Dan has always been grumpy.
@@mr.whisper3338 NO HE WASNT! Sleazy, sometimes fustrated, maybe over ambitious, conniving, manipulative, a little enthusiastic, but grumpy? Nahhhh

Wonderful to see John Larroquette back on TV.
NOT on a crappy reboot like this
@@BAKER22-l4u You're right, I saw a few clips and didn't think it was that funny. But I do like the cast, including John Larroquette.

Incredible how? The line and the reboot are NOT funny in ANYWAY and the show will be LUCKY to make it one season.
@@BAKER22-l4u well about that one season thing you mentioned 😂
@@BAKER22-l4uHonestly, give it a break, the show is just starting out.
Just let Larroquette LOOSE!! He's the best thing on the show!
John Larroquette's performance here seems low energy or restrained compared to the way he was in the original show.I understand that his character is older now and grumpier so maybe its appropriate in that sense.
Dan Fielding started out being pretty conservative in the very beginning. He didn’t become a full fledged horndog until around season 3. I don’t think a 70 something year old sex fiend would be as funny today.
@@emanuellawton7942 He's...75 so maybe you're right. But..I hope I'm that sassy at 75!
Many awards say he was the best part of the original as well.
He was the best thing in the original too.
Anyone else pick up on the Easter egg "Precedent of Anderson versus PLLLLLL" -- Harry Anderson played the original Judge Stone in Night Court.
Pretty sure EVERYONE picked up on that.
@@5th_cellar I know us old timers that saw the original noticed it. But I have a feeling this show is getting a lot of Big Bang Theory fans that are younger -- who probably never saw the original.
@@TheAdventureSchmuck I wonder. I think it's actually getting a lot of fans of the original who think the 'woke millenials' have made it too PC. Overlooking how many of the original episodes revolved around Dan learning to be more PC. Mind you, those seem like fake fans and we can do without them, anyway.
@@5th_cellar I was both a fan of the original Night Court and The Big Bang Theory. True about Night Court. Christine never took any of Dan's crap. I was working as a paralegal in the 1980s. There were plenty of guys like Dan and plenty of us women like Christine trying to educate them. I loved Night Court. I like the new Night Court, and will stick with it. The original took a while to find its footing, too.

I love this reboot absolutely perfect thanks so much Melissa you nailed it
🤣🤣🤣 John Larroquette hasn't lost it, playing Dan Fielding. Same sarcastic S.O.B. as ever.
Now a public defender instead of the prosecutor
This scene was comedy gold. It looked like Melissa Rauch was breaking slightly. She looked like she was trying to keep her laugh down long enough to get through the scene. But there had to be some busting up filming this one.
This knock-off will crash and burn. For one thing it needs a live audience.
"Take your time deciding. Enjoy being courted". LOL

Holy Crap! Dan actually caring for a client? MADNESS! Total madness!
I remember when we all said “they don’t make shows like this anymore.”
God how I wish that were still true
It is so nice to hear Melissa's real voice.
After 29 years of being off the air he still had to catch himself from saying yes sir lol! Its good that they kept that in there.
I do love Melissa Rauch she is so funny and was awesome on BIG BANG. But I prefer The old night Court.
“I learned nerd for this.”
She was already fluent in it..
A D&D D&D ... ok that was good ... lol.
So Dan has completely switched sides, and is now a Public Defender rather than the District Attorney.
Keep this show alive!
When I was a kid every year the Wizard of Oz was on TV which was a major event. The next day a bunch of us grade schoolers reenacted the movie on the playground. This new version reminds me of kids who have just watched an old Night Court, and now pretending to be the cast the next day.
Nailed it.
Bernadette knows all about D & D, Howard used to play it all the time on game night at Leonard and Sheldon's apartment!
Too bad she wasn't there for Pictionary. Sheldon was an expert at Pictionary. 😉
Permission to lean was pretty good 1:24
Especially when he touched his face. 😂
I lost it when Dan blew the raspberry. But having watched the whole episode three times now, that gag isn't even the funniest part of the whole episode. The best gag involved cupcakes, especially in the final scene. My mother was laughing uproariously at that gag, and she grew up with the original Night Court! Even my father cracked a smile, and thought this episode was better than the first two!
They went back to the adult bakery from one of the original best episodes
Nate Crabbe here! Fun fact: he was originally supposed to blow my bull horn but ended up improvising the raspberry bit
It's so weird hearing her normal voice
Laugh track is too much

