I watched Ratatouille again recently and picked up on a pretty good, and honestly pretty subtle bit of foreshadowing. In the scene where Colette is showing Linguini the ropes around the kitchen, she puts emphasis on the fact that “you’re not supposed to cook like mommy.” At the end of the film when the critic eats the ratatouille, however, it reminds him of a time when his mother made the dish for him as a child. So, despite the fact that Colette constantly told Linguini that he wasn’t supposed to cook “like mommy”, it was cooking “like mommy” that ended up saving the day in the end. Just something I picked up on; I don’t know if other people picked up on this, but I thought that it was really clever.
+Sophia D I agree, if anything the latter scene helps to remind them why they cook in the first place, giving the 'perspective' Ego wants. Doing something with passion helps to create a memorable experience, which is what a chef seeks from their diner. It also shows how simple done well can be so much better than fancy.
How does it add shock and value? The movies would have the same quality if it didn't have the foreshadowing, so it doesn't add value, and you don't realize that it was foreshadowed until you watch it again, so it doesn't add any shock value.
Oly1y Foreshadowing does add value, since you'll be able to rewatch a film and notice the subtle hints of the ending, which will change the overall experience. It's a really clever technique that also gives characters a lot more depth to their actions throughout the movie. That's why Frozen's twist for Hans kinda fell short for me. It literally came out of nowhere. Yeah, he had motive and the gloves he wore symbolised a secret he was keeping, but nothing was revealed from his actions as a character leading up to it. So there was no satisfaction of the viewer rewatching the film for clues.
When I was younger and watched Frozen basically every other day, when Hans says that he would never shut Anna out, I would always reply, "Okay, but soon you're gonna shut her in."
Andy doesn't forget the toys. His mom assumes the toys in the bag are trash and dumps them, upsetting said teenager later in the movie when he realizes what she has done.
It's like they haven't even WATCHED the movies! On a related note, when they did Top 10 Secondary Disney Characters and they got to Mushu, they said Eddie Murphy did his voice, quote, "before he voiced a talking donkey for Pixar". *Shrek is NOT a Disney Movie!!!*
Shawn Harrington they literally get their info from sites like wiki. It’s why so many of their lists are cop outs, they have no opinion on the matter they just want views and money.
UnCorazonTejano how did you guys know it was a sad song before it was revealed to be a sad song 🤔 Ernesto just made it sound like a cheesy love song before Hector sang it with actual meaning
Other foreshadowing moments: Frozen: In the beginning, when the parents go to the Trolls to heal Anna's frozen head injury, they said they were lucky it wasn't her heart that was frozen. Guess what happens to Anna later in the film? Wreck it Ralph: In the Hero's Duty game, Calhoun mentions that the cy-bugs become whatever they eat, which comes into play in the climax when King Candy is eaten by a bug and becomes a giant bug monster. Hunchback of Notre Dame: Frollo almost burning Esmeralda at the stake is foreshadowed in two scenes; during the Hellfire song where he says "she will be mine or she will burn," and when he burns Quasimodo's small wooden sculpture of her. Beauty and the Beast: In the Gaston song, he says no one "takes cheap shots" like Gaston. During the climactic battle, Gaston takes a couple cheap shots at the Beast; when the latter is too depressed to fight back, and when he reunites with Belle.
Not bad, but you missed a few things! - In Coco, Ernesto's guitar has a skull with a gold tooth... just like the guitar's true owner, Hector. - In Wreck-It-Ralph, Turbo's car can be seen in the data cloud where King Candy retrieves Ralph's medal. - Hans is said to be Disney's version of the cursed mirror from The Snow Queen, the book on which Frozen is based. Hans' behavior "mirrors" those he interacts with; he's adorkable around Anna, a courageous leader around Elsa, and aggressive around the Duke. He reveals his true nature while he's looking at his reflection. - Frozen also employs a visual cue: gloves in theater often represent a person having a secret. In Frozen, that's Elsa and Hans.
TheHeroesOfCRASH if the gloves are a foreshadow then Elsa knew basically from the get go that Hans was disloyal and evil...which could be true (after all she disallowed the wedding that sparked everything)
Or what about Hopper`s death in A Bug`s Life where Hopper explains to Princess Atta about how their way of their way of life works then his brother Molt interrupts explaining to his mates about how Hopper was almost eaten by a blue jay, leading to Hopper`s death later in the film when he is fed to SPARROW chicks by their mother.
They forgot one other piece of foreshadowing for Wreck-It-Ralph: Characters from older games throughout the movie mention the phase “Going Turbo”. To reference the cautionary tale of Turbo and how his jealousy, selfishness and greed led to his and rival game’s infamous downfall. It was basically used as a warning to newer characters, usually told by older characters in hopes that the past won’t repeat itself. Remember Felix had to explain what it meant to Calhoun because her game had just got plugged in recently in the beginning of the movie. But the fact King Candy not only was able to use the phrase perfectly, to describe what he believed what Ralph was doing (with his game jumping), without sounding out of place foreshadowed his true nature. Sugar Rush wasn’t even plugged in when that incident took place, just like Hero’s Duty. Which explains why after Vanellope’s glitching accidentally revealed true form/identity, she didn’t even know who he was but Ralph and Felix automatically knew because they have been in the arcade for 30 years.
Except That's not forshadowing....like....at all. Foreshadowing is if a character says on day 1 "oh boy I hope a giant frog wont kill me" And then a giant frog kills him at the end - it foretells the future, but it doesn't base it,and it is not necessery for the plot to work - you can not write it in If it were - the character saying "Giant frogs frequantly drop from the sky" it's just an expalantion of the lore This is the same - Ralph is just explaining part of the lore/plot Imagine he hadn't told her about "Going Turbo" and you just reach the end of the movie with this guy Turbo appearing and you have no fucking clue he is. It is a necessity to the plot. Same how just 'cuz they talked about Voldemort and his deeds, doesn't mean it was a foreshadow for him coming back
Now that you mention it, no one in Sugar rush knew the term "going Turbo" (or even game-jumping, I bet) except King Candy; given that Sugar rush was new to the arcade years after Turbotime (and Roadblasters) was unplugged, if candy were a legitimate character, he'd would have no clue what that term meant I doubt that his age difference with that of the other Sugar Rush inhabitants has to do with his true nature (as this clip points out), as game characters don't age, though they may be referring rather to the fact he has little to no resemblance with the other racers' anime style that exists in the game; he looks more like an American "screwball"-type character from a Golden-Age cartoon
i think there was also foreshadowing in the princess and the frog during friends on the other side. dr. facilier says “you just want to be free, hop from place to place, but freedom.. takes green” and “when i look into your future it’s the green that i see.”
