Fabian, these videos have been "around the block" so to speak. Many were once part of my scenery building DVD's. I'm happy with sharing them, free of charge, to the folks that visit this site. Besides, many are old and out of date. So thanks for your kind offer but I decline moving them to another platform.

One of the brilliant things here, is using photos of actual model buildings in the backdrop. What a great way to extend the alternate world. Not sure if I’ve seen this idea before. Just one one of many smart things Frary does. He really did bring model railroading from the days of oil based paints , hydrocal plasters, lichen, and oil varnishes up to our time.

Fantastic modelling, Dave! That water is realer than real, and the scenery between and around the rails is super A E S T H E T I C. The building placement is also very tasteful.

A cool video, by the way that Kibri kit is actually by Heljan. I regoninzed it as I had one in my first layout back in early 1970.s.

Great! One question--I'm using your method to create the water and bought one of Bruce's waterline kits. Did you place the boats on surface after the water was complete or is it better to place the boats on the painted surface and then work the Mod Podge around it so the boat looks like it's actually in the water. I know the latter method is more permanent, and therefore less flexible, but I'm interested in what would look best. Thanks...

Because this is a display the boats were added after the water was built. They needed to be removed after every show.

Dave for coloring sceneries like the Fiddletiwn Display, You built, or something like The Grand Canyon, would it be better to use tinting powders or tube acrylic paints? Which colors are more suitable for this kind of terrain? I guess maybe some kind of red combined with some orange and maybe yellow? Which other colors? Am I in the right track?
    Robert.-

I mix rock powders (available in art suppliers) with earth colored acrylic paint (indoor flat wall paint) to get the desert colors I like. The nice thing about rock powders is that they do not fade even if left in direct sun light.

@@thetracksidemodeler8573 Thank You Dave! Is there some source(book, dvd, etc.), for modelling those Colorado like reddish mountains?
I'm also interested in weathering built-up structures and locomotives? Have You ever modelled a subway station diorama or the like? I have a couple of nyc-styled subway sets from MTH! As You can see, I have 2 layout building inspirations, and I'm looking for sources of orientation for building them!
      Robert.-

No waves. This is a display where the customers model boats needs to set flat on the water surface.
