Wardii has never gotten the recognition he deserves for being a cornerstone of this community. Another man silently working 20+ hour days just so we all have endless tournaments to watch and players to support. Great interview and keep up the good work both of you.

This man, brought me back to startcraft. when I stopped playing in studies this guy kept me entertained for free, and after so many years I still play, cause of him. I hope he can recognize how much this man has done for us. Thanks Wardiii

Wardi is a legend! I was in his clan when I got to diamond and became elegible in hots. The person is a literal pillar of the community. Thank you, Starcraft Historian!

Hey man love your work and appreciate it. Was very nice to see wardii. I actually had a small suggestion though, its a little nerdy but i would love it if you asked interviewees about their favourite matches/players/events or something like that. Just thought it would be fun to hear:p

One question would've been interesting to ask from Wardi. Does he think that he can organise an offline tournament? Would he has interest in doing that and what would it take.

Love you Wardi! You’re absolutely right the TLMC tournaments you run are crucial for feedback both from the games themselves but also just the viewer reaction. Its so difficult to get player and viewer feedback on maps, especially in the SC2 sphere where the mentality is “if it’s not on ladder then it’s not official, and if it’s not official then why would I play/review it?” It’s a thankless business but you’re so crucial to the scene. Stay strong my man, doing god’s work out here

afreeka still makes protoss favoured maps etc for broodwar. none of this should be a surprise.

Its easy to blame foreign company but in end of day, sc2 in korea didnt have much of local audience at all.
Yes, its talking about marketing to foreigners but whole afreeca tournaments for minor games (kof/wc3/ect) were focused around marketing their brand for korean people
When much of live audience is mostly foreigners, it says it all, not to mention live viewer metrics & forum activity is not great to say the least.
I think its entirely unfair to blame jt all on that when blizzard has propped up frankly a very low viewing esports with their own funding and afreeca continued after with high production afterwards. Sure its all done because of marketting their brand but its truthly, above and beyond the viewership it has gotten

No, it is entirely their fault. Blizzard owed them absolutely nothing after what Korea did to blizzard in broodwar.

the problem is still how much they focused on the korean only scene instead of making gsl an actually global league, people would be even more invested if we saw foreigners constantly being well represented( no the ``just qualify `` is not an excuse, they could make it easier to have people from europe and america being represented every season) and with the right marketing gsl could do better. are you korean? do you understand how difficult it is for some companies to deal with the korean market because of how much they ask and how purist they are? you remember artosis asking to stay as a caster in the gsl when he moved and they just said no? the guy that we all love that has being casting for 10 years. They had the most loved casting duo in the entire esports scene and they didnt take advantage of that. they didnt take advantage of so many things. im not saying they are bad by any means, gsl is still historical and an amazing part of sc2 history, im sure alot of people there tried their best for years but it definetely could be better, just like everything.

Hey historian huge fan. Can I request an interview with HDstarcraft aka Alex. Wardi mentioned him in this video and I would really love more information on how he is these days. I used to watch his videos everyday as kid and I loved them. Thank you and much love ♥️

gsl failing is very "korean" though. it is a bit mind boggling when someone looks from the outside in, but for a country as incredibly ethnocentric as they are, it isn't exactly surprising they wouldn't look for foreign dollars.

I got a hate love relationship with Wardi :). I respect what he does for the scene, used to watch a lot of his channel games, even for along time used to support him with Patreon. Then like 1/2 year ago i started more and more notice his anti - Protoss bias. First I could stant it, but then it got to much for me, not noticing Protoss good moves, praising every little thing terran does in PvT, anti protoss quips, it was like at the end of each PvT game Protoss won i felt Wardi was almost saying "Yeah you won casue your race imba, i dont respect your skill" ... As a Protoss player, i just stopped having fun watching his casting, so i stopped watching him, and stopped the Patreon. Maybe im crazy , but i dont hear this bias when i watch Cranky Ducklings or Steadfast or Chickenman.. Still resepct him for what he does for the scene, but cant watch his games.
