Train Station Ready To Move! Geometry Train, Big CSX & Norfolk Southern Trains In Hamilton Ohio
Вставка

- Train Depot Move Update, Railroad Maintenance Of Way Equipment, Huge Train With DPU. Norfolk Southern and CSX freight trains in Hamilton, Ohio on the ex Baltimore And Ohio Railroad Main Line just north of Cincinnati. A monster train came right when I was going to leave. The train station is on a trailer right now and will be moved next Tuesday if all goes well.
Video includes an intermodal train, a grain train, a mixed freight ( manifest ), a local switching freight and a geometry train. The CSX geometry train was really cool. Check out the old passenger cars that it was pulling. Some kind of track work was going on. I filmed a high rail truck and a Sperry rail truck doing track inspections and then the geometry train came by. I was here for 3 hours before I saw my first train and that is very rare for these busy tracks.
I thought maybe the depot was going to be moved but I found out that it is not going to be moved until at least Tuesday of the following week. It is only being moved close to a thousand feet to the north but should take about 4 or 5 hours. They don't want to go too fast and have the building bounce off the trailer if they hit a pot hole.
After they finally opened the line around 2pm there were about 9 trains in the next 3 hours to pass here. Most of them were Norfolk Southern trains and I will have a second video. I was leaving and a train came so I went back and filmed it. Then before I left some more trains came and as you will see in Part 2 right when I was leaving a second time, a train came and I filmed it from my truck. The geometry train came from the north and went through Hamilton to the south side of town. There they ran the locomotive around the 3 cars and then went back north through town on the way to Marion, Ohio for their next stop. I don't know if I will be able to film the station being moved.
UA-cam shorts. Speaking of shorts, leave a comment below telling me what you think of them. UA-cam wants us to try them so I have been giving them a try with mixed results. A few have done well but most of them don't get many views and I don't know if I want to keep making them. Starting February if you can get more that 10 million views in 3 months from the shorts, UA-cam will start paying content creators for them. I don't think its possible to get that many views but I am giving it a go for a few months just to see. I know some people don't like them. I deleted some of them but like I said, I am going to try them for a few months and then decide. Please leave a comment below.
Filmed in 1080p with 60fps on Tuesday, December 13, 2022AD
Thanks for watching! If you have time, please watch another video of mine to help keep my channel going. Every view helps support my channel. Viewing time helps pay for gas, motels, rental cars etc. I have a list of places that I plan on filming so watch another video of mine if you have the time.

Good Job JT,, have a Merry Christmas too. Would be kinda cool to watch some of the depot move if you get a chance. Anyway, take care. ( shorts on the building move would be cool )
Always enjoy the Hamilton videos. I see the large I beams running through the floor of the depot they must be part of the way they pick it up.
ChainsawN&W1218, Hope Shoestring gets to feeling better, 90 on that NS manifest with mid helper DPU GE ES44AC looked like, take care!👍🚂🛤
Interesting to see a US geometry train. In the UK they are called network measurement trains and painted bright yellow. The biggest ones are 9-car sets which operate at up to 125mph and are nicknamed "Flying Bananas" (yellow and very fast).
Hope the Hamilton depot move goes well. Cheers, JT👍
I miss the mechanical bell on Heaton Street crossing
That's a vac truck for oil clean up or sewage
cement truck filling old oil tank
What does the geometry train do?
WOW, all kinds of goodness today, Lil bit for everybody, seems to be a hallmark of your videos, ❤ Carry on son!
Always!
The video I put up today has the geometry train in it too from Carlisle. It was flying! That crossing gate is gear box is neat. I wish I had been there with you; I could explain how it works. I dealt with those types of controls and cam switches all the time in my career before I retired. I`ve got 4 videos of 4 different trains with "Timmy" riding on it. I was with you 3 of those times!
Thanks for the info! I will have some questions about them for you. Those gears are pretty cool. I filmed the geometry train going back the other way also and I think I forgot to put that in myPart 2 video that I will post soon
Scott, I think that crossing post got the better part of an 18 wheeler turning around, I don’t know if those two large concrete square blocks have a particular name but it will make you swing wider…..retirement is nice and after 40 years running csx’s engines ( even the gp-40 hauling the geometry train) im glad its here, I enjoy yours and Brians work keeping me up to date, stay safe…..ms~~~thinking of ol’shoes too….