Yeah but that's pretty obvious, since the conclusion to that happens when the song finishes. Not very subtle at all. The card he shows the prince is also a lili pad.
Friends on The Other side had tons of foreshadowing. I mean just look at the lyrics at one point. "...Now y'all gotta get hitched, but hitchin' ties you down. You just wanna be free, hop from place to place. But freedom takes green. It's the green, It's the green, It's the green you need. And when I look into your future it's the green that I see." not to mention when Facilier says it 'takes green' she shows a card with Naveen on a lillypad. And then a second time shortly after when Dr Facilier is talking about Lawrence. "But in your future the you I see, is exactly the man you always wanted to be." Referencing Lawence basically taking Naveens identity. Its just augghhh so good.
Thats why i love the english version of this song (since i speak spanish, i had to watch it in spanish) because actually Facillier's word playing makes sense and can be interpretated. The translation of the latin spanish version lost the "green" matter and thats why at first i couldnt tell Naveen was going to be turned into a frog. I think the start of the movie also had a bit of foreshadowing, because Tiana when was a child was using a green dress (color she wasn't using afterwards) with a paper tiara, and in the ending of the movie she was using a green dress with a real tiara once again.
ll L A T A T A ll Your absolutely right about the green part (me being a Spanish speaker myself) but he did say jumping from place to place. But your absolutely right.
If you think about it, Edna designed all of the super suits, so all of those deaths are inadvertently her fault, so the 1st super who comes for a suit in years, she doesn't want history to repeat itself and have more blood on her hands. Also, there is a fan theory that Syndrome came to her for his super suit, but (sensing he might be lying to her about why he wants it) she gave him a cape knowing it could backfire on him.
The Fox and the Hound: "Amos Slade that temper of yours is going to cause you a lot of trouble someday" later Amos is attacked and almost killed by a bear. Big Hero 6: "I wouldn't trust Krei Tech with your microbots or anything else." A foreshadowing of Callaghan's revenge plot on Krei and using his microbots to do it.
A Bug`s Life: "And the birds eat the grasshoppers" where Hopper is indeed fed to birds after his younger brother,Molt predicted his near-death experience when he was almost eaten by a blue jay.
Glad they included this cool fact from Coco. Hector truly is the musical genius of his music, because while Ernesto de la Cruz got the songs right, the one thing he forgot was love. Hector's songs of love are what made him my favorite character from the movie to begin with.
"Love is an open door" also takes on a more sinister meaning when Hans sings it - He mocks Anna at the end of the movie for being so desperate for someone to love her. Her desperation literally created an "open door" (read: opportunity) for Hans to take advantage of. She's singing of love, and Hans is literally declaring his scheme. Love is an open door, indeed.
I just GOTTA say both these things. 1. Mufasa isn't the only one who can predict the future. Zazu can, too! He mentions that Scar would make "a very handsome throw rug" and then in the movie Hercules, Herc is seen to be wearing a very familiar lion skin...EASTER EGG ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2. There is more evidence implying the truth about King Candy. When Felix is telling the story of Turbo, you hear Turbo shout his catchphrase - repeatedly - in KING CANDY'S voice. Also, when KC accuses Ralph of going Turbo (says the man himself!) he seems to know an awful lot about what Turbo had been up to and seems very quick to jump to conclusions... Another one is when KC is exiting the code room after stealing the medal from the cup, they MADE SURE we saw, in the corner, Vanellope's code box, looking as though it's had the wires ripped out of it. And that could only have been done by someone who had access to the code room. And the only person who did was guess who. No prizes. And of course, going back to the "pink palace" issue, when Ralph points it out, Candy gets all defensive all of a sudden and seems very keen to change the subject - two sure-fire signs that there's something he's not telling us. Almost as if the entire place was designed for a little girl...oh wait, it was. It should have been obvious. It really should.
The clues were all still there though. It was painfully obvious that King Candy was the antagonist of the film (other than the characters in Ralph's game (aside from Felix)), and the mention of Turbo and his mention not just being in one scene connects the dots, great movie though, one of my favorites.
Not to mention that the whole “going Turbo” incident happened LONG before Sugar Rush was installed into the arcade. And even Calhoun didn’t know what the term meant until Felix explained it to her. And since Ralph had never met King Candy before then, it would mean that KC rarely, if ever, left Sugar Rush, even after closing time at the arcade. How could he possibly know what “going Turbo” means unless he caused the term himself?
"The Lion King" one was a stretch. Simba reclaimed his throne after the battle, when it was dark and stormy. The "sun rising" was actually some time later, when his daughter was born.
Another hint to King Candy being Turbo is him somehow knowing who Wreck It Ralph is and what "going Turbo" means, despite sugar rush not being plugged in when the turbo incident occurred. Also if you pay close attention to Turbos backstory scene, when Turbo keeps repeating his catchphrase, you can kinda recognize it as Alan Tudyk (King Candys VA)!
And what a great journey it has been for them, from worshipping the Claw like a god in Toy Story 1, to taking destiny into their own hands in Toy Story 3.
What about this one from The Incredibles: "Everyone's special Dash.." "Which is another way of saying no one is." "And when everyone's a super.... nobody will be"
Andy didn't forget his toys. They were accidentally thrown away by his mom, and they got into the sister's donate box because they THOUGHT Andy was throwing them away. He wanted them stored in the attic. I know I'm nitpicking, but that's the driving point of the entire movie.
Another piece of foreshadowing in Coco is the gold tooth on Ernesto's guitar. Then we meet Hector and see he also has a gold tooth and we figure out Hector is the true owner of the guitar, the real musician, and Miguel's great-great grandfather.
As good as this list is, I think it missed one bit of foreshadowing that was from "The Jungle Book" that concerns man's red fire. During the number of "I Wanna be Like You", King Louie attempts to give Mowgli the secret of the fire that he believes would make him human. The fire turns out to have separated man from beast since Mowgli used fire to defeat Shere Kahn and it also led Mowgli out of the Jungle and into the man village. Also in "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs", Grumpy called the evil queen an old witch. Guess what the queen turned into later on in the movie? And also in "Aladdin" and during the song "One Jump Ahead", the title hero escaped the guards by flying out the window using a carpet he got. This foreshadows Aladdin and Abu meeting the magic carpet.