Feels exactly like the John Larroquette Dan Fielding character of so many years ago, who is the funniest person in these scenes. The young judge is doing well too and the cast. Just let John loose and this show will do well! Also someone ask Brett Spiner to come back in do to do his Wheeler character from ages ago in Night Court.
This scene reminded me so much of the old Dan. The best of Dan is still there we just haven't seen horndog Dan but he's older so that part of him has died just as it dies in all of us as we get older.
LMAO.. RIDICULOUS!!
It's NOT even close
They should've made Fielding the judge in the re-make -- this will flop sadly.
EXACTLY.. Well said 😎👍🏻
Melissa Rauch's natural voice is so much more pleasant than her voice in TBBT's Bernadette.
I don't like the court room setting. It's doesn't have the feel and vibe that this is a "night" court like the original one did.
Night Court was seedy and grungy with all kinds of bizarre characters.
The brighter lighting on this series makes the courtroom appear more empty. Either that or I didn't see anyone sitting in the jury box or gentle giant Bull standing back there.
"I learned nerd for this."
"Yeah? I lived it for 8 years. What's your point?"
Without giving spoilers, both Dan and Abby have something in common when it comes to their lives, watch the episode and you'll get why shes crabby..
Who could possibly be that invested in this?
It has been bittersweet, watching this show and lamenting all of the original cast members who are no longer here. But I have enjoyed it thus far, and I think that it's John Laroquette who is the most important person on the show. The original Dan Fielding, in addition to being cynical, was also a total pervert. I'm surprised that hasn't surfaced here, and Dan's role has become that of a surrogate father for his former colleague's daughter. It's very touching and very funny.
Dan has grown surprisingly. He's a widow, older and wiser. I thought it would've been interesting if he took over as judge with abby coming in as the young lawyer. The show does need another strong personality to play off dan though.
Did anybody catch the "Anderson v....?" As that was Harry Stone's actor's actual last name....
Betting Harrry would have loved the Anderson v (raspberry sounds).

Absolutely loving this show!
I like the nerd's D&D culture and I'm sort of a part of it! I'm much more into computer games though!

That is one of my favorite bits (when the one tried to Vulcan nerve pinch the other).
@@jamesrawlins735 And they beamed up at the end of course, lol.

