bunch of guitar picks from this time in Van Halen iChickenfoot and the circle
Sammy's solo career was on the rise when he joined Van Halen and 5150 proved he was peaking. One of my first albums was Standing Hampton. I heard "I'll fall in love again" and walked to the mall and bought it for $5.99
Hey bro I wasn't trying to disrespect you or make you mad or anything I was just my brother passed away 6 months ago and the only thing I've been doing is playing guitar really ever since you've been passed away every day and I just had you guys hang on and I don't know how it happened but I guess it's happened and I apologize
I admire and respect Sammy . Lately I've been listening to the Sammy era with Van Halen. Yes I'm also a fan of the Roth era yet I feel Sammy's era he took Van Halen took to the next level .. The two songs from the Sammy era that I've been hooked on is Right Now & Dreams can't seem to get enough
Some people think they have to disrespect Sammy era Van Halen to make Roth look good but I love both and without Sammy Van Halen wouldn't have songs like Dreams, 5150, Best of both worlds, Can't stop loving you, Pound cake , they cut so many great tracks with Sammy those songs speak for themselves
Saw a guy and gal at the beach in the OC recently with their small dog. Asked what type of dog it was...he said a mini yorkie. Looked like Sammy...I said "you don't sing a little do you?"...he chuckled and said yes. We chatted a bit...shook his hand and told him I've really enjoyed his music over the years. Very nice, down to earth guy...looks great for 75 also!
I have always been a Sammy fan...always. it warms myheart to hear about his charitable efforts. God will not forget you Sammy. Bless you and your family.
One of the last questions was about the measure of a good life. Sammy and his music from his solo career, and for me it started with Standing Hampton (hands down, my all time go to album) then discovering his whole career pre and post SH. Icing on the cake is Van Hagar for all this. Sammy, you made a positive difference in my life. You gave me a soundtrack for those magical experiences of my teen years and beyond. I am indebted to you for that. To have seen through the years that you are one he'll of a great guy and a real person is profound. Thank you Sammy! And as jnportantly, thank you for all the respect you have shown for your friend, Michael Anthony. He is pure platinum! Thank you for you esteemed and decorated service to both of you veterans, Sammy and Mike Sarraille! (11 years in the army here, finishing in Iraq in 04 on a 4man special ops team operating out of Samarra). Thanks Mike for the interview. It is very appreciated!
I have been a Sammy fan since his Montrose days. I love Sammy. He has made a major impact in the Rock n Roll world. He seems like a very caring, intelligent guy. He is my favorite all time musician ever!
Sammy dedicated a song to a Cabo resident who frequented his club and restaurant. His wife was there at Cabo Wabo that night and it elevated her heart. She and her husband are/were big fans, even named their “club” on their compound at the beach “Club 805”. Sammy is maybe the most real person in the music world.
He's pretty amazing , esp considering his rough childhood . He could easily have ended up in a tent in Venice Beach. Like Sammy , I also had a severe alcoholic parent , I know how that is; and my other parent left when I was only four. It affects the brain you end up with PTSD. So it's amazing , that he's so high achieving. I also respect him for speaking up about his UFO communications. Not many have the courage.
Carnal and RHRN tours in early 90’s were epic. Best live rock band ever. 4 guys doing what they were born to do. Still listen everyday. Need to get back to Cabo!
Sammy just a regular dude. Read his book. Loved it. This guy is so grounded. So humble. So talented. He is all about enjoying his craft. His music. People like Sammy help make the world more humane.
Sammy is guided by his Intuition, which is the voice of God, talking in your ear. Sammy Hagar had a long road to the top. It wasn't easy. But he learned and grew into a solid man.
you can learn a lot from this guy man...biggest thing i learned was to believe in yourself, i think self-doubt is what made most people fail, along with lack of hard work.
Sammy - 'what can i do to help?' brilliant. Mike seems momentarily speechless a couple of times by Sammy's real, honest, direct answers. lol. ty 4 interview boys
It's always great to hear from Sammy. However, the interviewer should not have so many dry spots and should make it seem like he's talking with an old friend.
Agreed, Sammy laughing and tells a great story.. interviewer next question... the interviewer dors keep quiet and not interrupt though huge props for that.
I would love to be able to go to a concert and watch him but I’d be wanting to go out there because I’m done with this Indiana weather cold and humidity is old and tough on the body for sure. But thank you Sammy for all the awesome music and hopefully I’ll be blessed to see you in concert at the cobo
Sammy's music was a huge influence for me as a teen. I also grew up poor after my dad died when I was 10. I learned failure wasn't an option. So, I learned a work ethic .