-Frozen heart (Frozen) -Tramp's fate (Lady and the Tramp) -Amos Slade's bad temper (The Fox and the Hound) -Baby Rapunzel's spinning figures above her cradle (Tangled) -The two books aside of Jiminy Cricket as he sings "When you wish upon a star" -Giselle's statue (Enchanted)
There is another smaller clue as to King Candy's true nature, as when he thinks Ralph is making a Turbo, or game jumping, he grows suspicious that he'll take over his game, like he himself did with Suger Rush. It's a small thing that most people probably won't even notice due to how well hidden it was. But ocne you learn his true nature, you begin to connect the dots.
Tangled: You see the dagger in the drawer where Gothel takes it out after she sees Flynn Rider from Tangled's satchel with the crown inside. Beauty and the beast with the rose falling each time.
I knew Hans was a bad guy when he said "I've been searching my whole life to find my own PLACE" and gestures to the kingdom. I was genuinely shocked when the whole theater was shocked at the reveal. 😅
I disagree, I think it was a nod to the fact that he used love as an easily opened door to take over a kingdom. Make a young woman fall in love with you, take everything she has.
@@Necrobadger I think it's both, since both yours and Itay's interpretations look at different characters. Anna and Elsa need each other's love to have a stable life, while Hans sees love as an open door to power and riches.
I also like the foreshadowing of Dori and her parents! In "Finding Nemo" Dori says that she THINKS the short term memory loss runs in her family and then she spends a few seconds, wondering where they are, meaning she definitely also forgot her family! And then the sequel "Finding Dori" is about how Dori remembers and tries to find her parents!
Here's a question: In that scene in "Zootopia" where Bellwether calls Doug and tells him to shoot a cheetah with the night howler gun, could she have been talking about Clawhauser?
He might be a leopard then again Zootopia reversea the stereotypes 1. A "dumb bunny" figures out the mystery 2. The prey is the true mastermind tk destroy predators and ahe is also a sheep (sheep follow) 3. Sly fox gets an honest job 4. A sloth likes to go fast
At first, I thought the Aliens from Toy Story 2 were just there and weren't going to do anything important. But after Toy Story 3, I was like, thank GOD the aliens were there.
You forgot Finding Nemo: at the beginning, while going to school, the little fish asks his father if he has ever seen a shark or knows how much a turtle lives, Marlin answers he'll ask the turtle after talking with a shark... and later that happens (except the sharks were 3).
I noticed a small “blink and you miss it” moment of foreshadowing when rewatching Coco. In the first attempt to return Miguel home, the marigold petal glows after Mama Imelda says she will give Miguel her blessing. However, when Ernesto does the same to return Miguel home, the marigold petal never glows, because Ernesto and Miguel aren’t related by blood. This moment is easy to miss, because Hector enters immediately after this happens, panning the camera way from Miguel and Ernesto. While it happens right before the big reveal, it may give you a small hint of what’s to come if you catch this small detail. It also could make you think about what would’ve happened if Hector never entered at that moment, as Miguel most likely would have seen that the petal isn’t glowing.
The fact that King Candy has access to the game's hidden data by means of a cheat code also foreshadows that he's already modified Sugar Rush's data in other ways.
What about Mulan when in “a girl worth fighting for” the guys say what they want in a woman. Then in Mulan 2 they get girls that are exactly what they said we’re worth fighting for
Every time Edna says "no capes" I think about superman ,who wears a cape, and how he doesn't snag on anything because he is powerful enough to not let drag from a cape slow him down. And Batman uses his cape for strategic reasons. Conclusion no capes for hero's who want to wear them just to look good.
In #6 when Miguel is watching an old Ernesto interview in the moment before the tape cuts Ernesto looks right into the camera and gives a menacing smirk. Thats the real foreshadowing
@@markusjordan-2187 I don't remember it perfectly, but I think Helen told him everyone is special, and Dash replied saying that that's just another way to say that nobody is.
@@markusjordan-2187 Helen: Everyone's special, Dash. Dash: Which is another way of saying no one is. Later in the movie... Syndrome: And when everyone's super...no one will be.
If you pause at just the right moment at 7:00, you can see Turbo looking at the audience, giving a thumbs up for a split second. It's a nice "blink and you'll miss it" thing!
I find that the poster and box art for "COCO" to be misleading , one would believe that the boy is COCO but that is another character and the boy's named Miguel .
Princess and the front has my favorite foreshadowing when dr facilier sing friends on the other side Tells navien that you want to HOP from place to place, and that freedom takes GREEN also on the tarot card the shadow cast behind him is in the shape of a lily pad
As soon as Hector was shown on screen I said, "That's actually his great great grandfather." My brother (who had seen it before me) looked at me an accused me googling it. But it really wasn't that hard to figure it out, he couldn't pass through because of no picture, and mainly because they wouldn't just introduce some random character like that and him not being important to the plot.
How about Finding Nemo? Dory sings "Just keep swimming" throughout the film. There's a scene where Nemo's about to get pulled out of the tank with a fishnet, then the tank gang jumps in to add weight and pull the net back down. Later near the end of the film, an entire school of fish gets swept up, with Nemo and Dory stuck inside. They all work together to pull the net down which makes the net snap. Guess what they chant during those moments.
Yes, and while they're at it, they need to change their game when it comes to the plot twist villain by doing it on someone other than the villain, which is what I'm planning in a story that I'm writing.
They sort of did with Moana. For the sake of spoilers, I'll explain why below the "Show More" option. Instead of revealing a good guy to actually be the villain, they revealed the villain to actually be the good guy.
"Love is an open door" can also mean that Love doesn't HAVE to be exclusive to two people falling in love, it can also mean the love of a family - as seen at the climax of the movie
As far as Brave? I'd like to point out that there's a double dose of foreshadowing via the lost kingdom and how the four princes became divided due to one being a beast and sought a spell to change his own fate.
If you think about it, Edna designed all of the super suits, so all of those deaths are inadvertently her fault, so the 1st super who comes for a suit in years, she doesn't want history to repeat itself and have more blood on her hands. "Abominable!" Can you believe that? Do I look abominable to you? Why can't they call me the Adorable Snowman, or the Agreeable Snowman, for crying out loud? I'm a nice guy! Snow cone? Don't worry, it's lemon.
I was actually more impressed with one of Stinky Pete’s other lines when he says “do you really think that Andy will take you to college or on his honeymoon? “ to Woody. When I watched Toy Story 3, I was thinking “well that’s half the question answered.”
Because of this list I have payed more attention to more films I watch such as Encanto where there was some foreshadowing in the song “Waiting on a Miracle”