Oh look, it's what the Golden Company turned out to be in Game of Thrones
Defense Argument: "You're making a Mistake! " Did I hear that right?
Didn't notice the 'Anderson' easter egg there at first. Nice touch.
You just know "Bernadette" waited all her life for this role.
Especially since Melissa Rauch no longer has to use Bernadette's voice.
Fart noises. Wow incredible writing! So many jokes!
What made this show great were the one-liners from the courtroom.
Bob and June Wheeler, The Trekkies, Buddy Ryan, "But I'm feeling MUCH better, now."
Keep those coming and keep making fun of NYers. That's what's funny.
Right now, I'm not buying the prosecutor or the judge. They need to step up their game.
Well catchphrases need time to develop.
So far the biggest problem for me is that while the originals all had their quirks, they were all competent at their jobs. Walking up to a table of cops and loudly asking for free stuff is not competent. Mack would have known where the microphone is. I don't think even Harry would be that lenient with a multiple repeat offender and he wouldn't be that clueless that something was going on.
@@HariSeldon913 Fair enough, that is a different type of humor. Fits more with the times. Not a bad thing necessarily.
We went back to the adult bakery from Dan's birthday episode
Some people don't like a live studio audience (and think it's actually not real people laughing..don't get me started), but I don't mind the laughing. Just because other people are laughing doesn't mean I have to and doesn't mean I will laugh. This clip is a good example of that. The studio audience was chuckling from the time the defendant entered the courtroom, and I never laughed at all.
My point? People need to shut up about "laugh tracks" because
1. It's actually taped in front of a live studio audience
2. If you don't find it humorous, don't laugh....it's really THAT simple.
@Kevin L wouldnt that be the exact opposite? Complaining about constant fake laughing trying to make you laugh at something not funny isn't being easily manipulated. Defending it and saying its real laughter is being manipulated though.
It doesn't have the political milieu of the original series, which was mocking how NYC was so broke 40 years ago that it was reduced to cutting costs everywhere it could, and extended that concept to the misdemeanor courtroom, but it's still funny.
I'll never forget the time John Larroquette was demoted to "dog court" however. God that was hilarious.
The magic of the original just isn't there. I can watch a clip from the original show and at least get a chuckle if not laugh out loud. But, it just doesn't happen here.
Eh, lots of people are gonna fake happiness and talk about wishing all the best side characters from the old series come back in that false hope that they’ll somehow make it good, like the old days. Eventually most will get bored and move on. As you said: no magic.
Agreed. The only character back and he is nothing like the character we all know. Looking at this clip here, you can see just how different and magical the original show was: ua-cam.com/video/tFADFSI7Z4Q/v-deo.html
Like you said, the magic just isn't here.
You can’t do it without Harry or an equally charismatic character. They just don’t have that.
That's because this show is an absolute train wreck.
It was renewed for a second season. Ha ha. Lol
Kind of sad that Harry and Markie Post both have passed. And the bailiff guy too
Richard ( Aristotle,Nostradamus, Bull Shannon)Moll is very much alive at 80 yrs of age .
Two people from the Big Bang Theory in this episode, Hell yes!!!!!
The original Night Court took a couple of years to find its groove, so I'll give them till 2024.
I love it. Dan Fielding attorney at law.
truly we come at an end of creativity when the 1980s must re-live
For the librarians' fan, this is a lovely easter egg.
Sofar I'm liking it it's good
Honestly, if it weren’t for John Laroquette, I think this reboot would have been given the boot already. I’ve watched a few episodes, and I wanted to like it. I just don’t think it is very funny. Laroquette’s return to once again play Dan Fielding is the only thing keeping it afloat.
It's starting out a little rough, but I know it takes a while to find your footing on a new startup. I'm just not sure they will be allowed to be as non PC and outrageous as they were in the original show. No, it wasn't an offensive show, but everyone is so touchy these days about EVERYTHING.
Perfect reason to be outrageous and non PC...let the sissies cry since thats all they will ever do reguardless.

I Learned Nerd for this!
OMG, Dan Fielding is a "defense" attorney this time? Abbey Stone is no quirky Harry T Stone. Well, the original Night Court took a while to work the kinks out. Maybe this one will also.
The problem I have with this seen (and hope it's not going to be a running theme throughout the show) is that Melissa Rauch's character is too crabby/serious, and John Larroquette's characteris too silly.
The writers need to write the Abby character more like her father Harry. She would have certainly gotten some of his funny bone, being that she is his daughter. We know Rauch can play a funny character because of her time on the BBT.
The other issue I have is that Dan is too silly, in particular, when he stuck his tongue out at the judge. I get it's a comedy, but they're selling us on the idea that it's still a court of law. I just think you can go too silly with the comedy and make it unbelievable that it's an actual courtroom. You have to balance the comedy with the seriousness.
Maybe they're trying to have Abby learn to have a sense of humor and break out of her shell. Dan was ALWAYS wacky and hyper on the original program.
Love the show

Looks like an alright show. The laugh tracks are a bit much though. I’m supposed to believe it’s a audience and not a cue to laugh.
This show is starting to hit its stride.
Right and that's mostly due to the Dan Fielding character...he's always been the best part of the show. The rest of the cast are doing a good job...they can't compare to the originals but they've grown on me.
Stride ? How? It's TERRIBLE
Poor Dan, going from the prosecution side to the defense.
Now he is learning how Christine felt.
Still finding his place. I can’t wait for the over confident Fielding to show up.
My story would have Bob Wheeler show up, tell his sob story, playing the court and while everyone is dumbstruck, Dan, knowing the Wheeler(s), takes advantage of their shock.
When the judge later on comments about it.
Dan will be un - apologetic.
She was about to break. I saw it: he almost had her.
i hope beyond hope that there will be a brent spiner moment