This is my first time seeing this video and I have to say I have a mutual friend with Sammy Hagar I gave you the opportunity to write a letter he was so kind to respond to me personally sent me a bunch of autographed pictures and a bunch of guitar picks. That was so kind and generous of him
Been a fan since Montrose! And I actually like the guy, what I know of him. I'm glad you made it out. I know all about poor and not everyone gets that break. See many everyday that appear to have given up. Funny seems I've heard about 4 musicians who stole there first guitars. But bro 125? I can't imagine wanting to live 65 more yrs in this body.
Sammy has been blessed by God with incredible talent and with success and in so many other ways! I pray he is at peace with God and that sharing his fortune with others shows them what love is all about.
G'day Sammy, l had a similar up bringing and listening and watching you talk and your music has taught me alot. I love your gratitude and your attitude, thanks Man👍🇦🇺
The trouble with never has A-line. "When was the last time you did something for the first time" from a different kind of truth by van halen. Maybe it's a coincidence. I love Sammy Hagar. He's an awesome guy.
I stumbled across this interview and I am proud to say SAMMY is awesome. MET him on Best of All Worlds this past Friday in person with a buddy got pics and hope to see him again soon.
@11:45 "The Bitter comes out better on a stolen guitar". Bowie, Spiders from Mars. EDit: Mike Sarraille @50:51 (reverse of VH brand 5150) says "you mentioned you are a friend of WARREN Buffett". He meant to say Jimmy Buffett. Funny Freudian slip. I would love to meet Sammy some day, perhaps down in Cabo SL, very cool guy.
I love listening to Sammy talk and tell stories. I always have. My first time seeing this interviewer. Was there a delay of some kind between Sammy and him? He kept trying to ask the next question before Sammy was finished talking. Started to drive me a little crazy.

Great question. I am a singer and learning he is having vox probs...Makes me feel like helping others...Your vox box is your communication. And taking care of it is MOST important. Love Yourself and your ears.
It must be nice having more money than you can ever spend unfortunately I can't pay the rent and I lost my job because I couldn't afford to drive to work. Love you Sammy have been watching you for my whole lifetime. Im 44 from St Louis I'm a KSHE 95 listener and I love my city keep up the good work!

For anyone still trying to decide on who the greatest Van Halen front man was: please paste a link below on the interview that David Lee Roth goes into depth about the ways he helps others. I’ll wait (pun intended)
The one thing I do know about Sammy Hagar it is that he created a good legacy not just for himself but his family and his kids for when I get older maybe they might want to take things over when he's not around no more or what he can't do it anymore I don't see that happening anytime soon
He mentioned in the video that he was thinking of taking vocal lessons with a vocal coach, to find out if he was doing anything wrong that caused him to run into issues on tour in the cold weather. He would probably be better off seeing an ENT than a vocal coach, because if he went this long without any vocal issues, I doubt he is doing anything wrong with his vocal technique.
If I had the chance to work for anyone in the business it would be Sammy he is the coolest guy in rock n roll and at this age still has it can't say that about Dave
May God bless you Sammy theres nothing like helping people in need . I hope you believe in our Lord Jesus Christ cause besides doing what you are for the people who need you , your also doing it for Jesus Christ our saviour. So again God bless you always my friend ,and great singer and performer Rock on baby
Wow your Dad was like my Dad! Mine died in 1999 & before he died he apologized to me for all his years of drinking strong drinks! Sure miss he & my Mom often since their deaths! One died in 1998 & other a year later in 1999! Thanks Sammy to share your fact of your Dad to make me realize I’m not only person raised up under a tuff Dad! ♥️🌟👋
I woke up last Tuesday mourning at 02:20, sweating, my heart was racing, beat, beat, beat. I had a panic attack. The stress man. This God damn HOA want's to forclose on my property of over 22 years, if I don't pay a minor violation fine, $100.00 a day, for mold on my van. $12,000.00 fine. I will handle it, some how, lol, where eagles fly.
Like David lee Roth said! Sammy sings about love, Dave sings about ain’t talking about love ! They where in the same band but didn’t get along, Sammy said Dave is a very weird guy!