the wolves from Pocahontas also have a deeper meaning, as the death of Kocoum begins the conflict between settlers and natives, while the Chief is the one to find the courage to end the conflict before it becomes an all out war, hence the smoke dissipating.
In Tarzan, Sabor and Clayton have the same color scheme. Also, Sabor getting tangled in the net at the beginning is foreshadowing Clayton getting tangled in the vines at the end. Plus Sabor, an animal, gets tangled up in something man-made, while Clayton, a man, gets tangled up in nature.

In The Princess and the Frog theres some slight foreshadowing towards Naveen, in Dr.Facillier's song "Friends on the other side" Facillier was making a emphasis on "green" when telling Naveen's fortune, but besides a clever word game, the final card with the prince among money has said money shaped in a lilypad, also Facilier's mannerism with the cards point out that he was turning Naveen into a frog. Also the beggining of the movie where Tiana is a child foreshadows a bit what was her fate, she was wearing a green dress and a paper tiara (color she didnt wear afterwards as a human), and in the end she was wearing green once again, but now with a real tiara.
7:35: There is far, far better foreshadowing in King Candy's knowledge. Even though his is a new game, he recognizes Ralph and is aware of what the phrase "Going Turbo" means -- stuff he could only have known if he had been in the arcade for longer than Sugar Rush.
I love Frozen, but you overlooked the time when Molt mentioned that birds eat grasshoppers, and mentions that Hopper will be eaten by one in A Bug’s Life.
You literally forgot the foreshadowing in Aladdin! In the scene where the Genie turns Aladdin into a prince, just before that part,Genie reveals that he is trapped in the lamp and even compares it to a gig "PHENOMENAL COSMIC POWERS...itty bitty living space".Then, during the final showdown between Aladdin and Jafar,Aladdin takes advantage of Jafar's desire for power and convinces him to wish to be a genie, which ends in his downfall, thus a fine piece of foreshadowing that should've made this list!
There's also foreshadowing with gloves in Frozen. Gloves symbolize hiding something. The gloves hide that fact that Elsa has powers, and Hans also wears gloves which symbolize he's hiding something as well.
Another hint of foreshadowing in Coco: After Chicharron fades away, Hector drinks alcohol from a shot glass and when the scene ends, the shot zooms and focuses on the two shot glasses with one full and standing up and the other glass Hector drank from being empty and facing upside down. This laters comes back to when we see Hector's flashback and find out how he died. The full shot glass symbolized Ernesto and the empty, upside down shot glass symbolized Hector and him passing after falling to the ground.
I’d also like the mention that out of everyone in Sugar Rush, King Candy was the only one who recognized Ralph because they were around at the same time. Turbotime was even plugged in right next to Fix it Felix Jr. also his helmet when he races is similar to his Turbo Time helmet, and his goggles he wears slightly make his eyes look yellow.
+sophia D. Agreed! Also, love Ratatouille ^_^ great movie ♥♥♥
Never realised it. Good find.
+Sophia D I agree, if anything the latter scene helps to remind them why they cook in the first place, giving the 'perspective' Ego wants. Doing something with passion helps to create a memorable experience, which is what a chef seeks from their diner. It also shows how simple done well can be so much better than fancy.
Going to chuckle next time I watch it and Colette spouts this line :D Nice find!