@@FabianDiazTrainsTrucksNCars I agree. That was really cool!
Merci beaucoup pour cette très belle vidéo ! 🌟🌟👍🙏
Great video and keep up the good work God bless from GA and happy holidays
Happy holidays!
Amazing rail movie, nice captures! Thumbs Up
Greetings from Dublin
Andrew
Many thanks!
Jaw Tooth! 🦷💪🏻🤙🏻
JAW TOOTH IS THE BEST RAILFAN EVER!!
Great video JT! Hope we get to see the depot being moved!..its going to be a slow process (dad used to move buildings). Pack a lunch, and make sure your camera batteries are charged!
👍🚂🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃💯👍
Might also be a good time to experiment with timelapse video, since as you know, the actual move is a s-l-o-w process.
Check out your shorts? Poor choice of words,JT! LOL
Lol
Cincinatti -> Hamilton -> Dayton -> Columbus....perfect line for regional passenger rail.
They might get Amtrak to stop at the station. Its a long shot but they are talking about it
Beautiful building all boarded up……railway architecture is unique….should always be preserved but isn’t…sad sad…….good episode ,thank you…..but wait there’s more ( he he ) …that’s one heck of a container train…I’d really like to see a caboose on these things , looks like an incomplete sentence….Christmas greetings to you and yours
Good video jawtooth
Thanks!
@@JawTooth ur w
that Timmy sign means theres a guy named Tim or Timothy getting away with defacing rail cars on an regular basis
A lot of YT channels are doing shorts all of a sudden. For me, I hate it that it's a vertical video, and many of them are 'too short", and some have voice overs that I hate. I would probably watch more if they were horizontal and maybe a little longer. Keep up the great work.
Not a fan of vertical video either. UA-cam has been bugging channel owners to use them (like JT mentioned, it's competing with TikTok). What wasn't mentioned is, according to statistics the majority of internet access (and thus, youtube viewership) is via cellphones, thus the proliferation of vertical video (I know, how lazy is it that one can't be bothered to turn their phone sideways?)
Amazing rail video!
I like seeing the trainmlights blinking and hearing the whistle blow as they approach you.
Hey jaw what's up
Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Happy holidays!
Good morning from Tulsa,Oklahoma!! I am glad they are persevering the train depot. Another great video! Prayers for Shoestring Hobo on feeling better!
Thank you!
Nice last minute catch. Never let a good train go to waste😂
You got that right!
That's pretty cool - seeing the inside of a RR crossing gate :) I am also in awe of the idea of moving that whole station. That is a move I would love to see (it will probably take quite some time though. Nice geometry train!
hobo shoestring is the emperor of the north
That old gate is a Safe train gate mech. I used to build and install crossing gates ,signals and switch tracks for LIRR .Great people on that job .Any questions on the equipment I can answer for you . I also wired and installed crossing cases and huts .
Cool, thanks for the info! I don't know enough about them to be able to ask anything lol
Good morning Jaw. I love your commitment in bringing us our daily dose of train action. Be careful out there, God bless you and have a very Merry CHRISTmas.
What time did the geometry train come through
Howdy JT.. Stay outa the deep snow ;)
Very informative video, that paper mill was cool, love it when you show all those old buildings
Thanks 👍
Great video Jaw Tooth. Greetings from Virginia. A rainy day here. Have a great day 🙏👍😁.
JT you are at the right place at the right time, great catches brother.👍👌😇🙏
Yes indeed
Great good video, mr Jaw Tooth.
In the Netherlands use the railway owner a geometry train and they give him te name: Jules. Free to Jules Verne. A other geometry train is called: Leonardo (da Vinci).
Greet from Zandvoort the Netherlands 🇾🇪🇺🇸
Thanks for explaining why you've suddenly been doing all the shorts. Good luck with that.
Thanks for watching!
Awesome video but wait there’s more 👍😎🇺🇸🚂❄️
For sure!
Look at that runner 😢
Not sure if you mentioned it, but where are they moving this? Thanks as always JT.
A couple of blocks down the line to a new foundation built for both buildings. Some of JT's earlier video from this location shows the new concrete these will be set upon.
What exactly does the geometry train do?