I guess this proves the theory do what you love you'll never work a day in your life unfortunately for a lot of us the burden of responsibility makes one grind out a liven the sucks dealing with back stabbing peaple that smile to your face all the while behind your back wishing you failure and misery good to see peaple like Sammy staying on top for hes seen his share of grief love his music
Sammy listen to you from the very first time you came out with Montrose and you are such an awesome level-headed real human being damn still kick some ass please I'm about five years younger but I've been around for a long time and played when they before I got married a lot of places a lot of times when I got married I couldn't deal with doing that and being married and have kids but my kids are grown and they're so awesome but it will tell you this bro you there the whole time
Sammy might not want to be overly local. I lived in San Diego for eight years between 1985-92. There wasn’t a huge amount of homeless then, but the advocates went crazy when the nighttime temps were about to touch 40. They city would open libraries and other public buildings to shield the homeless…. In the meantime, there were people living under lower Wacker Dr. and elsewhere OUTSIDE in Chicago. But they would look at 40 degrees as really nice, because it might be -5 or -10, sometimes even worse in Chicago. Lots of those people are mentally ill, too mentally ill to go to Florida, Arizona, or California. For 40 years I’ve always known, if I go homeless, I’m heading to San Diego, no doubt.
Great interview. But am I the only one that thinks Sammy is starting to look like Mel Brooks in his old age? LOL! ANd I mean that affectionately. Mel is a genius too.
Sammy is a really inspirational person. He’s proof that cream always rises to the top. He’s had adversities in his life that made him resort to BOTH ‘the easy way’ (i.e. stealing) and ‘the hard way’ (i.e. hard WORK). What separates Sammy from other people is that he recognized and feels guilt for the stuff he did ‘the easy way’ and he embraces his hard work - and he uses that work to give and give and give. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: 40 years ago we didn’t know ANYTHING about the artists we heard on the radio (for those of us who are on the younger side - google what radio was ;) all we knew were the songs and whatever there was in a liner note or in a magazine (which was probably just a fabrication to sell magazines. Now that we have access to all this information it is amazing to learn all these intricate details. It has changed my esteem for people. Sammy is one of those artists. Thank you for posting this interview!
Few Rockstars are humble.
And even fewer Rockstars give back.
Sammy does both.
🎉a pp❤❤🎉😮😮😮😮😮😮
I read Sam’s book and got lost in the sauce. It’s a great read. He’s such a good guy, with a sweet, kind heart. Love Sammy Hagar.

Sammy Hagar is the epitome of the American dream and hard work.
Major respect for this Man. What's not to like.
Thank You.
I've been so inspired and enriched by listening to Sammy in every interview or program he is on. A wonderful human being.

G'day Sammy, l had a similar up bringing and listening and watching you talk and your music has taught me alot. I love your gratitude and your attitude, thanks Man👍🇦🇺

This man is totally amazing!!! Big heart has done so much for people who need help
Give to love! Love you Sammy
I can't say enough good things about this man. He has such an amazing heart. Love you sammy
I love listening to Sammy talk and tell stories. I always have. My first time seeing this interviewer. Was there a delay of some kind between Sammy and him? He kept trying to ask the next question before Sammy was finished talking. Started to drive me a little crazy.
Sammy is Awesome! Keep on Rockin brother!!! Luv ya man!
I like this interviewer letting Sammy talk not interrupting him like most hosts do
Sam's a good dude. The man is timeless and still putting out great records.
A good friend of mine bartends at Myrtle Beach. Sammy came in because he was playing HOB the next night. My friend said he couldnt have been nicer and more down to earth.
Lovin' Sammy , love what he's doing, everything he's experiencing is in the Bible, giving back, getting a great feeling doing it. Caring about others. Sammy, Read the Gospel of John, it'll show you clearly who God is. Actually in the first verse of chapter one.
Thank you Red Rocker for all you do for others you're truly one of my favorite artists
I wish he would help me get started doing my passion and that’s music and I have had it since I was 4 years old and I saw Elvis on tv and I have had the bug ever since and I could play anything but I got a flu shot when I was 35 and it disabled me with GBS and I had to learn to walk by myself and even right. But I did it and I didn’t lose my voice and it is like a big deal to me and every time I get a sinus infection and lose my voice it’s depressing because its all I’ve got. But I’m 54 now and I don’t know if it’s possible to even get any where at my age and being disabled. But I’ve always wanted to move to a warm climate and low humidity so I can sing like I used to and I would provide for me and my wife but I would also build homeless shelters for families and men and women. And for our veterans. But they would have security for all because its to help people get on their feet not to free loaders Sammy would be proud because I finally played guitar again and both hands worked and I played rock candy all the way threw but I had to be listening to it and I played rythum not lead but dam it’s been years since I’ve been able to play anything because of my nerve damage I cried like a baby but it was tears of joy and thanks to God for blessing me with that I am still realing from it and it’s been a few weeks ago lol 😂
Great question. I am a singer and learning he is having vox probs...Makes me feel like helping others...Your vox box is your communication. And taking care of it is MOST important. Love Yourself and your ears.