I LOVE foreshadowing. It really adds the shock and value to a story.
True
@@Oly1y The audience wouldn't know what was going to happen next. It add shock because it's what the audience didn't know what was going to happen.
same, and another reason i like it is bc it makes you think and makes you wanna rewatch it to make sure u didn't miss anything
Also, Hans and Anna sing "Love is an open door" but later he ends up locking her in a room.
If you listen carefully, you can tell that the song foreshadows that he's just using her for his own gain.
You know I always wondered if that song had so much foreshadowing. Lol
"We finish each others-"
"Sandwiches!"
"Not what I was going to- I mean YES! That's what I was going to say!"
And it’s only through the love of a friend (Olof) does the door becomes an open door again
I was going to say the samething. Annoying how she says this. Mojo needs to re-watch these movies they think they know so much about.
Similar in the top 10 gundam list they had Turn X in the list while it isn't a gundam type
Shawn Harrington they literally get their info from sites like wiki. It’s why so many of their lists are cop outs, they have no opinion on the matter they just want views and money.
Also, things don't get burned in a landfill, by its very definition.
the fact that ernesto made a sad song a happy song was my first clue that he wasnt the writer
Well with spanish music most of the songs have an upbeat and happy style with sad lyrics
Hollywood Undead - Bullet
Yup, noticed that too. It was self-flattering while the original song was intended to comfort Coco.
UnCorazonTejano how did you guys know it was a sad song before it was revealed to be a sad song 🤔 Ernesto just made it sound like a cheesy love song before Hector sang it with actual meaning
I so honeslty find it ironic he died when he sung remember me SYMBOLIC ABOUT SOMETHING !?!?!?!?!?!
Other foreshadowing moments:
Frozen: In the beginning, when the parents go to the Trolls to heal Anna's frozen head injury, they said they were lucky it wasn't her heart that was frozen.
These are all very obvious
@@michaeloptv Nope; that was a cue to the audience. Besides, I said gloves symbolize secrecy, not evil.
So that means mickey and co have a secret theyre not telling us
Or what about Hopper`s death in A Bug`s Life where Hopper explains to Princess Atta about how their way of their way of life works then his brother Molt interrupts explaining to his mates about how Hopper was almost eaten by a blue jay, leading to Hopper`s death later in the film when he is fed to SPARROW chicks by their mother.
HOW DID I NOT CATCH THE COCO ONE
Also in the movie no one knew who ralph was except for king candy.
@Mike Burnsy they meant in Sugar Rush
Except That's not forshadowing....like....at all.
Foreshadowing is if a character says on day 1 "oh boy I hope a giant frog wont kill me"
And then a giant frog kills him at the end - it foretells the future, but it doesn't base it,and it is not necessery for the plot to work - you can not write it in
If it were - the character saying "Giant frogs frequantly drop from the sky" it's just an expalantion of the lore
This is the same - Ralph is just explaining part of the lore/plot
Imagine he hadn't told her about "Going Turbo" and you just reach the end of the movie with this guy Turbo appearing and you have no fucking clue he is. It is a necessity to the plot.
Same how just 'cuz they talked about Voldemort and his deeds, doesn't mean it was a foreshadow for him coming back
Daniel Haras Then why was was it put as an example of foreshadowing in animated films on TV Tropes?
Now that you mention it, no one in Sugar rush knew the term "going Turbo" (or even game-jumping, I bet) except King Candy; given that Sugar rush was new to the arcade years after Turbotime (and Roadblasters) was unplugged, if candy were a legitimate character, he'd would have no clue what that term meant
I doubt that his age difference with that of the other Sugar Rush inhabitants has to do with his true nature (as this clip points out), as game characters don't age, though they may be referring rather to the fact he has little to no resemblance with the other racers' anime style that exists in the game; he looks more like an American "screwball"-type character from a Golden-Age cartoon
i think there was also foreshadowing in the princess and the frog during friends on the other side. dr. facilier says “you just want to be free, hop from place to place, but freedom.. takes green” and “when i look into your future it’s the green that i see.”
who sung this as they read it?
wow
Yeah but that's pretty obvious, since the conclusion to that happens when the song finishes. Not very subtle at all. The card he shows the prince is also a lili pad.
mik plus how the third tarot card has naveen laying on a lilypad...
I think everyone got the message after he was turned into a frog
Friends on The Other side had tons of foreshadowing.
I mean just look at the lyrics at one point.
"...Now y'all gotta get hitched, but hitchin' ties you down. You just wanna be free, hop from place to place. But freedom takes green.
It's the green, It's the green, It's the green you need. And when I look into your future it's the green that I see."
not to mention when Facilier says it 'takes green' she shows a card with Naveen on a lillypad.
And then a second time shortly after when Dr Facilier is talking about Lawrence.
"But in your future the you I see, is exactly the man you always wanted to be."
Referencing Lawence basically taking Naveens identity.
NO CAPES!
Read this at the same moment she said it.
Best line of "The incredibles"!
They never said Edna designed for ALL of the supers back in the day.