Hold On! E Hunter Harrison Specials Coming Down The Track!!!!
Hi that building lift and move is amazing!
It really is!
I enjoyed that video 👍👍
👍#623🇺🇸🤳🚂🚂🏃💨🎄🎅
One last note, those abandoned paper mills I THINK were originally part of Hooven-Owens-Rentschler corp and part of Lima-Hamilton later Baldwin Lima Hamilton. Also part of that was Niles Tool Works a block west of there on North 3rd St.
Great video Jaw! Merry CHRISTmas!
Re: “shorts” - I despise them. I don’t watch if they’re labelled as shorts, if I get one that’s unlabelled, I downvote it.
Regarding the signal arm and how it works: check this video by Mark Clay McGowan from California. He is a railroad worker in the signals dept.
ua-cam.com/video/YkzYMi-PY5U/v-deo.html
The Cincinnati Circle actually picked up speed for once. If your regular Crossing I heard a truck set it's brakes I hope it wasn't the poor guy from the scrap yard. Speaking of scrap yard I'm surprised none of the Nimble fingered people made off with the metal grade crossing sign which they would bang on and break up for pocket cash. A special note in that the number of grain trains seems to be higher than in previous years due to low water levels on rivers which hampers barges and also some vessels will not go west on the Great Lakes unless they have merchandise to deliver. They too are trying to avoid deadhead mileage so the ports of Toledo and Buffalo gain business. The track inspection train was on the virtual rail camera once or twice in the last week. Let's just hope Tiny Tim doesn't become Timmy who has a psychological problem and hangs around track side with his knife
About the timmy cars. I did a lane closure for a penndot bridge inspection in Philly in on I76 i think or 476 1 whatever the freeway isn't important but under our work zone was a a bunch of rail lines. And a few trains loaded with steel plate under the bridge we were on. I saw a dude walking down the length of the train tagging ever car with his graffiti. And fun fact rail road have right of way. Penndot couldn't have thier articulating boom under the bridge while a train passed. A train had to stop under us and we waited 3 hours for it the leave. I didn't mind i was the driver/operator for the cone truck my job was done expect for checking our cones were still up and if any fell or got knocked over I walked over and set em back up. Easy 12 hour day. I have a cdl and the private flagging company sent a replacement driver after 12 so i didn't break any federal CDL mandate with on the clock time. They dont care your working with penndot they even replace their cdl drivers to adhere to lawn.
When are you going to show part three of the Christmas train? I've been waiting for it. Are you going to New York to do a video with wwot? Show more footage of "aflac" the duck.
I believe that those old buildings will be demolished
14:06-bad excuse for a rail fan
That would be a total change in look for Hamilton.
Great video. Have a nice day 😊🌈
Thank you 🤗
Great video. Have a nice day 😊🌈
Thank you 🤗
Amazing videos Jaw Tooth keep up the good work
I like train videos videos on UA-cam jawtooth 👍
The first train was a little unusual. Usually it will be all international containers or domestic. But that was different. The first half was international then the end was all domestic. It looks to me that the railroad shut down the line till the inspection was done. As for the movement of the building. What they do is they jack up the building very slowly in spots to put blocks of wood at the foundation in a criscross pattern. Then when it is high enough they jack up and put wheels under. Then they can move it. As they move it they will put a few people on the roof to move an power lines to slip under. They will be going down the road at maybe one or two miles per hour. Then when they get there the whole thing is done in reverse. Steven Sipes
truck is suck truck to remove any potential resides. sure glad I have not the contract to move that building(s)
Interesting on how they've crated the entire building using the yellow beams and cables.
Explain 'geometry train' please.
There is a geometry train, or a geometry truck. Either one will detect things like wide gage, tight gage, variations and deviations from uniform specifications for each class, and speed of track. It also checks for things like the super elevation on curves, and can detect any areas with successive bad ties also. Inside the truck and the trains, they have cameras and TV monitors that take actual pictures and record the mile posts where the defects are located, and most spray a yellow paint to help locate the track defects for the maintenance gangs to verify the marked defects.
I presume you get the axel count from the CSX/NS hot box detector, you said 18 axel but the engine 2 x 3 + 2 coaches 2 x (2 x 2) and the geometrie Coach 2 x 3 which makes 20.
There seems to be a missmatch?