This is the second Sammy Hagar interview that I’ve watched, he is cool.
“Everybody can win.” Great quote.
Just ordered a brand-new copy of "RED"! Thanks, Sammy for your positive outlook on life!!!
From Montrose until now he puts give in rock and rock in give. Insparational!!
outstanding interview
Such a gracious humans being as well 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
It's gonna be a really sad day when the good Lord calls Sammy home.
Montrose with Sammy opening for Aerosmith was my first concert back in '77.
I had no idea who "Red is a Motherfucker" person was that fans were waving these signs. I just assumed the singer running around the stage was Montrose!
His book is a must read if you like rock.
Learn to read, it will be worth it.
I THINK THE WORD IS AUESOME@! SAMMY,ST.LOUIS LOVES YOU. K-SHE 95.
Love you Sammy saw you at the cow palace like 1985 awsome show Van Hagar Halloween if I remember correctly 🎉
If more people were like him,and you knew them, you would have a very contented life, heaven can wait, its already here
The 2 things I remember from Sammys book was when his mom left his dad.
They went by the house and it was mostly burned out but they looked in the broken window and his dad was sitting on a box.
And then the 2nd was when his dad died in the back of a cop car.
But he overcame that. There's also a picture of him getting married in 1968. And he's looking great 54 years later. I was born in 1966 so I know how long ago that was.
love Sammy!
He is my hero.
God Bless Sammy and Mike, this is awesome, glad I stumbled on this
so much energy from Sammy it seems like he has extra batteries or something. He is inspiring
I wasn't a big fan of Van Hagar, but I am a big fan of Sammy Hagar the man. He is just a great guy.
Sammy Hagar did you write what is still my all time favorite song (Connection) good life for a good man say hay Sammy thank you
For anyone still trying to decide on who the greatest Van Halen front man was: please paste a link below on the interview that David Lee Roth goes into depth about the ways he helps others. I’ll wait (pun intended)
Sammy is, so like able he seems like you know him listen to him speaking
Why I retired at 62. Now all I do is fuck with my guitars and play. I'm a old bad ass. Wanna play with me Sammy.
Thank you Sammy for telling about your experience
The one thing I do know about Sammy Hagar it is that he created a good legacy not just for himself but his family and his kids for when I get older maybe they might want to take things over when he's not around no more or what he can't do it anymore I don't see that happening anytime soon
I'd love to meet and have a drink with sammy and listen to him talk about his life and hard work
Reading his life story was amazing.
923 I tried catching tonight I couldn't get it and I couldn't figure it out cuz I can't read it right too well
Saw him with Montrose mid 70s. What a throat.
Sammy u r the man and the true red rocker hope to see you soon in Philly 😊
If I had the chance to work for anyone in the business it would be Sammy he is the coolest guy in rock n roll and at this age still has it can't say that about Dave
I will always love me some Sammy❤❤
I Totally agree with Sammy about keeping the vision inside and not explaining. It's not what you say it's what ya do.
May God bless you Sammy theres nothing
like helping people in need . I hope you believe
in our Lord Jesus Christ cause besides doing
what you are for the people who need you , your
also doing it for Jesus Christ our saviour. So again
God bless you always my friend ,and great singer
and performer Rock on baby
Wow your Dad was like my Dad! Mine died in 1999 & before he died he apologized to me for all his years of drinking strong drinks! Sure miss he & my Mom often since their deaths! I believe Sammy is an enlightened human.
$2500.00 to the food bank of every city he has ever played in. If that is true that's amazing and something I was totally unaware of.
Enjoyed your interview! So interesting information about you!
Maybe if everyone had his attitude there wouldn’t be as many homeless
Never been a huge fan of Sammy's but I've always liked the guy lol, it's just hard not to like him.
119 years 11 months 29 days, tops. Speaking only of the Sammy we see.
Dogs pigs sheep
God bless Sammy Hagar. 💀🔥🎸
Will always be a Sammy Hagar fan.
Cool and down to Earth Smart Man !❤
One of the best human being in the rock and roll bullshit industry! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Sammy is amazing
He's truly a good man.