*AND I WAS RIGHT*
Not foreshadowing but the sheep ending up being the main protagonist in the end verifies the saying “A wolf in sheep clothing” ….
Also a reference to how Krei, as far as Callaghan knows at that point, cost his daughter her life.
A Bug`s Life: "And the birds eat the grasshoppers" where Hopper is indeed fed to birds after his younger brother,Molt predicted his near-death experience when he was almost eaten by a blue jay.
In Big Hero 6, Callaghan was, I'm sure, talking about how he shouldn't have trusted Krei with his daughter... sadness
Glad they included this cool fact from Coco. Hector truly is the musical genius of his music, because while Ernesto de la Cruz got the songs right, the one thing he forgot was love. Hector's songs of love are what made him my favorite character from the movie to begin with.
Coco is an amazing movie love it 💜

@@yourmomandthem Yeah, I'm a fangirl for Hector. He's a rock star in my eyes.😍💕💜🎸🎶
Understandable. :D
But it wasn't. Rich blind sighted us. It was THE most well crafted villain twist of the company. Plus the reveal was stupid awesome.
realar I know! I was totally caught off guard.
The clues were all still there though. It was painfully obvious that King Candy was the antagonist of the film (other than the characters in Ralph's game (aside from Felix)), and the mention of Turbo and his mention not just being in one scene connects the dots, great movie though, one of my favorites.
Can't wait until Ralph breaks the internet!
I guess Merida thought her mother was just being unBEARable!
No.
I'll show you to the door now