Here in the UK we do not have enough or they don't work.
As we had a freight oil train with I think a locked wheel it travelled for miles even passd a hotbbox detector, eventually derailing on points on the cost spilling oil and catching light, on a costal site of scientific intrest, causing a lot of pollution and damage.
Thanks for your videos.
Jawtooth there is this guy I watch that works on railroad signals at a central texas railroad museum in san Antonio and he does something like that his youtube channel is RS&S
2 days ago hi rail truck passes me in harpers ferry and stop in the tunnel and site there for A bit
Timmy gets around! Thanks...
Hamilton interesting place lots things happen there great action thanks jaw tooth for taking us to many locations and making great videos
Glad you enjoyed it
That old paper mill would make a great indoor market. I like those geometry train. Around here, we have algebra and trigonometry trains. The Timmy car reminds of all those coal cars you taped that have the ghostie on them. Prayers for Shoestring.
I think one of those old paper mill buildings would be great turned into makers studios. Each one with equipment that makers could share and programs where seasoned makers can help train newbies. Then also have market spaces where makers could sale their creations if they want to.
As my mom used to say, "Fools' names and fools' faces, often seen in public places."
I hope to see how they move the building.
Been waiting for this moment.👍👍👍
I have checked your shorts and they’re 😎 cool!
Those old buildings are perfect shells and foundations for high end apartments, shops and restaurants. Great investment opportunity.
I don't get your "shorts"....??...youtube..??
I don’t understand why you’re not getting them. They are on UA-cam. Are you subscribed to Jaw’s UA-cam channel?
@@charlottecunningham2141 Just checked to make sure...and yes ??
@@charlottecunningham2141 subscribed to " ALL " ??
I wonder where they’re going to move it to, and if they will fix it up.
A new foundation was built for it a couple of blocks away. JT shows it in some of the earlier videos he's shot here. That kind of effort strongly suggests the depot will be restored and (most likely) repurposed.
@@RailRide I hope so. I hate seeing historic buildings get demolished.
What does a Sperry mobile do
The Sperry rail,
x-rays, both rails at the same time looking for internal and external rail defects. Any defect found will determine the speed that track will allow trains to run on, until it is repaired, or replaced! Once the defect is repaired, the track can be returned to normal track speed!
@@rickkeeton9246 ok thanks
I wonder if they can transport water by rail. Just far enough to get the water into the system to get the water out here to the west.
Going to need a foundation to set the building on before they can move it.
That Geo train was down here in Georgia in early August. Same locomotive and same set up.
Live action. Video record them moving it if you can.
Nice video Jawtooth
Thanks!
Timmy probably leaving his mark just like Shoestring does. Sorry to hear Shoestring's not feeling well. Hope he gets better real soon!!
Great 👍 show JT ! TRACKS AHEAD 👀👨✈️👷♂️🤠🤩☝️🙋♂️👀
Thanks 👍
I watch and "like" the shorts.
Thank you Jaw Tooth for your hard work
My pleasure!
What is the plan after they move both sections of the building they going to open it back up after some renovations and use it for Amtrak or what ?
Train station on the move by train 🚂😉
Awesome live action.
Good Morning Jaw Tooth.
Nice Video
I trust the geometry train measured up! (Cough) 🙂
Over three decades ago used to travel on British Rail's equivalents...
That was funny in yesterday's video when you said about people telling you not to jump off the bridge. That made my day.
Wow! Two SD70MACs on the stack train and no GEs!
Appreciate the depot update. Thanks, Jaw Tooth.
No problem!
Nice catches. Thanks for the update on the station move.
No problem!
Nice train video
🚂👌🇮🇳👌🚂
Thanks a lot 😊
Moving bricks ...carefully ...new locomotives ? Shiny and different sounding horn . Thx JT ...be safe on your journeys .
Shorts are just too short ..coffee still too hot to drink !
I love to see inside of the geometry train and the unit that check railroad scales. It would be very interesting how they work. Remember "Do not Hump".
I remember welcoming my grandmother into town at the Hamilton station back in the mid-50's on a B&O train pulled by one of the presidential pacifics. The wheel slip as it pulled away was loud and scary to my young self.
I'm so glad it's finally moving day. Thankfully, history is being saved. Thanks for letting everyone know
