Today we have a piece with one of the most storied and experienced figures in the Esports world, Thorin. Old school StarCraft people will remember him from his days making content like his "Grilled" series of interviews and appearances on shows like Unfiltered. Duncan is THE Esports Historian and a wonderful piece of journalistic talent, and it was an honor to have him on.

Love this man
thorin doesn't get enough love despite his rough moments. hes a legend
Always amazing to hear Thorin! Great work.
Great interview, dude. Thorin is definitely one of the best (and spiciest) minds to ever work in e-sports.
Top notch stuff. Appreciated.
with many of these youtube interviews I tend to play them at 1.25 or even 1.5 speed, this must be one of the few occasions where I've considered actually slowing it down lmao
😂
Imagine what that's like for someone like me whose mother tongue is Spanish 😂 trying to follow what he's saying is challenging 😅
@@facundosoler2200 I can totally imagine it, I'm also not a native speaker.
Thorin at 1.5x is perfect. A better quality and less distorted 2x.
One of the best minds in business! ❤
Honestly this was one of the more interesting interviews you've done IMO. It's always cool to see a break from the norm extending out into the community. Very well done.
really do enjoy your content keep up the good work and never wouldve imagined thorin, would love to see you get Day9 or artosis anyway thank you
Now this is a crossover and a half! Thanks for this \m/
Much love for Thorin!
Starcraft is life
Always great to see Thorin, thanks for putting this up!
Sweet!!! We need an ASL podcast!
1:07:00 We really need new categories for monopolies.
thanks for the interview, even tho i disagree with a couple of things with thorin, its always great to hear a different point of view !
100% agree
this guy knows a lot of jokes
1:17:00 The only people who always win are the leeches from the production and distribution companies.
It doesn't matter if he doesn't have a gsl lol he routinely beats the best gsl players including maru just about everytime...what's the difference if he does it in a gsl studio or another stage? He beats them all it doesn't matter. He's the goat anyone who says otherwise is kidding themselves
To answer your question, The main Differences are 1. Koreans are always jetlagged in foreign tourneys 2. GSL format is different and allows players time to prepare which Reynor says makes Zerg (Serral's race) less powerful in GSL, and 3. GSL is absolutely stacked, besides Clem and Serral and whichever Koreans came over from GSL, the level of the average competitor is arguably higher in code S than foreign tournaments. Obviously, SC2 players aren't rich enough to prioritise legacy over more important things such as income but if Serral cared enough about legacy he'd definitely compete in Code S and if he won first try it would solidify his GOAT argument further.
He doesn't stop talking, lol
starcraft is the perfect endless multiplayer game
Thorin had me until he acted like Afreeca was gonna pay him for giving them a handy
Edit: Jesus, he has a horrific take on the BW/Korea controversy as well. Man this interview revealed who Thorin is.
Could actually discuss your disagreements with his "take" instead of writing the equivalent of a dunk tweet.
@@Pr0nogo imagine referencing Twitter like it’s still relevant
I used to be big listener of JRE and Lex Fridman, but Thorin kind of put them in the back of the bus to me. His side channel have bunkers interviews, not to mention his main work related with eSports.