@@joshuahale6249 boo u suck😋😋😋

Another hint to King Candy being Turbo is him somehow knowing who Wreck It Ralph is and what "going Turbo" means, despite sugar rush not being plugged in when the turbo incident occurred. Also if you pay close attention to Turbos backstory scene, when Turbo keeps repeating his catchphrase, you can kinda recognize it as Alan Tudyk (King Candys VA)!
When the aliens rescued the toys in Toy Story 3.

And what a great journey it has been for them, from worshipping the Claw like a god in Toy Story 1, to taking destiny into their own hands in Toy Story 3.
What about this one from The Incredibles:

"Which is another way of saying no one is."
"And when everyone's a super.... nobody will be"
Andy didn't forget his toys. They were accidentally thrown away by his mom, and they got into the sister's donate box because they THOUGHT Andy was throwing them away. He wanted them stored in the attic.
I know I'm nitpicking, but that's the driving point of the entire movie.
These foreshadows definitely went over my head when I was younger. 🤔
Another piece of foreshadowing in Coco is the gold tooth on Ernesto's guitar. Then we meet Hector and see he also has a gold tooth and we figure out Hector is the true owner of the guitar, the real musician, and Miguel's great-great grandfather.
Except he didn't have it chen he was alive :/ But it's a nice detail :)
I've seen Coco (my favorite Pixar film) at least 15 times, and I've never even noticed that!!! Good eye😉
Look at that, Abu! It's not everyday you see a horse with two rear ends.

Did you totally miss that the song title is "Love is an open door" signifying that the love she needed was behind the closed door of Elsa?
I disagree, I think it was a nod to the fact that he used love as an easily opened door to take over a kingdom. Make a young woman fall in love with you, take everything she has.
Necrobadger yup
@@Necrobadger I think it's both, since both yours and Itay's interpretations look at different characters. Anna and Elsa need each other's love to have a stable life, while Hans sees love as an open door to power and riches.

I also like the foreshadowing of Dori and her parents!
In "Finding Nemo" Dori says that she THINKS the short term memory loss runs in her family and then she spends a few seconds, wondering where they are, meaning she definitely also forgot her family!

Alessandro Damiani WOW!!!!! Nice one!!!!!!!
I just love foreshadowing since it just gives an ominous "bum-bum-bum" to anything later in the story. Never noticed the Zootopia one, though. Thanks!
I can't believe you didn't add where scar said to Simba before the stampede and his father's death "Simba, it's to DIE for."

I love when Disney foreshadow in all their movies but they should give it a rest with the surprise twist villains it’s getting old.

The scene with Nick playing with Bellweather's wool is even more hilarious in hindsight once you learn she's the villain of the movie.
I love this list foreshadowing is amazing in movies and books. I really appreciate that you put Coco on here 💜.

