A good dermatologist will tell you that the minute you feel any itchiness or tenderness or stinging to apply that topical anti inflammatory medicine. Also, it’s really important to wash scalp at least every other day or so in order to keep scalp clean and reduce the inflammation. Glad you’re feeling much better. Happy Mother’s Day! 🌸
Lynn thank you for sharing. I am 64yrs old and devastated in regards my CCA. I am starting to eat 2 salads a day with a green leafy smoothy; for the past week. I am targeting inflammation and trying to balance blood sugar. You give me hope. I live near France but I was born in California. You are so needed in our community. Thanks
Hi! It’s called Mometasone Fuorate. I only use it periodically so it’s hard to say if there’s a direct correlation. Overall, I think it’s a combination of multiple factors including meds, nutrition, supplements, etc. that contribute.💛
@@nourishyourcrown Thank you. I learn from your videos. Your delivery is very effective; calm and professional. (Please tell everyone to like and subscribe.)
My flares come with diet when I fall off eating things I know I shouldn’t eat I get a flare last one I had my hair fell out to the scalp bald but when I get back on track it does grow back praise God I also invested in the I restore red light therapy and it works wonders thank you and stay blessed.
Thanks for sharing I was diagnosed last May. Been a year of steroid cream/solution,antibiotics and now steroid injections. I’m still flaring up with tenderness not currently shedding excessively. Regrowth has been very slow for me in my affected areas therefore I’m ready to cut it off and stop hiding behind wigs and hats. I have excepted that this will be a process and I’m not happy with hiding. It helps to have a community that understands the journey that hair loss can take you on.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. It has been a struggle for me over 11 years trying to keep my dreadlocs. Last June 2023, I got the nerve to cut them off and wear a wig. I hope to soon be able to wear my hair short natural style like yours.
Hi Lynn, thank you for your transparency with the downs as well as ups with your hair journey. You're always so informative and I always learn so much. I'm sixty years of age and post menopausal I retired, have some stress as a caretaker for my mom but I do believe that sugar triggers my hair loss which is in my hairline area. But I believe it stems from getting bangs glued in years ago. Now I try to be more intentional about taking care of myself better by eating cleaner, juicing, getting the steroid injections every 6 weeks (temporary only) applying Rogaine, using derma stamping to my scalp (once a week), shampooing with medicated shampoo, castor oil, brushing and massaging my scalp and exercising. Finally my hairline is regrowing. Lots of self care is helping. Again thank you for sharing excellent videos. ❤
Hi Lynn; Just when I thought I was on the road to recovery…. the last few weeks my hair started shedding again. It’s due to stress. Thank God there’s no tenderness or itching. This morning I trimmed my sides to match my crown. The crown never fully grew in, but I could camouflage the area. Ok, tmi . I’m in my 70’s. Things happen; so I’m trying to do little things I used to enjoy to lower stress; then treat my scalp and stick to a reasonable routine. I look forward to your videos. Please Keep them coming.
Hi! Wow! Thanks for sharing. It’s beautiful that you are embracing the things that you enjoy! Glad to hear that you haven’t experienced the itching and tenderness! 💛
So glad I finally found a potential answering to what has been plaguing me for 10 years. I went to a dermatologist when it was first occurring and received steroid injections which I was not a fan of because it was painful to me for 1, and 2 I did not like the idea of needing outside medication. I want to take a holistic approach. It’s not completely bald in my crown however noticeably shorter than the rest of my hair. My mother also experienced alopecia areata at the back of her head and it grew back in over time. Hopeful for my hair recovery , thank you ❤️

Thank you for sharing your challenges. I just got my sixth steroid injection. No longer taking doxycycline or the topical steroid. I am trying to get my inflammation under control with my diet. This is such a frustrating experience, but I am excited to learn more about your membership.
I was just diagnosed with this and I am 40. It started when I was 32. It grows full then I get a flare, and it sheds completely. It's a constant battle. I'm new to taking the meds Doxycycline. That's helping with the inflammation. I also started pumpkin seed oil, zinc, vitamin D, iron, sea moss, and fenugreek. My dermatologist wants to start me on oral minoxidil, but she wants to first see how the Doxycycline works.
I’m currently taking Doxycycline antibiotics & they are literally making me sick & throwing my ph balance off. I’m doing steroid injections every 4weeks. I’m also using topical steroid as well.
Hello Lynn, I am also dealing with a flare-up. I have tenderness and soreness in my crown areas. I don't know what is going on. I did stop using the antibiotics ointment. I really don't know. I am wandering if it is a seasonal thing. My shedding had stopped. I will start back using the antibiotics ointment.
Thanks for your question and I’m praying for you. I think the latest flare ups that I’ve had have been a few weeks for the scalp symptoms but the excess shedding may be a little longer.
When I had this particular flare up I can't recall if I looked directly at the scalp. But, I knew it was inflamed because the shedding was so bad. When I was first diagnosed a few years ago, yes, the scalp was visibly inflamed.