Glad they included this cool fact from Coco. Hector truly is the musical genius of his music, because while Ernesto de la Cruz got the songs right, the one thing he forgot was love. Hector's songs of love are what made him my favorite character from the movie to begin with. Awww I love foreshadowing. OMG, I never caught that Zootopia pick though! WOW! That's one of those "blink and you miss it" spots! As soon as Hector was shown on screen I said, "That's actually his great-grandfather." My brother (who had seen it before me) looked at me and accused me of googling it. But it really wasn't that hard to figure it out, he couldn't pass through because of no picture, and mainly because they wouldn't just introduce some random character like that and him not being important to the plot. My favorite is Tangled. Mother Gothel always kisses Rapunzel's forehead and her hair.8 Here's a question: In that scene in "Zootopia" where Bellwether calls Doug and tells him to shoot a cheetah with the night howler gun, could she have been talking about Clawhauser? And then the claw all the way back in the first Toy Story. "The claw chooses who will go and who will stay." The toys get saved by the claw while Lotso stays in the dump, so to speak. NO CAPES!! Zootopia had the bunnies in the beginning doing the “blood” scene. That to me was a better foreshadowing. I was actually more impressed with one of Stinky Pete’s other lines when he says “Do you really think that Andy will take you to college or on his honeymoon? “ to Woody. When I watched Toy Story 3, I was thinking “well that’s half the question answered.” "Love is an open door" can also mean that Love doesn't HAVE to be exclusive to two people falling in love, it can also mean the love of a family - as seen at the climax of the movie Top 10 Animated Sequels WatchMojo.com Worst Decisions by Disney Villains
Another hint to King Candy being Turbo is him somehow knowing who Wreck-It Ralph is and what "going Turbo" means, despite Sugar Rush not being plugged in when the Turbo incident occurred. Also if you pay close attention to Turbo's backstory scene, when Turbo keeps repeating his catchphrase, you can kinda recognize it as Alan Tudyk (King Candys VA)! Andy didn't forget his toys. They were accidentally thrown away by his mom, and they got into the sister's donate box because they THOUGHT Andy was throwing them away. He wanted them stored in the attic. I know I'm nitpicking, but that's the driving point of the entire movie.
At first, I thought the Aliens from Toy Story 2 were just there and weren't going to do anything important. But after Toy Story 3, I was like, thank GOD the aliens were there. I like the Pocahontas foreshadowing
I also think when human Ernesto died it was foreshadowing of how he would be defeated
the wolves from Pocahontas also have a deeper meaning, as the death of Kocoum begins the conflict between settlers and natives, while the Chief is the one to find the courage to end the conflict before it becomes an all out war, hence the smoke dissipating.
More foreshadowing:
“Go on,make a jackass out of yourself!”
Later Lampwick turns into a donkey
The King Candy twist was done so very very well. The shock. The set up. The talent of Alan Tudyk. It was so good.
Great list! Your lists about animated movie are so damn good.
Never noticed that post it note in Zootopia, dang. Good work, Rich.
Foreshadowing in Harry potter?
That's Warner Bros, not Disney. Or, at least it was before Fantastic Beasts...
@@DrRank Is it not Warner Brother's still?
@@prettybrainlessbusinessmen7553 I don't know. Full disclosure: I know nothing about the Hogwarts universe. I was raised in a Christian family that wasn't exactly happy with a protagonist who practiced witchcraft.
@@DrRank Fair enough.
@@DrRank i meant what foreshadowing do Thursday have in Harry potter?
The smoke wolves were just genius and captivating.
Also, I never saw any of these. Omg.
And then the claw all the way back in the first Toy Story. "The claw chooses who will go and who will stay." The toys get saved by the claw while Lotso stays in the dump, so to speak.
Is no one going to mention that King Candy already knew who Wreck it Ralph was or that he knew what "going turbo" meant
I love the 'no capes' foreshadowing
You literally forgot the foreshadowing in Aladdin! In the scene where the Genie turns Aladdin into a prince, just before that part,Genie reveals that he is trapped in the lamp and even compares it to a gig "PHENOMENAL COSMIC POWERS...itty bitty living space".Then, during the final showdown between Aladdin and Jafar,Aladdin takes advantage of Jafar's desire for power and convinces him to wish to be a genie, which ends in his downfall, thus a fine piece of foreshadowing that should've made this list!
We NEVER noticed this! Thanks :) Another AWESOME video! :D
I would've definitely love it if you included the bell falling on Ernesto.
There's also foreshadowing with gloves in Frozen. Gloves symbolize hiding something. The gloves hide that fact that Elsa has powers, and Hans also wears gloves which symbolize he's hiding something as well.
The Lion King one was very obvious... Scar's comment of "it's to die for" WAS literal foreshadowing
Another hint of foreshadowing in Coco:
After Chicharron fades away, Hector drinks alcohol from a shot glass and when the scene ends, the shot zooms and focuses on the two shot glasses with one full and standing up and the other glass Hector drank from being empty and facing upside down. This laters comes back to when we see Hector's flashback and find out how he died. The full shot glass symbolized Ernesto and the empty, upside down shot glass symbolized Hector and him passing after falling to the ground.
I LOVE PIXAR
I’d also like the mention that out of everyone in Sugar Rush, King Candy was the only one who recognized Ralph because they were around at the same time.
Turbotime was even plugged in right next to Fix it Felix Jr. also his helmet when he races is similar to his Turbo Time helmet, and his goggles he wears slightly make his eyes look yellow.
a list for forshadowing in cartoons next. but I suspect that steven universe and gravity falls will occupy every entry
Fun fact: Stanford Pines is voiced by Mayor Lionheart from Zootopia. And Mabel is voiced by Trixie from Toy Story 3.
